KING: Were you disappointed that Kim was the only one from Big’s past not supporting Notorious?
When I think about it, it’s really sad, because this movie is honoring somebody who helped build her and Junior M.A.F.I.A. This is going to be a movie that Brooklyn…the whole country could be proud of. So it’s unfortunate that somebody who was there and benefited by becoming a figurehead in hip-hop isn’t supportive.
KING: But didn’t you and Kim record a song together?
Yeah, I had a song called “Real Chick” that I wrote and then recorded with Full Force. It went, “Real chicks do real things.” I’ve always liked Lil’ Kim and said it’d be so dope if she got on it. I wasn’t even in town, but Paul Anthony and Bowlegged Lou had a connection with her people, and she showed love with a verse. So it was a song that was already created and she jumped on it. I still haven’t had the
privilege of working with her.
KING: Keeping it completely real, does the Cheetah Girls’ success irk you?
Not at all. I’m like, “Wow, that’s great. They’re doing the Disney thing and it’s working for them.” I’m not in the group, but I don’t wish any ill will toward them. I’m happy and glad I get to work and not be stuck in one zone, like a kids’ market. I’m just so happy to be an actress who’s not doing one thing. I’m going to get mine at the end of the day. It does me no good to hate.
