yeah, i give the fact that A milli was the “essence” (sort of speak) of hip hop, but that’s my problem. Wayne’s album “C3″ was filled with hit-potential songs, but that’s just it: they are hits. a lot of his rhymes are clever, to say the least, but they have no substance to them. outside of “misunderstood” and “tie my hands”, all of his songs are jamming, but they don’t mean anything, or at least they don’t mean anything to me. Lupe, on the other side of the coin, is probably the greatest storyteller in the game right now, and has the lyrical firepower to go with it. and i would argue that lupe is UNDERrated, because it’s a lot of people that still haven’t gotten past “kick, push” thinking that it’s just a song about skateboarding. a lot of his songs have so many subliminal and valuable life messages, it’s like this man is rapping like he’s 40 years old. I don’t know if you heard “the cool” or not, but that cd is filled with straight knowledge, but in a form so rare, i don’t think it can be touched……i don’t know, but i will tell you this, i would have no problem with Wayne taking hip hop cd of the year and album of the year, because at the end of the day, it is some good music.

and what can i say about Jill….i’m mad that she won’t ever get the credit she deserves, she is a poet that can sing, and the result is beautiful. i don’t that word to describe music that often.)

unfortunately, people have become so caught up with these artists personall life, they clearly overlook the music they produce. Ne-Yo will never get the credit he deserves, you are correct to the “T”. unfortunately, you have people like Soulja Boy and Rihanna (Rih has SOME talent, but to me, not enough to win a grammy. she is clearly running the fashion game, but i’m the type that actually listens to your music, and sometimes, im not to impressed with her. but tbat’s only my opinion) benefit from that same stigma……
