Grammy Nominations Are In

And the nominees are…
The countdown to music’s biggest night has officially begun! On Wednesday the list of nominations for the 51st Grammy Awards were announced with artist Lil Wayne leading the pack of diverse artists.
Lil Wayne earned eight nominations, followed by Coldplay with seven and Jay Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West taking six.
Coldplay, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Radiohead are all up for the coveted Album of the Year.
The Grammys will air live on CBS from the Staples Center on Feb. 8, 2009.
Hmmm…this actually seems like a toss up from where we sit. Who do ya’ll think has the best chance of taking home some hardware and why?

that was a GREAT performance she put on last night and Ive seen her perform a lot, it was the song she chose…it was like a Jazz/Blues…slow kinda song. She got a lil “R&B” on it at the end but for the most part of the song she sang like a true jazz/blues musician. It was beautiful.

India meaning India Arie? That woman is so under rated; she makes great music and sings well. I am a fan of her music, it is very inspirational and soothing to listen to. Some singers don’t get the props they deserve. If I was her, I would be pissed! I can just imaging how she must have felt…if I got so many nominations, I would call everybody I know to tell them, and I would also think I would win something too… only to find out later that I didn’t win anything? That is very cold.

Christina Aguilara is blessed with some amazing pipes sometimes when I hear her sing, I get speechless, because she just sings that well. A classic Christina performance for me was at the 2007 Grammy when she gave a tribute to James Brown “This Is A Man’s World”; You can google it, you will not be disappointed. I will NEVER forget that performance, it is one of those performances that you just don’t forget. It was entertaining, and you could have felt the passion, the emotion in her voice. I honestly could not contain myself, I got my phone and I called a friend who was watching, to talk about Xtina’s performance. The woman is a great vocalist, without a doubt.
Some people are saying Alicia was robbed. she was shut out of RnB Album and RnB Song. her only nomination and for best Pop Collabo for Lesson Learned w/ John Mayer, RnB Vocal for Superwoman and Short Video for Another Way To Die with Jack White.
I wouldn’t say she was robbed, but it is a little disappointing. luckily Alicia has never been all that enthused over awards anyway so she may not care or go lol

Nah…. Kobe was robbed. Phelps only competed in seven events. Granted he performed well in those events, but it was still seven. Plus, just as soon as he won the last medal swimming was forgotten about again until the next summer olympics. LOL.

Nope…Michael competed in 18 events so that he could qualify for 8 finals, to get his record 8 gold medals. What he did was epic, that record stood for 36 years before Michael broke it…and swimming has not been forgotten; as long as Michael is around it will not be forgotten, because people fell in love with him through swimming and he is one of the most popular athlete all over the world. It is also said that swimming facilities have record turnouts of people interested in the sport because of the MP mania.
To me he is more than an athlete he is a hero who represents hope, because from a very young age he was diagnosed with ADHD; and was thought that he would never be anything in life. Kobe was not robbed!
Let us be real, Kobe did NOTHING outstanding this year compared to what MP has accomplished. Kobe even disappointed a lot of people during the NBA, I watched every game and trust, he was not at his best for the most part.

yeah, i give the fact that A milli was the “essence” (sort of speak) of hip hop, but that’s my problem. Wayne’s album “C3″ was filled with hit-potential songs, but that’s just it: they are hits. a lot of his rhymes are clever, to say the least, but they have no substance to them. outside of “misunderstood” and “tie my hands”, all of his songs are jamming, but they don’t mean anything, or at least they don’t mean anything to me. Lupe, on the other side of the coin, is probably the greatest storyteller in the game right now, and has the lyrical firepower to go with it. and i would argue that lupe is UNDERrated, because it’s a lot of people that still haven’t gotten past “kick, push” thinking that it’s just a song about skateboarding. a lot of his songs have so many subliminal and valuable life messages, it’s like this man is rapping like he’s 40 years old. I don’t know if you heard “the cool” or not, but that cd is filled with straight knowledge, but in a form so rare, i don’t think it can be touched……i don’t know, but i will tell you this, i would have no problem with Wayne taking hip hop cd of the year and album of the year, because at the end of the day, it is some good music.
and what can i say about Jill….i’m mad that she won’t ever get the credit she deserves, she is a poet that can sing, and the result is beautiful. i don’t that word to describe music that often.)

unfortunately, people have become so caught up with these artists personall life, they clearly overlook the music they produce. Ne-Yo will never get the credit he deserves, you are correct to the “T”. unfortunately, you have people like Soulja Boy and Rihanna (Rih has SOME talent, but to me, not enough to win a grammy. she is clearly running the fashion game, but i’m the type that actually listens to your music, and sometimes, im not to impressed with her. but tbat’s only my opinion) benefit from that same stigma……
