@jerseygirl, since we are labeling here, then all black people are really kings and queens here and white people are a bunch of murdering theives, that need to go back to Europe and give America back to the Indians. You are probably on welfare wishing minorities away, so you can get more benefits!

Well to point something out here, Free speech is all speech. Its what this country supports no matter what. Its an opinion of a couple of kids not of the school and they put it where free speech is encouraged. Its legal, its horrible, but its legal and they should be allowed to do it without repercussions.

ugh. LEGALLY FREE SPEECH AND HATE SPEECH ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS! ONE IS PROTECTED ONE IS NOT!!… if this so called wall is where “free” speech is encouraged why sanction them at all! cuz its HATE SPEECH!

we had a similar “rock” at our college where we could paint/write whatever we wanted. If we ever put up anything like that we would have been charged and sanctioned by the school!

but is ok cuz u know what? THEIR PRESIDENT IS BLACK TOO!!!

Obama has more security detail than Bush and that was before he was president elect. The issue of whether it is moral or ethical really falls on the University–we know where these students already stand. The school who promotes free speech cannot revoke what the wall was intended for in the first place. However, morally and ethically racial slurs and any expression of acts of violence should be prohibited by school officials. When these stories gain media attention I think that swift and harsh measures should be taken to discourage these types of issues from reoccuring. Taking emotion out of the situation–I think that stating a president should be shot and planning to do it are two totally different things. It is the platform that is used to promote such ignorant behavior. I would love an update as to the outcome. Go Obama!!!

If this had to do with Bush, Cheney, or anybody else for that matter you’d be cheering them on, it makes me sick to hear white ppl being labeled as racist when black ppl are just as racist as whites! Get back in the welfare line and collect your govt hand outs lazy asses, and stop crying about every little thing that is said about Obama. Is it me, or was the Columbine student “just a kid”? We see what people are able to do when there is ignorance and hate involved. Better yet, with all the nonsense that George Bush has created ( 2 Wars, bad economy) did anyone exercise their right to say kill him? My advice to Obama, get a Pope Mobile early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are too many haters in this world and he needs to stay a step ahead of them.

It’s not free speech if it’s a threat made against POTUS, as the other writer commented. Therefore, who ever wrote the threat should be prosecuted. Free speech does not include threats of death or calls to murder the President. Duh, NC, you’re a university and don’t know this or you’re just faking the education game, as if you didn’t know.
