Team USA Basketball Teams Win Gold At The Olympics

Team USA continues to win big at the 2012 Olympics in London.

After the women’s basketball team shut down France with an 86-50 gold medal victory, the men’s team followed suit.

Whether they are on the level of the one and only Dream Team is debatable. One thing is for certain, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird never had competition quite like this at the Olympics.
But 20 years after the NBA took the stage in Barcelona, the U.S. is still on top of the basketball world after beating Spain 107-100 in the gold medal game in the final of the London Games.
Just how dominant were the Americans at the 2012 Olympics? They only trailed twice in the fourth quarter — in a group play game against Lithuania — and finished the tournament with a 7-0 record. Kevin Durant, who two months ago lost the NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Miami Heat, led the U.S. with 30 points while LeBron finished with 19 and joins Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the only players to win an NBA title and Olympic gold in the same year.

Kobe Bryant added 17 and Carmelo Anthony had eight. Pau Gasol led Spain with 24 points and former NBA point guard Juan Carlos Navarro added 21.

Congratulations to both teams on their Oylmpic Gold Medal Victories!
