Newt Gingrich Expected To End Campaign Next Tuesday
Well Newt lasted about a month longer than we expected him to, but he’s finally ready to face reality.
Newt Gingrich will formally suspend or end his campaign next Tuesday, senior aides to the former House speaker told FOX News Channel.
The sources said Gingrich will “more than likely” endorse Mitt Romney at that time.
The news comes a day after Romney swept Republican primaries in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York.
Gingrich said Wednesday that he expects Mitt Romney will be the GOP nominee and called on the party to unite behind the former Massachusetts governor.
Gingrich did not formally withdraw from the race but said he is now campaigning as a “citizen.”
