Well, maybe the French are really nice after all.

Sidney Poitier received high honors Thursday at the 59th Cannes Film Festival Event for “breaking down barriers for black actors everywhere”.

He received the first Academy Award ever given to an African American for the 1963 movie, “Lilies in the Field”.

Way to go Sid and thanks for being so cool.
