she may not sell as well as her sister, but musically and creatively, Solange is stomping the shit out of that crap her sister just put out. this joint is fire, and solange deserves to be recognized by the grammy academy for this album. but we all know she won’t because the grammy voters have already been paid to give awards to her sister lol.

solange rocks. clearly more talented than that other girl she’s related to. and i haven’t heard anyone accusing solange of stealing their songs. that’s probably why her stuff is so good this time around; she didn’t jack somebody else’s songs like those who shall remain nameless (beyonce).

I’m kinda’ digging the rhythm but WTF is up with sitting on the toilet in the video!! Scrapping the bottom of the barrel on the shock value. Grabbing lotion to perform a simulated sex ON A TOILET!! Yarg! Very tasteless and tacky.

I like this song. I can relate to this song…the one dude who just ruined everything for you. The video however…eh. People seem to think that when a video is black & white its automatically great, even if its in actuality low budget *cough*single ladies*cough*. I don’t care for Solange but she definitely has a better sound than her sister right now. Has it ever occurred to those that just wrote her off as wack, that if Beyonce sang this shit that some of you would be lovin’ it? Didn’t think so.
Oh and another thing. This is actually a very clever concept…the toilet thing…was she masturbating or taking a pregnancy test?

I am digging this song and video! the last single was hot as well. Solange has a great style and is every bit as talented as her sister! bravao solange – i just wish more people had the opportunity to hear her music, but i suspect soon enough they will. cream always rises to the top!

I actually LOVE this song! I’ve liked it way before the video! T.O.N.Y is the best song on her CD. I think that most women can definitely relate to this song. The ending of the video was classic! I do agree with some folks that say her originality is much better than Beyonce’s. I’m not trying to compare them, because honestly you just cant compare the two. It would be like comparing Britney Spears to Joss Stone. They are both on two different playing fields. I just hate that she has to try so hard to convince us that she is not Beyonce. She gives great live performances, but they always seem so forced.

I actually like the song. And I believe Solange has a place in this industry. She has a good sound.
I actually like this song too. Actually, her whole album surprised me. It’s a lot better than I exspected, it’s better than Jennifer Hudson CD. It’s sad that everyone will always compare her to Beyonce, but she’s a different sound, and for that sound she’s not bad.
That shit is hot, I really love this girl. Good concept, composition, nice vocals. And Beyonce is not the stick everyone should be measured by. Ever heard of the Jacksons, DeBarge, the Jonas Brothers (haha). Talent tends to run in families, (Not always, sorry Latoya). I think if she actually gets some radio play she could really blow up.
I actually just downloaded Solange’s album from iTunes. DON’T SLEEP. She is not her sister so don’t expect club bangers and overly dramatic love songs. This is a true soul singer. Don’t think Beyonce. Think Brand New Heavies.

I LOVE it. At least she is taking risks and daring to be different. Her album is so much more matured than Beyonce’s who is supposed to be her older sister.
I was really hoping that Beyonce would grow up with her fans and BRING IT. But I am fiercely (excuse the pun) dissapointed with what I have heard so far. Maybe its the experience of having a baby and then a divorce that allowed for Solange to think carefully about her lyrics and really come with something creative, original and different.
She has won me over completely.
I think she is a better actress than singer. She can carry a tune but she’s not a singer. The song is ok though.

solange has a song out called “calender” and in song she sings about how she had sex with daniel for the first time in her life and one week later she found out that she was praganet with her son not only that she said two years later you had to go out and cheat your family” in other words they’ve bein married for two years before they got a devoice and the reason for that is because her cheated on her with a nother women… the song is deep “check it out when ever yall get a chance it’ll help yall understand the t.o.n.y video much better

I wasn’t expecting the whole pregnancy test thing – that came as a little bit of a surprise. But the fact that she’s putting her personal life on full blast like that, as controversial as single, Black, mothers go, I gotta give her some props for showing some irregular and REAL bravery. You won’t find many singers putting their personal lives up for public scrutiny like that.
On another tip, Bossip, y’all are just some hardened, hateful, muthafuckas with that crab-in-a-barrel mentality. Can’t stand to see a sistah try and make a name for herself, unless she’s Michelle Obama. Stop hating on the sistah. Real talk, her cd is growing on me. Put it up against her current contemporaries – Rihanna, Ciara, Christina Millian, even ‘Sasha Fierce’ and I think it’s a commendable effort – especially for a new artist. Take an enema and try to get rid of some of those toxins that you’ve got corroding your system inside. Try and show a little love sometime. Damn.

its wacked..plain & simple. listen at the poor quality vocals, trying to go some place she cant. she is so freakn overdramatic, it distracts away from the lyrics and the important aspect of blending the lyrics with the visual on screen. She is pitiful. She cannot sing. believe me, if she had any level of tonal quality to her voice, Matthew Knowles would have been casted her in Destiny’s Child during the period of all those members leaving the group. She is going to play out – soon and go back to having babies. i defy anyone to define her musical niche, her vocal style, her appeal to which demographic. certainly not black males 16-14. definitely not white males of any age. black females don’t like her at all. When i see her performing on tv, i just feel sorry for her, because it always looks like she is trying way too hard.
