Michael Clarke Duncan Released From Intensive Care But Still Hospitalized
Michael Clarke Duncan’s condition has improved enough to be released from intensive care, but he’s still recovering at a California hospital after suffering a heart attack last month.
Three weeks after suffering a heart attack, actor Michael Clarke Duncan is finally out of intensive care, his rep revealed Monday.
Best known as the gentle giant in “The Green Mile,” Duncan is still receiving hospital care, the spokeswoman said.
“Michael Clarke Duncan suffered a myocardial infarction the morning of Friday, July 13 and was stabilized soon thereafter,” rep Joy Fehily said in a statement. “He was just moved from the Intensive Care Unit, but remains hospitalized. His family are firm believers in the power of prayer and have asked that you keep him in yours during this time.”
Duncan’s reality TV star girlfriend Omarosa Stallworth hinted at his hard-fought improvement in a Twitter post Friday.
“Everyday GOD continues to smile upon my luv Michael Clarke Duncan on his arduous road to recovery,” she tweeted.
Paramedics responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. July 13 and rushed Duncan from his house in Woodland Hills, Calif., sources told the Daily News.
Omarosa found the ailing actor and performed CPR until medics arrived, TMZ.com reported.
Fire officials wouldn’t confirm her alleged heroics but said paramedics were at the house more than 40 minutes before taking one patient to a local hospital.
Omarosa, as she’s known, gained fame as the villainous vixen of NBC’s “The Apprentice” in 2004. Donald Trump invited her back for a follow-up try on “Celebrity Apprentice,” where she sparred with Piers Morgan before getting fired.
“I’m very proud of Omarosa. She is one of my all-time favorites. She showed great poise under pressure, and I’m not surprised to hear this news,” Trump told The News shortly after reports of the medical scare and Omarosa’s swift reaction broke.
Duncan scored an Oscar nomination for “The Green Mile,” a supernatural thriller based on a Stephen King novel, and also appeared in “The Scorpion King,” ”Armageddon,” ”The Whole Nine Yards” and “Sin City.”
Stallworth, 38, has appeared on more than a dozen shows including “Fear Factor” and “Girls Behaving Badly.”
She and Duncan reportedly began dating about two years ago after meeting in the produce section of a Whole Foods grocery store.
“He is so incredibly romantic,” she gushed to OK! Magazine in 2010.
Awww they’re a sweet couple. We’re glad she was on hand to help out her honey.
Get well soon Michael!
