An embarrassing mistake outside a school in the Lower East Side has been corrected.
The word school is spelled ‘SHCOOL’ on the street in front of Marta Valle High School.
Con Edison told FOX 5 News that the company hired a contractor to do repair work below Stanton Street over the summer. The H and C were painted in the wrong order.
On Tuesday afternoon, crews repainting the word.
During an interview with Good Day New York, talk radio host John Gambling said the misspelling was emblematic of the conditions inside the school since Marta Valle is known as one of the most problematic schools in the city. The school has been accused of under-reporting violent acts.
