Talk about a wonderful Christmas gift!

Essence Atkins and her husband Jaime Mendez got the best present they could have asked for on Christmas Day — a son. “Found [happiness] … our 1st baby, a beautiful healthy boy, was born on Christmas Day! #blessing,” the Are We There Yet? actress, 39, Tweeted Tuesday. It’s the first child for the couple, who were married in September 2009 after meeting on Match.com.

Atkins had a relatively painless pregnancy up until the final weeks, she writes. “I’m convinced the last month of pregnancy prepares [you for] no sleep when the baby arrives. Ugh, I’ve been awake 21 hours,” she Tweeted recently.
