If Busta is a Muslim and not a 5%er, then he is among the misguided. On his remix, he repeatedly invokes the name of Allah in a truly disrespectful manner. Muslim men aren’t suppose to wear gold, drink intoxicants, treat people unjustly (think outtings for random beatdowns), brag, or use foul language. I have not even mentioned the women yet. I am not judging anyone, mere stating what the standards are for the average Muslim man. No one is perfect and it is a standard to constantly strive towards, but you don’t flaunt your shortcomings for monetary compensation (maybe that was judging…sorry). When I see Akon, Q-Tip, Mos Def, and Lupe it only reminds me how band the entertainment industry can be for your heart and faith!

SOME Africans were Muslim. SOME Africans were also Christian before Muhammad was born. Some of us retained our original religion, some took on new ones, yet some mixed and matched according to their tastes. That original religion is African Traditional Religion, while the gods vary the beliefs are pretty much homogeneous. That is the “religion which was theirs” if anything.

There are many ways of forcing a people to accept something, and the Muslims used several in Africa.. yes including violence.

The most of taken slaves were probably traditionalists, but then that’s just my guess construed from long forgotten history classes.

All that being said, I don’t see how that’s important in an INDIVIDUAL deciding for him/herself what religion to follow (or not) …unless of course the methodology of choosing is based on what “feels right”.

p.s. I grew up and lived in Ghana for 20 years, one of the places the ships picked up slaves.. in case that adds any weight to my argument lol
