Anna Paquin is married and with child, but those are just a few minor biographical details… just like her bisexuality!
In a recent interview the pregnant “True Blood” star continued to discuss her relatively recent revelation that she’s into guys… and girls!
“I’m sure for some people saying they’re bisexual feels less scary than making a statement that they’re gay,” Paquin tells Zooey magazine in a new interview. “For me, it’s not really an issue because I’m someone who believes being bisexual is actually a thing. It’s not made up. It’s not a lack of decision. It’s not being greedy or numerous other ignorant things I’ve heard at this point. For a bisexual, it’s not about gender. That’s not the deciding factor for who they’re attracted to.”
Paquin famously came out in 2010, after she was already with her co-star Stephen Moyer, in a public service announcement called “Give a Damn.” In the video — which co-stars Elton John, Wanda Sykes, Cyndi Lauper and Whoopi Goldberg — Paquin declares “I’m bisexual” and denounces hate crimes. She says she does not at all regret doing the PSA, even though her confession caused a media firestorm.
“Absolutely not. I think it’s a really minor biographical detail,” she says of her sexuality. “If you’re going to talk about some cause in a way that’s meaningful, you should identify why it means something to you.”
While Paquin was willing to share this, she says that she prefers to keep most of her private life very quiet.
“I think it’s important to have things that are just for you and people that are closest to you,” she tells the magazine. “Some people share absolutely everything, but then what do you have left that’s yours? It diminishes what’s really special in your life.”
We’d think this chick would be tired of answering questions about her bisexuality, but it seems like that’s all she’s open to talking about!
