Heroic Aurora Shooting Victim Receives Generous Donation From Former NBA Player

Jarell Brooks, the recent high school graduate who made the selfless decision to help a young mother and her two young children to safety after the woman’s fiance fled the scene in a panic during the Aurora shooting tragedy, will be receiving an unexpected but well-deserved reward for his life-saving good deed.

Former NBA bad-boy Isaiah “J.R.” Rider and his wife Vanessa recently learned of Jarell’s act of bravery and decided that they wanted to do something to show their appreciation.

Jarell, who recently graduated from high school this year and is eager to begin college in the fall, will be receiving a personal monetary gift of a generous amount from the Rider Foundation. In addition, Jarell and his story are featured in the “Future Stars” section of the webpage for “The Skyrider Foundation,” which was founded by Isaiah, his wife, and his son Isaiah IV  “to help today’s youth reach their full potential through extracurricular activities.”

A well-deserved surprise for this brave young man. We’re elated for Jarell!
