So as you can see, even Christians had slaves. They did not release them upon being baptized into Christ. Paul supported it and goes on to tie it in with “godliness” and the teachings of Christ.

Clearly you don’t know your Bible. I suggest you read the New Testament very very carefully. Try starting with Philemon. You may also want to seek out a book called Slavery in Early Christianity by Jennifer Glancy, that will give you a complete historical breakdown of slaves and who had them.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t have rights. You do, you can put your life partner on your health insurance, but I can’t insure my elderly mother! Not saying that I agree with that viewpoint but I think that is the way a lot of anti-gay marriage proponents, especially those in the Black community, are looking at it.
