Superstar Pitcher Josh Hamilton Suffers From Drug And Alcohol Relapse

Here’s a lesson on the ills of drugs and booze, kids.

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, recovering from alcohol and drug addictions, had a relapse this week in his quest to remain sober. The Rangers have scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. today with Josh Hamilton in attendance.

According to individuals familiar with the episode, Hamilton drank alcohol on Monday night at Sherlock’s Pub in Dallas. Teammate Ian Kinsler also showed up at the bar for what appeared to be an attempt to convince Hamilton to return to his home in Westlake.

This was Hamilton’s second alcohol-related relapse in three years. In January 2009, he drank to excess in a bar in Tempe, Ariz.

In a statement, the Rangers said they were “aware of a situation, but we do not have further comment at this time.” Hamilton could not be reached for comment.

Of course, people have been wondering if he’d be getting as many chances if he were a Black athlete like T.O., who can’t even get a gig in the NFL. Whatever the case, we hope Hamilton gets his act together and finally cleans up.
