Remember When…Three 6 Mafia And Taraji P. Henson Performed At The Oscars?!

This actually happened…

In 2005, the Memphis, Tennessee rap conglomerate known as Three 6 Mafia, scored an Oscar for their Hustle and Flow theme song “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp”. Not only was this a shock to most of the people in attendance that night, WE were flabbergasted as well.

In addition to winning the prestigious award, the syrup-sippin’ rhyme-spitters actually PERFORMED this lil street-walker diddy on prime-time, with Taraji P. Henson crooning (not “cooning”) away in front a Kodak Theater full of white folks who were probably wondering “Who the HELL are these ninjas jumpin’ around stage, and why are their t-shirts so long?!?!”

Nonetheless, the Oscar and the performance was a win for the hip-hop community despite how it might have been received by some.

Wonder if we will witness anything as entertaining as this on Sunday when the 2012 Oscars air?

Flip the script to relive one of the most head-scratching moments in Oscar history.
