The government reported the economy lost over a half a million jobs last month, the worse month in over 30 years:

The U.S. recession deepened last month as U.S. companies shed jobs at the fastest rate since the early 1970s, pushing the unemployment rate to its highest level in 15 years.

The figures suggest the year-old recession will approach or even exceed the 1981-1982 downturn in severity and support expectations that Federal Reserve officials will soon lower interest rates to levels not seen in a half century.

Nonfarm payrolls, which are calculated by a survey of establishments, plunged a larger-than-expected 533,000 in November, the U.S. Labor Department said Friday, the 11th-straight decline and largest since December 1974. The economy has lost more than 1.2 million jobs in the last three months alone following big revisions to September and October that showed even steeper job cuts than first

…and I hate to say this but if the auto companies dont get bailed out (although they dont deserve it the way the “CEOs” ran those companies in the ground for the last couple of decades) millions of people will be out of a job and the business surrounding car dealerships, your local mechanic shops (who will see a decline in customers) etc.

Looks like the government will be taking over the auto business…then it will really be lord help us all cause they cant seem to do anything cause they cant put that Repub/Democrat ish aside for one moment and do there job!

Them college degrees aint doing people no good these days unless your a doctor, lawyer, engineer or achitect..Im for people learning a trade or a skill anyways…Heating and Air conditioning, Carpentry, Plumbing, Construction, these jobs are almost recesssion proof….

This will be a good time for people to review or create a budget and live within their means. I can’t tell you all the people crying over homes they knew they could not afford when they bought them…sad but a good lesson to learn after all this!

Invest wisely. Try the “Sin Fund”…….if you have no morale issues about it. Take your funds and put it into tobacco companies, alchohol companies, the ***** industry, etc. They are recession proof. People that smoke and drink tend to smoke and drink more when times are tough. They shouldn’t but if you don’t mind profiting from their sins……… And the ***** / adult entertainment industry? Multi billion dollar industry and growing…….this nation is full of perverted people with all kinds of fetishes…..wide open market. Invest in the likes of these companies and you WILL see healthy returns.

White folks day of salvation…..OJ getting convicted. I guess they said we got Obama so they taking back OJ. We can’t hold too many victories at one time.

You dead on about distractions though. The media always finding some form of distraction that is irrelevant to take people’s mind off the relevant. Collectively, the American attention span is probably no longer than 30 seconds so this is an easy task (smh).

This is crazy and sad to see and hear about but we are a strong country and I think we will get through this. I’m lucky to still be able to work and do over time for the holidays but I feel for the people that won’t really have much for x-mas and just to get by day to day all we can do is pray and tyr to help out those in need as much as we can.

***** the media its bias opinionated and keeps the truth hidden or tainted .. but anyway this economy ***** is real people….i find myself now more than ever debating on what to buy with everything from new uggs new techs even ordeering out for lunch,,, i work 2 jobs im 22 in school also and the checks havent stopped coming in but i def feel it…take this time to get ur credit together cus these next two years r gonna b nutts just learn and understand we moving into a u take care of yourself

I don’t think they need to be bail out. If they people working in the auto industries are the only one to get a bail out so they can keep there jobs , who is going to but all theses cars the will produce. almost half the working nation is out of a job and have cars already that the will loss, because unemployment don’t pay enough to substain a household. And know one is hiring they are laying off. Bush is saying they are going to go under anyway. So why bail them out

This recession thing is for real y’all. I worked for a corporate office for over 14 years. Took a package thinking it would be easy to find another job. I did it in the past. Piece of cake right? WRONG. I was out of work for over 1 year. I had to use my IRA money to live off. Now I have to pay back $7000 in penalites because I’m not old enough to retire. I’m working a temp job now that busts my AZZ!! I’m tyring to hold on to this piece of ***** job cause I gotta pay the bills!
