New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says 16 ounces should be more than enough.

Mayor Bloomberg To Ban Jumbo-Sized Soft Drinks In NYC

Mayor Bloomberg’s plans to prohibit the sale of sugar saturated soft drinks by businesses required to abide by Health Department regulations should come as no surprise to one of the most heavily populated cities with an adult obesity precentage of nearly 60% in a country plagued by obesity and unhealthy consumption habits.

Once the proposed new restrictions are in place, businesses who fall under Health Department regulation will only carry soft drinks in bottles or cups of 16 ounces or less.  Although New York customers still longing for that 32oz jumbo sized sugary goodness that they’re used to will still be able to find them at local supermarkets and bodegas not under the watchful eye of the Health Department, Mayor Bloomberg has high hopes that his residents will opt out and take the 16oz plunge instead.

So, Bossip readers, what’s your take on this proposed ban? Should the government be allowed to limit what we eat or drink to help us live healthier lifestyles?
