Al Qaeda Issues a Statement to Obama

Al Qaeda has issued a statement to Obama and other top black politicians:
A purported message from al Qaeda’s deputy leader posted on Islamist Web sites on Wednesday told President-elect Barack Obama that “a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits you.”
Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s No. 2, castigated Obama, saying “in you and in Colin Powell, (Condoleezza) Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning ‘House Negroes’ are confirmed.”
It sounds as though this message has a little ambiguity and can be dissected a few different ways, but for the safety of Obama and our country, we’re going to take that message as fighting words.

Before you get too exited about Clinton and his past “accomplishments” remember a couple of things. First, he was the one in charge when they repealed the Glass-Steagall Act (subsequently deregulating banks) that was originally put in place after the depression of the 30’s to avoid the same thing happening again. This helped to put us in the economic crisis we are in now. You said WE made money? Some did but the numbers said everybody gained income collectively EXCEPT the Black MAN (the Black women however prospered helping to remove us as the head of household and is actually the catalyst to many a debate right here on bossip). Instead more Black men were locked up under his administration than ANY president in US history and that is saying alot. Just because that idiot put on shades and played the sax on the Arsenio Hall show does not mean he served our best interest.

Yes, I know about journalism — I studied it in school, and I’m familiar with the early forms of reporting. But I cannot accept a site that posts known and documented inaccurate information as a credible source. This site is still spreading the false claim that Obama is not a U.S. citizen, no? We are not far off from that totalitarian type situation depicted in the book. If you haven’t read it (I’m willing to bet you have actually) then you should. It’s light reading with a lot of fictional situations that reek of realism (thought police, dept. of information, etc.). Its a fictional novel but a political statement none the less. The Matrix was just a fictional movie but the subliminal messages blew my mind.

It is rare that a film lives up to its literary counterpart. The only exception I’ve found, in my opinion, is The Color Purple. The book didn’t move me as much as the film.

The Color Purple was a good movie. I don’t know if it was better than the book to me. You just can’t follow the charachter’s thoughts watching a movie in the same way that you can reading the novel. Honestly, I don’t think I can recall one movie that I found to be superior to the book but then again I read more than I watch TV / movies. They say when we watch TV (even a documentary) our brainwaves are basically idle because all information is being fed to us. They are more active during sleep. Of course I question Obama’s policies and other issues — for one, I’m concerned about whether Bush monitoring policies will be kept intact after he takes office. I also wonder about the future of affirmative action programs, which I believe should remain intact.
I never said that Obama is above criticism — what I said is he and his policies should be judged based on facts, not erroneous propaganda, and I stand by that.

Alice Walker’s use of the first-person journal perspective in The Color Purple — which normally works for me — just didn’t resonate with me like the film did (which I grant did veer away in many scenes from the actual text of the book). That was the only instance when I preferred the cinematic portrayal of a literary work. Normally, I’m miserably disappointed when a book is translated to the big screen because so much is lost — take Toni Morrison’s “Beloved,” for example. I loved the book and was mesmerized by the metaphorical imagery, but it didn’t translate well at all as a film, and the work suffered, I thought. People actually laughed in scenes when I saw it in the theater.

Sophia Stewart…..I had to google that myself. The manuscript “the Third Eye” was agreed by a judge to be undoubtedly plaglarized by the makers of the Matrix and Terminator. However, her lawyers messed up something on a technicality so it was supposed to go back to court (I can’t remember what the legal issue was). Soon after she suspiciously dropped the case (pay off?). I have to google that whole story to refresh my memory but that is the gist of it.

I agree — I’m just emphasizing that I’m a stickler for facts.
Case in point, I remember when I first saw Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, and I was taken aback by how little I knew about the connection between Bush and bin Laden, and the information was presented in a manner that people called partisan, but it was believable.
There’s an irony to this whole conversation because I studied and was a member of a field that actually encourages challenging established beliefs for the deeper truth, so I don’t consider myself close-minded. Many government conspiracies have been uncovered through the years, and journalists played a huge part in that. Reporters Woodward and Bernstein, for example, helped uncover Watergate through tenacious reporting and the mining of sources.

Half true. People over the world do know far more about “America’s pat racial turmoils”, but you exaggerate the influence of “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”. If anyone was to ask most participants of any anti-colonial liberation struggle who’s writings most influenced their movements they’d cite Marx, Lenin, Mao, Kropotkin, Fanon, Garvey and even Gaddafi’s Green Book. The Autobiography of Malcolm X had zero impact on revolutionary thought throughtout the world because it was hardly read, certainly in the 60s and 70s, compared to the above mentioned writers. Also it’s content is largely personal and provides no idelogical inspiration relevant to the revolutionary movements. Also the protests of MLK and the SCLC provided a far greater inspiration for civil protest movements across the world than anything Malcolm X wrote or did. Big up to everyone fighting for justice in the US but you need to ease up from the US centre world view and look at the world from different perspectives.

It seems that you’re referring to governmental officials, and I was confused about whether you were including journalists as people involved in conspiracies. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Behold the Pale Horse – William Cooper. He was killed in a gun fight with the Sheriff’s Dept. somewhere in Florida I believe. Thanks, I think, lol. I think there’s good and bad in every field, but as far as reputations, I think journalists rank down there with lawyers. I will say that it’s a field that attracts some of the smartest, altruistic, inquisitive people you’ll come across, and many want to do the right thing because they truly care about people and want to give a voice to the voiceless.
From a journalistic perspective, the past eight years have been hellish because access to the White House has been so restricted. Hopefully, that won’t be the case with Obama and coverage of him can be more thorough.

I think I’m getting confused between references to journalists and references to “sources,” which include government officials. Reporters, particularly investigative journalists, often obtain information from anonymous sources, but these sources, who may or may not be involved in conspiracies, are not journalists.
Now there have been incidents of reporters who have inappropriate relationships with sources — I think I saw a story recently of a Miami reporter who had a romantic affair with a city official who was a primary source for her articles. I don’t really consider that a conspiracy, though — more of a ethical violation.

The only thing about ordering online is the fact that you still are not anonymous at all, especially since I would be using my check card. Like I said, I just went to an independent book store where they did have a copy in stock. I had to travel (independent anything is a dying breed around the metropolitan area) but I was able to use cash without the inquisition. Actually it wasn’t the last time it happened either. I wanted a newer copy of “Spook Who Sat by the Door” – Sam Greenlee (I wish they would remake that movie but the novel was powerful) since mine is becoming yellow and brittle. And, yes, the Bush years have been depressing on a multitude of levels. I think my breaking point came during Katrina when I watched people in anguish on TV for days. I’ve never seen so many black men cry, and seeing children with no shelter, food or water broke my heart. I couldn’t believe it — I just could not believe that people — Americans — were failed so miserably and the gross incompetence of government officials. There were people left for dead in the streets — someone’s mother, father, or child. I read an article in the New York Times about one corpse found, and it was one of the most moving accounts of a tragedy I’ve ever read.
That can never happen again.

Yes, editors have to review and approve articles, and reporters at times have to compromise or fight certain changes. I think reporters have to establish relationships with their editors that allow for a free exchange of ideas and respect of a particular reporter’s writing style. Yes, it can be a battle at times.

A copy of that book is hard to find. They stopped printing them in the 70s so any one you find will be used unless somebody reprinted it that I don’t know of. That movie was thought to be destroyed (Hollywood wanted to wipe it off the face of the earth) but someone saved a copy so it is now available on DVD. You have it on reel to reel? Wow, as rare as that is you need to protect that. Try to read the book though if you can find a copy. As always, it is much better than the movie.

Yeah, that could work but just not at my local public library. I don’t know if all are like this but I have to show ID to use their computer. My computer was taken down with a virus about a year ago and I went to the library to use theirs and they wanted my liscense AND my library card. They input my info on their system that corresponded my name to whichever computer I was using. IDK, it’s getting harder to duck the overseeing eye but the prepaid debit card makes sense on a lot of different levels.

Oh yeah. I trust and believe. Just like Obama will never be just the president. He will always be the “first Black president”. I’ve tried watching some of TV One’s programs — I think they have a show called “What Black Men Think,” for example. I think it’s better than BET, but it still has a ways to do in terms of programming development. From what I can tell, it shows a lot of older films.

Okay, you touched on something that I think about sometimes too. Here goes: I sometimes like to believe that we come back as someone else when we die. Deja Vue is what a lot of people call it. You experience something and you feel as if you’ve done the EXACT SAME THING, but at another time / place.
And we say it about children… my little cousin at a year and a half noticed that her feet was dirty. She just went into the bathroom, got some tissue and wet it and promptly wiped her own feet off. We all looked at her and said the same thing. “this child as been here before.”

That is something — I don’t know much about reincarnation, but it is a very interesting concept. I have thought a lot about what happens to people in the afterlife, to my loved ones who have passed, etc.

We really need to take advantage of public access TV, it is a rare opportunity for our community to be heard, for $10 grand you can be a PBS member with influence of a producer. We do have the power to create black media outlets in each of our own communities. And not be forced to settle for bullshit programs like CNN’s black in America. I just saw this Japanese film — and one thing I love about Asian films is their focus on mysticism and spirituality — and in the movie, the spirits of people who were deceased would enter the bodies of infants as they were born. 100% cosign that. Unification is the key but few understand what unity entails. Many will complain about the condition of the Black community but do nothing about it. Run away from it as soon as possible and never look back. The youth that are so easily refered to as thugs, hos, pimps, etc. are OUR children and if we don’t collectively do something about it, the system will. I think both brothers and sisters are in pain and don’t always express that effectively. I can tell from many of the comments that individuals have experienced or are experiencing heartbreak or some other emotional turmoil that taints their perceptions. I think if at our core we didn’t love each other, we wouldn’t bother conversing with each other at all. There has always been a bond between black men and women that is steeped in history, and that history carries a lot of trauma that I think has affected us to this day.
