I don’t understand how all these folks with all this money don’t pay cash for their houses! If nothing else, you’ll always have that when it is paid off.

Lets see here? Her mortgage is $5000 a month X 12 months=$60,000 a year plus upkeep,plus taxes if not built in the mortgage, other incidentals. She makes $100,000 a year. which is not nearly enough to maintain a home of that caliber. Therfore it was a bad move from the jump. And with her not being use to having money, it becomes even more difficult to juggle expenses on a grand scale, knowing who to pay and who to delay.
