Have you ever wondered who handles the huge, ridiculously scandalous crises for politicians, sports stars and all the headline-grabbing A-list celebs and musicians? Look no further than Washington, D.C.-based crisis communications consultant Olivia Pope played by actress Kerry Washington.
Multi-faceted visionary and creator of such wildly popular shows such as ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, Shonda Rhimes has set her latest drama in the world of Washington D.C. politics in the new show. Leading lady Kerry Washington stars as crisis management expert Olivia Pope, known as a professional “fixer” inspired by a real Black woman named Judy Smith, who is infamously known as the behind the scenes “fixer” for “Yayo and Hoes” lovin’ Mayor Marion Barry’s drug bust. Washington, leads the cast of investigators, high-powered lawyers and “movers of shakers” that includes Columbus Short, Guiilermo Diaz as well as ABC’s Lost actor Henry Ian Cusick’s return to the small screen.
Here’s a quick summary: “Pope dedicates her life to protecting and defending the public images of our nation’s elite. After leaving the White House, the power consultant opened her own firm, hoping to start a new chapter—both professionally and personally—but she can’t seem to completely cut ties with her past.”
You will never look at scandals the same way again. Scandal premieres April 5 on ABC at 10|9c p.m.
