Swearing-In Ceremony: About 240,000 tickets have been printed, and they are being kept under lock and key. Tickets are free and will be distributed by members of Congress and the Presidential Inaugural Committee, once it is established. Tickets will not be available for distribution until about a week before the ceremony.

No Web site or ticket outlet has obtained inaugural swearing-in tickets to sell, officials said.

The main viewing area, for ticket holders, will be on the Mall between the West Front of the Capitol and Fourth Street NW. Huge television screens will probably be used to transmit the ceremony in that area. People typically can attend the inauguration without tickets, but they would be farther away. More giant TV screens could be added for them, but those arrangements are still being planned.

Inaugural Parade: The inaugural parade along Pennsylvania and Constitution avenues, which usually features about 12,000 marchers, has in the past required tickets for bleacher seats, though standing room is free. Parade details are also still being worked out.

Other Events: Tickets to inaugural balls are sold by state societies, organizations that promote states and plan the big galas. States sometimes hold those balls jointly.

Ticket prices vary but are often discounted and sometimes pre-sold to society members. Tickets can generally be purchased through the societies’ Web sites. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will designate official balls that the president typically attends.

They can use text from previously conducted interviews, so it may appear that the Obamas are making the interview circuit more than they actually are. Pretty much any public figure can end up on a magazine’s cover, particularly tabloids like this one.

I read recently that Michelle may be on the cover of Vogue, and I would love to pick up that issue when it comes out.

The GOP is in the throes of examining and reorganizing itself, and there are names being put in the hat for possible contenders in the next four years, including Romney, Huckabee, and, yes, Palin. Obama’s Bailout Bunch Brings Us More of the Same: Jonathan Weil

Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) — It’s hard to believe Barack Obama would even think of calling this change.

Take a good look at some of the 17 people our nation’s president-elect chose last week for his Transition Economic Advisory Board. And then try saying with a straight face that these are the leaders who should be advising him on how to navigate through the worst financial crisis in modern history.

First, there’s former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin. Not only was he chairman of Citigroup Inc.’s executive committee when the bank pushed bogus analyst research, helped Enron Corp. cook its books, and got caught baking its own. He was a director from 2000 to 2006 at Ford Motor Co., which also committed accounting fouls and now is begging Uncle Sam for Citigroup- style bailout cash.

Two other Citigroup directors received spots on the Obama board: Xerox Corp. Chief Executive Officer Anne Mulcahy and Time Warner Inc. Chairman Richard Parsons. Xerox and Time Warner got pinched years ago by the Securities and Exchange Commission for accounting frauds that occurred while Mulcahy and Parsons held lesser executive posts at their respective companies.

Mulcahy and Parsons also once were directors at Fannie Mae when that company was breaking accounting rules. So was another member of Obama’s new economic board, former Commerce Secretary William Daley. He’s now a member of the executive committee at JPMorgan Chase & Co., which, like Citigroup, is among the nine large banks that just got $125 billion of Treasury’s bailout budget.

There’s More

Obama’s economic crew might as well be called the Bailout Bunch. Another slot went to former White House economic adviser Laura Tyson. She’s been a director for about a decade at Morgan Stanley, which in 2004 got slapped for accounting violations by the SEC and a month ago got $10 billion from Treasury.

That’s not all. There’s Penny Pritzker, the Obama campaign’s national finance chairwoman. She was on the board of the holding company for subprime lender Superior Bank FSB. The Chicago-area thrift, in which her family held a 50 percent stake, was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 2001. The thrift’s owners agreed to pay the government $460 million over 15 years to help cover the FDIC’s losses.

Even some of the brighter lights on Obama’s board, like Warren Buffett and former SEC Chairman William Donaldson, come with asterisks. Buffett was on the audit committee of Coca-Cola Co.’s board when the SEC found the soft-drink maker had misled investors about its earnings. Donaldson was on the audit committee from 1998 to 2001 at a provider of free e-mail services called Mail.com Inc. Just before he left the SEC, in 2005, the agency disciplined the company over accounting violations that had occurred on his watch.

Telling Stories

So, by my tally, almost half the people on Obama’s economic advisory board have held fiduciary positions at companies that, to one degree or another, either fried their financial statements, helped send the world into an economic tailspin, or both. Do you think any of that came up in the vetting?

Let’s say we give Buffett a pass — smart move he made, skipping the group photo-op last week in Chicago. What about the rest of them? Donaldson, for one, was chairman when the SEC voted in 2004 to let the big Wall Street banks, including Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Bear Stearns Cos., lever up their balance sheets like drunks. Talk about blowing it.

And whom did Obama tap for White House chief of staff? Rahm Emanuel, the Illinois congressman who was a director at Freddie Mac in 2000 and 2001 while it was committing accounting fraud.

Ideally, this job would go to someone who can’t be easily fooled. Think about it: Of all the people Obama could have chosen as his chief of staff, couldn’t he have found someone who wasn’t once on the board of Freddie Mac?

Renewed Confidence

The president-elect needs some new advisers — fast. We are in a crisis of confidence in American capitalism. These aren’t the right people to re-instill its sense of honor.

Many of them should be getting subpoenas as material witnesses right about now, not places in Obama’s inner circle. Did Obama learn nothing from the ill-fated choice of James Johnson, the former Fannie Mae boss, to lead his vice- presidential search committee?

Does he think people like Robert Rubin or Richard Parsons will offer any helpful advice on how to stop crooked bankers or sleep-walking directors from sinking our economy? Or that they won’t mistake the nation’s needs for their own corporate interests? Or that the people who helped get us into our long financial nightmare have any clue how to get us out?

Obama has created hope that our nation can stand for all that is good in the world again. It’s not too late to change course.

Start by scrapping this board.

Obama to Inherit “New Global Order” from Bush

The bankruptcy of Iceland, now receiving a $2.1 billion two-year loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) “to support an economic recovery program,” has been depicted as something that could never happen to America. Is the U.S. too big to fail? Or is the U.S. going through the same process, albeit on a slower basis?

Will we wake up to discover that America is now a bit player in a “New World Order” dominated by China, rich Arab nations, and international institutions?

The politicians from both major U.S. political parties are attempting, with the help of the media, to mask what is happening by passing what they call a financial “rescue” and economic “stimulus” packages. The word “stimulus” is sort of like “rescue.” This is actually a process of piling up more debt and spending on top of more debt and spending. This puts us more at the mercy of those who decide to lend us money.

On November 15, the crisis goes global, as the Bush White House hosts an “international summit” designed, in the words of some of those participating, to create new “international financial architecture.” This means increasing the power and financial resources of international agencies like the IMF, possibly by implementing global taxes on the U.S. and other nations.

Anticipating the event, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says the current turmoil in the world economy offers a chance to build a “new global order” based on cooperation and opportunity. Brown summarized his approach as “internationalist, interventionist and progressive,” says a release from his office.

And all of this is happening under a “conservative” U.S. President by the name of George W. Bush.

Many of those attending the Washington, D.C. event will be associated with the Socialist International, which issued a statement calling for the new international financial architecture to include a World Financial Organization. A World Tax Organization can be expected to follow. It has been on the U.N. drawing board for years.

The first meeting of the Socialist International Commission on Global Financial Issues was held in Vienna, Austria, on November 3, and suggested “tackling the issue of insufficient financial resources in multilateral institutions and regional development banks by seeking new sources of funding and lending facilities, as well as more fundamental reforms in the global economic governance.” This is bureaucratic doublespeak for finding new foreign aid money, possibly through a global tax, and cutting the U.S. down to size economically.

One of the key members of this Socialist International commission is Columbia University Professor Joseph Stiglitz, a “revolutionary” economist who was named by Miguel D’Escoto, the new Marxist President of the U.N. General Assembly, to run a U.N. task force on international financial matters. Stiglitz, a key player in the emerging “New Global Order,” wrote a Sunday Washington Post article urging more foreign aid spending, a new global warming treaty reducing U.S. use of energy, and an expensive carbon tax on Americans.

On October 13, Stiglitz was among a group of economists meeting with Democratic politicians on Capitol Hill to devise their new economic “stimulus” plan. Obama says he wants this “stimulus” as soon as possible.

In a release from the World Economic Forum, Suzanne Nora Johnson, Senior Director of Goldman Sachs, USA, and a Trustee of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, declared that the Washington summit “gives us great opportunities to find solutions and new ways of looking at the world.” Johnson says that, while there has been “protectionist reaction” in the U.S. to sovereign wealth fund investments, as a result of the liquidity crisis there would now be greater openness to such deals. Sovereign Wealth Funds are government financial entities based in China and several Arab/Muslim states.

In this context, the Center for Security Policy and other groups recently held a news conference to draw attention to how the Treasury Department is planning to implement aspects of Islamic banking in the U.S. In a release, the Coalition Against Shariah declared that, “It is especially alarming that the Treasury Department is now in a position to impose its submission to Shariah on the various financial institutions which it has bought in recent weeks or otherwise controls. With the nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, its purchase of-at last count-17 banks and the enormous leverage associated with its $700 billion slush-fund, Treasury can be an irresistible force should it actively promote Shariah-Compliant Finance.”

The release notes with alarm that Assistant Treasury Secretary Neel Kashkari, the official charged with administering the bailout “slush fund,” delivered the welcoming remarks at a November 6 Treasury event titled “Islamic Finance 101″ It seemed designed to attract more Arab/Muslim dollars into the U.S. financial system.

It is apparently the Treasury’s view that America’s only hope in this financial crisis is to print more money through the Federal Reserve and attract more foreign money, especially from China and the Arab states. Perhaps the U.S. will even have to go to the IMF for financial help. Nothing can be ruled out at this point because no one seems to know how bad it will get.

But none of this will come without a steep cost. And we can see already that the cost will include not only our wealth, savings and retirement accounts

, but the sovereignty of the United States.

A newly rediscovered 2006 audio clip has shed more light on Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama’s plan for compulsory community service and a “national civilian security force”. In an interview with Ben Smith of the New York Daily News, Emanuel outlined the agenda for military-style training, essentially a domestic draft, aimed at preparing Americans for a chemical or biological terrorist attack.

Will the liberal left pay as much attention to Emanuel’s stated agenda to implement a proxy domestic draft as they did to rumors of Bush bringing back conscription, or will the true scope of Obama’s “national civilian security force” continue to fly under the radar?

Asked by Smith about the universal service plan and whether people would have to live in military barracks, Emanuel laughed before responding, “We’re going to have universal civil defense training, somewhere between the ages of 18 to 25 you will do three months of training….but there can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint similar experience of what we call civil defense training or civil service in service of the country, in preparation, which will give people a sense of what it means to be an American.”

In response to the point that the program was significantly expanded in comparison to what the U.S. government already has in place, Emanuel responded, “Guess what – we have a lot more challenges so we are going to need a lot to do it.”

What challenges is Emanuel referring to? The same crisis foretold by Joe Biden, Colin Powell and others that we are “guaranteed” will unfold shortly after Obama takes office?

“It will be a common experience and we will be prepared, God forbid, God forbid that there is a chemical hit, another terrorist act or natural disaster becoming more frequent – there’ll be a body of citizens who are ready and capable and trained – that’s all you have to think about,” said Emanuel before smugly declaring, “We’re all here for you OK? It’s a circle of love.”

Asked if the training would be military style, with people wearing uniforms, Emanuel stated, “If you’re worried about are you going to have to do 50 jumping jacks the answer is yes,” adding that the service could be done through state national guard.

A jumping jack is a military term for an exercise otherwise known as a star jump. What on earth does Emanuel mean when he says Americans are going to be forced to perform military-style physical exercises and what does this have to do with civil defense or preparing for a terrorist attack? It sounds more like the state-mandated physical workouts described in Orwell’s 1984.

The video then features a clip from C-Span from August 2006 in which Emanuel is asked whether the program will be compulsory, to which he responds, “In a sense it’s required of everybody, 18 to 25, three months, and at some point at that point you do it.”

The use of the word “required” is noteworthy, because this exact terminology was removed from Obama’s change.gov website when controversy over the program arose last week.

The militarized nature of the program and its supposed intention sounds more like a draft-lite than the “community service” angle now being pitched on Obama’s website. It also bears similarities to the nationwide FEMA-run program training pastors and preachers to act as “pacifiers” in the event of martial law being declared after a terror attack or a natural disaster.

Will the liberal left pay as much attention to Emanuel’s stated agenda to implement a proxy domestic draft as they did to rumors of Bush bringing back conscription, or will the true scope of Obama’s “national civilian security force” continue to fly under the radar?

Paulson Says Troubled Assets Will Not Be Purchased

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Wednesday the $700 billion government rescue program will not be used to purchase troubled assets as originally planned.

Paulson said the administration will continue to use $250 billion of the program to purchase stock in banks as a way to bolster their balance sheets and encourage them to resume more normal lending.

He announced a new goal for the program to support financial markets, which supply consumer credit in such areas as credit card debt, auto loans and student loans.

Paulson said that 40 percent of U.S. consumer credit is provided through selling securities that are backed by pools of auto loans and other such debt. He said these markets need support.

“This market, which is vital for lending and growth, has for all practical purposes ground to a halt,” Paulson said.

The administration decided that using billions of dollars to buy troubled assets of financial institutions at the current time was “not the most effective way” to use the $700 billion bailout package, he said.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama is unlikely to radically overhaul controversial Bush administration intelligence policies, advisers say, an approach that is almost certain to create tension within the Democratic Party.

Civil-liberties groups were among those outraged that the White House sanctioned the use of harsh intelligence techniques — which some consider torture — by the Central Intelligence Agency, and expanded domestic spy powers. These groups are demanding quick action to reverse these policies.

Mr. Obama is being advised largely by a group of intelligence professionals, including some who have supported Republicans, and centrist former officials in the Clinton administration. They say he is likely to fill key intelligence posts with pragmatists.

“He’s going to take a very centrist approach to these issues,” said Roger Cressey, a former counterterrorism official in the Clinton and Bush administrations. “Whenever an administration swings too far on the spectrum left or right, we end up getting ourselves in big trouble.”

For the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, it is a “new Bretton Woods”, as important as the 1944 convention that established the modern financial world order. For Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to remake the global financial architecture and usher in an era of “regulated capitalism”. But beware the headlines that these leaders try to manufacture when they assemble for their credit crisis summit in Washington this weekend.

What we have is a summit without an agenda, on a crisis without an agreed cause, in a country without a functioning government. The US – whose outgoing President agreed to hold the meeting under French pressure, and whose President-elect, keen to stress that the US has “only one president at a time”, won’t even be there – has already bristled at European talk of a creating new supra-national regulators and international rules.

So little wonder everyone else is scrambling to downplay expectations for what might emerge, and to lengthen the timetable for achieving results. As one person from the UK delegation put it, “Bretton Woods took two years”.

FEMA CONCENTRATION CAMPS: Locations and Executive Orders

There over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general’s signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on Ashcroft’s list.

The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a “mass exodus” of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into prisons.

Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population. Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

The camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners. Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and can hold approximately 2 million people.

Contingency plan

Business and government contingency plans need to include planning for marketing to gain stakeholder support and understanding. Stakeholders need to be kept informed of the reasons for any changes, the vision of the end result and the proposed plan for getting there. The level of stakeholders’ importance and influence should be considered when determining the amount of marketing required, the timescales for implementation and completion, and the overall effectiveness of the plan. If time permits, input and consultation from the most influential stakeholders should be incorporated into the building of any contingency plan as without acceptance from these people any plan will at best encounter limited success.

During times of crisis, contingency plans are often developed to explore and prepare for any eventuality. During the Cold war, many governments made contingency plans to protect themselves and their citizens in case of a nuclear attack. Today there are still contingency plans in place to deal with terrorist attacks or other catastrophes.

Good question, maybe because it’s better to be safe than sorry. You can think what you want about me but I like plans. I like back-up plans even more. I like knowing where the emergency exits are. I like knowing the high school my little cousin goes to has a metal detector, along with my airport. I never want to use my airbag but I’m glad it’s there, same thing with the lifeguard at the beach. I’m glad that cop looked at me funny when I pulled up beside him, even tho I ain’t do nothing. But the dude in the stolen car behind me is about to get popped!

My thing is this, stuff happens. Eathquakes, blackouts, riots, droughts, medical epidemics, violent attacks, ect…

I’d rather have plans in place; no matter how sinister they sound on paper; that are never used, than have none at all.

My cousin worked at the pentagon for 12 years. He told me that the U.S. has had plans drawn up, and updated yearly, for the last 40 years, to conduct surgical, tactical, strategic, & nuclear attacks on every country on the face of the earth. Every one, even the Bahama’s!

Does that make me lie awake at night waiting for the missiles to fly? No.

Mainly the government has these contingency plan for a civil uprising. You have a lot of people in America losing a lot of money, losing homes, we have an immigration issue…What if the governmnet ended illegal immigration right this monent, thats would be a civil uprising right there…and the fact that guns out number people…..But always remember the powers that be are about the money…They need to keep us working on the clock..Why to you think they all way monitor the unemploymnet rate all the time….

As long as you signed a legit mortgage agreement, that you have not broken, they can’t ask for crap but proof of insurance!

Dont ever think the bank cant take your house..THE FED CONTROLS THE BANKS…..They lend the banks money at interest as well…The bank then lends the money to us..Its happened before during the 30′s Great Depression, from marginal loans…banks back then lent loans at 10%. Chase was the biggest bank at the time…They manipulated the market with propanda throught the newspapers, and caused frenzy…people started to withdrawal their money (just like now)…Then Chase did a massive call out for the money it lent to the smaller banks to lend to the people…The smaller banks didnt have the money because the people didnt have it..There for Chase seized the assets of the smaller banks…THEN EMERGED THE FEDERAL RESERVE…

Arabs immigrants are not all terrorists and this is kind of a racist view that many Americans hold. Even in their own country the terrorists are in the minority and any race that wants to terrorize can ban together in the US and do harm. Look at Calibine(sp) that was american citizens. FDA to detain food shipments from China

WASHINGTON — Federal health officials on Thursday slapped a sweeping detention order on dozens of imported food products from China, from snacks and drinks to chocolates and candies.

It’s unusual for the Food and Drug Administration to put such a broad hold on goods from an entire country, not just a few rogue manufacturers. The agency said the action was needed as a precaution to keep out foods contaminated with the industrial chemical melamine, which can cause serious kidney problems.

“The problem of melamine contamination in Chinese food products is a recurring one,” said the FDA order, posted on the Internet. Under the directive, FDA inspectors can hold foods made with milk ingredients at ports of entry until independent tests show they are melamine-free. The order also applies to pet foods and some bulk protein products.

Essentially, the FDA action shifts the burden of proof to Chinese companies, which must now supply evidence that their products are safe.

Unscrupulous companies in China have routinely watered down milk, then added melamine to artificially boost protein readings on quality tests. The practice became known after the Beijing Olympics this summer. It backfired when tens of thousands of Chinese children got sick with kidney problems after drinking contaminated infant formula. Nearly 13,000 children were hospitalized in China, and at least four died.

The U.S. does not import milk or infant formula from China, and no illnesses have been reported here. But authorities from California to Connecticut have found melamine-contaminated candies and drinks during inspections at Asian groceries. Thursday’s FDA order widens a directive from last month authorizing inspectors to detain goods from 10 Chinese companies.

“The problem of melamine contamination (in China) is not limited to infant formula products,” said the FDA order. “Chinese government sources indicate contamination of milk components, especially dried milk powder, which are used in a variety of finished foods. These contaminated milk components appear to have been dispersed throughout the Chinese food supply chain.”

The melamine scandal is now weeks old, but FDA officials said it has taken that long to comply with legal requirements that detention orders be scrupulously backed by evidence. A national poll released earlier this week by Consumers Union found that the public wants foreign food-producing facilities inspected as frequently as domestic ones: about once a month. The FDA has nowhere near the number of inspectors to fulfill that desire, and instead mainly relies on U.S. food companies to require that their foreign supplier maintain high standards.

I only met him once, and a group of people were discussing money, and an interested conversation began. Aaron was known to have a proud and assertive attitude (hearsay prior to me officialy meeting him), but he was very friendly and gracious towards me when I met him at a black tie event.

I’ve never delved into the New Age because I’m still skeptical, but this material is highly consequential and substantial. After seeing certain family members become stricken with cancerous cells, along with the millions of Americans who are dying daily, healing theories appears to be potent by preventing malignant and benign cells. I’ve heard of cures that already exist for AIDS/HIV and cancer. These pharmaceutical companies (GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck & Co., etc.), the American Cancer Society, and International HIV/AIDS will no longer be of use to benefit from patients with terminal diseases, and that makes their obligations of no importance. It’s all about enormous profits for some, and NOT the morbid people. IMO. That’s why I have a major problem with these companies.
