Yeezy is going to relax on the singing and vocoder bit for a while and focus on getting his gear line, Pastelle, off the ground by taking on some internships:

Kanye West is reportedly putting his music career on hold – in a bid to make a move on the fashion industry. The Stronger hitmaker – who last month said he “will go down as the voice of this generation” – is looking to diversify his portfolio by expanding his knowledge of style and clothing design by offering his free services at a fashion house – preferably Louis Vuitton or Raf Simons. “I was blown away from the planet when he told me,” Simons told the New York Times. “I know he’s very serious about this – I don’t take it as a joke – but how can I imagine him being my intern? It’s a very extreme situation.” Although Kanye, 31, is yet to confirm the reports, the star has hinted at his intention of pursuing a more focused path in the fashion world. “I want to and will be the real thing,” he previously wrote in a blog entry. “I will not just be a ‘celebrity designer.’”

Diving into world of fashion via an internship will definitely allow him to learn a lot. But, if he is looking to set any type of a trend with regard to working for free, he shouldn’t hold his breath.

I will say that unlike other ‘celebrity designers’ at least Kanye is taking time to actually learn about fashion and do the same leg work as other unknown fashion wanna be’s!! I have to respect him for that. Let’s just hope he doesn’t throw a fit when he is asked to go get coffee or something.

Good for Kanye..if he does do an internship then that just shows that he’s p*****ionate, b/c he easily doesnt have to. But he’s willing to work from the ground up to learn everything he can. Hopefully these reports are true.

I am a fan of kanye minus the ongoing tantrums. I think he’s making a good move interning with LV because he can truly consider himself a tru fashion icon if thats what he wants and we all know he dose but unlike a jennifer lopez,beyonce,puffy,jay-z,nelly….and many more he’s not just jumping in he’s doing what every one else must do to attain a the knowlege needed to create a successful line although he most certainly dose not need to he can do well on his fame alone it’s refeshing to see some one Putting in a little effort to create a line and not just stamping their name on every thing and usually rearly wearing things the “created” kodos Kanye

I HAVE TO BE TRULY HONEST HERE! Ok, I was the biggest advocator of Kanye taking on a new route as far as music innovation in concerned. Well that was before I heard 808. Let me say this now. In order to be a true innovator you have to tap into an unchartered territory. Everyone wants to give T-Pain credit for the digital (vocoder) voice module sound, but he only reintroduced and recycled what had already been used by other R&B artist in the 80’s, such as Roger Troutman, Zapp and Parliament. The vocoder sound is not new by any means, but T-Pain can be credited for re-introducing it to the newest hip-hop genre.

With that said, Lil Wayne sounds absolutely dope using the vocoder!!! Lil Wayne can’t really sing, but has the help of that sizzzurrp to get his point across in a way that makes u rewind parts of the song like back in the Erik B and Rakim days. Other rap and R&B artist are using the vocoder on a regular basis, but without any real success. Anything that is done on the vocoder now is ultimately credited to T-Pain, so how can that be innovative.
