According to Livesteez, Plaxico Burress, who shot him self in the leg the other night at a club, has been charged with 2 felony counts:

New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was arraigned Monday on two felony counts of criminal possession of a handgun in the second degree after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh three days ago at a Midtown nightclub. The New York Giants star faces a mandatory sentence of 3 ½ years in state prison, with a maximum of 15 years, on each count, according to reports. He spent about five hours at the New York City Police Department’s 17th Precinct station house, likely posing for mug shots, being fingerprinted and sitting for interviews with detectives. Burress left a New York police station in handcuffs Monday after surrendering on the weapons possession charge, and police said that his teammate Antonio Pierce is being investigated over accusations that he tried to hide the gun that Burress shot himself with Friday evening, as reported by Eurweb.com. The firearm in question, a Glock semiautomatic pistol, was recovered at Burress’s home in Totowa, N.J., an official said. Burress remained seated on a bench at the back of the Manhattan courtroom while waiting to post the $100,000 bail, cash or bond, set by Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin, according to the New York Times. The judge denied a request by Burress’s lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, to allow Burress to be released for 48 hours to post that bail. She then ordered Burress to return March 31. Speaking to reporters after Burress’ arrival at the precinct, Brafman said his client would “deal with the legal process in a responsible and professional manner.”

I’m sorry but if he gets time I wouldn’t feel bad for him at all. Why are you in a club with a gun? If you felt the club would be dangerous then either don’t go to it or hire a legal bodyguard that can legally carry a weapon. You get paid 7mil a year plus bonus endorsements so I’m sure you can afford it. Sorry that he shot himself in the leg, but what if that bullet had hit someone in the club in the chest or a major artery? Then it would’ve been “I offer my condolences” Sorry laws are laws and even if the gun is registered, you have the right to bear arms within your household, not in your car or a club. Only time you take a gun out of your home is when you are a registered hunter and you must be on hunting grounds.

This brotha is not coming back to the Giants. They are through with him. Football money is not guaranteed and an arrest and conviction will have him paying back money he already got (signing bonus). Ask Mike Vick. He messed up by getting caught in NYC. Bloomberg is looking to make an example out of someone for his anti-gun campaign and Plax is the perfect poster child. He already had a press conference demanding that the D.A. hits him with the mandatory 3 1/2 years that comes with carrying an illegal loaded firearm in NY. Plaxico’s lawyer might not be able to plea this down to probation and a fine…..he may get the mandatory minimum. His career is over if he does.

Plax got one of the best defense attorneys in the NYC area but the district attorney’s hands are tied. Hes got the mayor calling press conferences demanding that the gun laws in place are enforced to the fullest. If he was just some regular cat he would have a better chance of copping a plea deal to a lesser charge and avoiding prison but Bloomberg has put this on his radar so it doesn’t look good. The whole story sounds suspect to me anyway. How the hell do you pull the trigger reaching for a gun that fell down your pants leg? That means that his safety was off and if his trigger was that hairline, he must have had one in the chamber. That is not the way you stuff a gun down your pants. Hella stupid.

Not only that in addition the Giants every year have NYPD come out and discuss with the players this very issue as NYC has some of the tightest gun laws and concealed carry in effect for the nation , automatic 3.5 bid and he has two felony charges.Heh I know they are going to bring that up at the trial as well. Your right about Bloomberg and with him just now coming back in right after his term limit battle this is going to be his key issue to harp on to make a show for the voters. How do I know, I worked in the enterntainment industry and have friends who play professional sports and so I’ve seen some very interesting & crazy a$$ things with my own eyes…

One time I was out with my man (*high profile athlete) and we had to leave a club one time ’cause a friend of ours who just got out of prison told us about a dude (*who he served time with) was over in the corner and had called the “stick up boys” to come over to the spot to rob him when he left…

These low life career criminals be doing all types of sh#t… From coming up with birdbrain schemes plotting to KIDNAP these high profile atheletes triflin’ baby mommas and precious little innocent seeds to hold them for ransom = FOR REAL, NO BULLSH#T – I ain’t making this up!!!

Remember he just signed a 5 year contract extension and got something like 13 Million up front…

Point is, when news like this hits the media (*about how much money these people get)- A LOT OF BROKE A$$ NI@@AS be plotting to get their hands on these high profile individuals money and it’s NOT JUST the groupie broads poking holes in condoms…

Yep. At the VERY least his career with the Giants is over. He’s due one million on Dec. 10 so I expect to hear of his release soon. After the conviction they will probably go after his signing bonus money. The Mike Vick case set the precedence for that. Yeah, the NYPD and the FBI give seminars to these players warning them of this exact thing so his defense is weak. Even if he had a permit to own, in NY you can only conceal if your job demands it (law enforcement and bodyguards). Other than that it is damn near impossible to get your carry permit. Yeah, I know those safeties on glocks are sensitive but damn. Think about how hard you have to grab that trigger unless you got one in the chamber. The “click clack” is a lovely sound but stuffing it down your pants afterwards is not that bright. He shot himself literally and figuratively on this one.

Especially the young ones… Instead of steppin’ up their game and/or going to nice spots that are “riff raff” & “knucklehead” free they want to “keep it real” = Well, this is another real life example of “When Keepin’ It Real Goes Wrong”…

A problem a lot of them (high profile atheletes) have is realizing that they can’t frequent some of the places and spots that they “used to”, because a lot of sh#t pops off there and/or cause of the types of folks that be in attendance… They can go, but they can’t go frequently (*be predictable) or stay too long or else drama is sure to ensue because of one reason or another = someone trying to make a name for themself or because of straight up jealousy…

These folks get their a$$es kissed sooo much and get away with stuff on the regular and so they feel as though they’re ABOVE THE LAW and that rules don’t apply to them as they do us “commoners” – i.e., regular individuals…

You know most gun ethusiasts and collectors don’t even consider the glock of having a safety because of the frailty and flawed construction of the mechanism. If you want something like a glock I would recommend a Taurus or you can go more expensive and get the H & K or Sig Sauer. But, definitely it was extremely stupid of him to carry a gun being of his status ( he could’ve just hired a body guard) or atleast know how to handle a gun. Now I remember when I was a youngin’ me and my boys would enter into the club armed since we could byp***** the line and not get checked in D.C. at that time. But, we weren’t about starting trouble; it was more about being safe than sorry because there are crazy people out there especially in a place that is as seedy as a night club. I really don’t blame him for carrying but I think he should’ve done it more professionally i.e. an inside the pants concealed holster.

Thanks for your inside of the entertainment business. I understand that people threaten stars and things. Regular people get threatened also when they get out of a club setting which is why I wear accessorized jewelry and leave my expensive jewelry, checkbook, and credit card at home. You are right for saying that stars need to learn to go to more prestigious clubs etc. I really don’t understand that if he feels threatened why not hire a bodyguard who can legally carry a gun to protect their client? In NY whether you are a star or not they will not grant you a carry permit unless you are officers or professional, background checked, bodyguards. Doesn’t he already have past charges?

Because some club owners ABSOLUTELY refuse to let those individuals (bodyguards) in even with the right paperwork… You know too much of a liability…

Some of these atheletes (*especially NFL Players) don’t get bodyguards because their egos are TOO BIG and because they think they’re tough enough to handle any problems = Those are the ones who don’t nothing about the “hood” and haven’t seen an ignorant street ni@@a with a .38 who just don’t give a f#ck and will put 2 in them like it ain’t nothing…

The smart celebrities and high profile atheletes hire un*****uming ex-special ops army mother f… = ex-navy seals, ex-special operations, etc… Who know and have all types of combat training and can break a ni@@a face faster than he can say = “My bad, my bad I was just…”

These “un*****uming” (i.e., not them huge muscle bound “I couldn’t make it into the NFL – I think I own the club” bouncer types) are the way to go…

I know there are laws and stuff but in reality it was his gun yeah he was in a public facility and decided to clean it but so what there’s a time and place for everything and that was the time.And maybe he shot his self but i honestly think in his minds eye he had no issue with the things that were taking place i think its the people around him slightly over reacting so everyone just let him be put yorself in his shoes wouldnt u do the same ting ask ur self that then p***** judgment.

That’s what I REALLY loved about Lisa and her husband on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. They were always partying – IN THEIR OWN HOME!!!

The had the bowling alley thing going on – that’s how they do their thang – you got a big ***** house, invite the homies and homettes over to the crib.

I dont’ know if y’all know the laws concerning GUNS IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK – BUT THEY ARE AS ILLEGAL AS ILLEGAL CAN GET.

Do agree that Plax should likely serve time , but disagree as far as the “Thug” aspect that term/idea is well played out in this instance. He really should have got security and been done with that. Cause you do know his teammate Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint at his house this past couple days ago around when this was happening. And you if really know whats good not everyone is going to let you go given how their mindstate is i.e. Sean Taylor and Others. This is more of a larger security issue like Slide was saying the the League and other pro sports needs to seriously address

Plaxico is a beast plain and simple , dont even like the Giants but anyone that watches football knows that is one the elite top 5 receivers in the league. His teammates have his back, I dont know what more could be asked as a teammate as they even tried to hide the piece haha.

But this article needs to be updated cause Plax is suspended and is done for the season and the playoffs at the least of his concerns. He does and will goto jail , The giants are advised by the FBI and NYPD every year about NY’s gun laws and ownership of firearms. You make a hell of alot of sense it’s always easier to go after the indiduals not the corporations, organizations and corrupt ties to the violent crimes . Just like the drug laws in NYC.Defintely a sign of intimidation and band aid fixes for political purposes.
