On Thursday’s show to promote her new album, I Am Sasha Fierce, Beyonce finally revealed a few sparse details about her wedding day. “It was very private, and I can say outside it was paparazzi and it was madness, and inside it was really beautiful,” Beyonce told Oprah, adding that it’s taken her a while to realize the value of keeping her personal life her own. “I had to really learn how to have boundaries and how to have balance,” she said. “It’s something that I have never really talked about, and I still feel like it was difficult–and it still is–because I’m so excited about it. But it’s important that I keep things that are pure and real in perspective and I keep it separate from my performance life.”
Beyonce told Oprah it feels great to be married but added that it’s also important to make a commitment to yourself before walking down the aisle. “Make sure you have your own life before you’re someone else’s wife,” she said. Meanwhile, Beyonce tells Seventeen Magazine’s Dec./Jan. issue that she consciously waited until she was of a certain age to get married. “Before the age of 25 I would never get married,” the singer, now 27, says. “I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself and be proud of who you are before you can share that with somebody else.” She adds, I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30.”

You know what you Bey stans. I like beyonce but sometimes she really makes me sick. First of all I am tired of her. Now this comment may make some of you guys mad but sometimes Bey wants to have it both ways. She wants to be in the spotlight when she is promoting her album or movies but she does not want to anyone in her business. It seems that she will do anything for promo. I mention this before in another comment about Beyonce, I am growing apart from her music. I am 32 years old and married with no kids, no I am not fat and ugly and I am a retired model who wears a size 2. I live right on the beach and I have a rock on my finger just like her and I can go out and buy what I want when I want it. So I am not a hater, I just think Beyonce is afraid of falling off. Don’t you guys find it strange that she drops her albums right at the time brandy, Michelle and her own little sister have theirs out come on you guys. This girl has a problem she wants to remain on top even if that means destroying her own little sister’s dream. I am starting not to like her. I think she is talented when it comes to performing and singing but the girl cannot act so far in what I have seen her in. I hope she gets what she wants out of life what ever she is searching for. GO HAVE SOME BABIES GIRL AND GET OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT. If she is not carefull she is going to self-destruct. Too much of one thing is a bad thing. Peace.

I don’t totally hate this chick because I respect the hell out of her hustle. She’s a hard working woman, and you always need to give props for that. I am tired of her though. I’ve never bought a Beyonce album, but in my opinion (STANS: THIS IS JUST A PERSONAL OPINION), the music should grow with the artist. Once she branched away from Knowles’ Child (I mean Destiny’s Child), to put out DIL, the content in the singles I heard were more mature than that of DC3. Since then however, it sounds like she’s been putting out her debut solo album over and over and over again. Like I said, I respect her hustle, but I’ll never buy an album. I think you are setting up a stram man argument. No one is asking you to worship Beyonce. You have to be honest though. Of all the images of black women out today, do you really think she is the worst, the most damaging? No she isnt. So if you are going to accuse her for setting a bad example there are black females out there that are worse.
I am critical of her weaves too. I dont think she needs them. She is fine just the way she is but her whole industry is fake. Besides black females have been rocking weaves and being fake long before Beyonce came along. If you want to have a discussion about the self esteem of black girls, dont bring up Beyonce. She is one of the few images that they can be proud of. They are far more negatively impacted by their personal familial situations than Beyonce.

I have seen a number of blackwomen who have damaged hair that is slow growing. Natural hair does not mean that it will grow healthy and strong. Some black women have problems with thining, and balding at the nape and hairline. This is not always a direct result of a relaxer, too much heat, or too much tension from ponytails.
A woman no matter how confident she may be will not want to go out in public with her hair damaged or almost bald. That is the the good thing about a weave. A woman does not have to subject herself to ridicule if she is having trouble with her own hair.

Anyone who knows anything about music knows that sales and awards does not equal talent and I believe we can use Milli Vanili, Soldier Boy and several artists in between as examples. Jill Scott will never sell as many records as Bey. She will never be on the cover of as many magazines, will never win as many awards and will never sell out large arenas. But after seeing Jill Scott in concert recently, I truly feel she is one of the most talented singer/songwriters out there – white, black, male or female. And here’s the thing that separates her (and Aretha Frankin, Mary J or even Pink and Carrie Underwood) from Bey and other artists who follow in Bey’s footsteps: their vulnerablity. Now, I’m not saying I want to know every detail about Jay and Bey’s relationship. I really don’t and I understand why they want to keep their relationship private (regular people’s relationships struggle enough just trying to keep our friends and family from being too far in our business, I can’t imagine what it would be like to have several strangers weigh in on my relationship on a daily basis)however, people relate to honesty in songs, whether the honesty comes from the delivery of the song or the lyrics. When I listen to a Jill Scott or Mary J song, I can feel the emotion, even if it’s about a situation that I can’t relate to at the time. (Don’t even get me started on Aretha or Stevie Nicks, I can cry to “Ain’t No Way” or “Silver Springs” every time I hear those songs). And being vulerable is not always about having a broken heart, it’s about being able to lay your feelings out there, positive and negative, without fear. That’s a quality that will always resonate with listeners, and that’s why some people feel that Bey is fake. I think she’s very guarded and wants to control her image and she has every right to be that way, however, those who appreciate true musical artistry know that it’s not about your image (seriously, the amount of time people spend discussing her hair, skin and clothing speaks to how shallow some folks are), it’s about the desire to connect with people through music and is something that cannot be manufactured.

I co- sign 100%. My best friend since childhood had hardly any hair. It is so thin and short. We were children in the 80’s and there were no weaves just wigs. she wore her own hair and was ridiculed mercilessly. Now as an adult she wears weaves and looks fabulous. She has her confidence back but the memories of ridicule will always be there. She didn’t want to be white, she just wanted hair.
