For The Stans: Beyonce Won’t Tone It Down For Malaysia

Posted by Bossip Staff

beyonce-costume.JPG

Beyonce’s Kuala Lumpur leg of her world tour was canceled because of protests from Malaysia’s Muslim groups. Apparently her scantily clad routines do not adhere to the Malaysian Muslim dress code which doesn’t allow female performers to show any skin from the top of the chest down to the knees. It’s reported that Beyonce refused to comply with their request to cover up so the show has been canceled.

Gwen Stefani covered up for Malaysia when she performed, so this must be that inner-diva coming out of your girl Bey. It’s not that hard to go a day without using that sex sells gimmick. She needs to throw on a smock and perform for her Malaysian fans.

  1. ***** pumpa

    1st

  2. hey y'all

I would just cover up. I agree it’s not that hard to go a day.

  3. xxx

    She’s an idiot.

  4. MarieDaGuru

I don’t know how much notice she was given, but that means she’d have to get someone to design all new costumes for her AND her performers. That could be time consuming and costly. (Of course she has the dough) Nonetheless, finding cute and comfy clothes to dance in might be challenging?

  5. xxx

I guess momma Tina didn’t have enough time to design some new outfits.

  6. One minute u telling her to go take a rest the next perform she got it like that she can or not what ever she chooses. If your boss told some of u not to come to work with make up on u would be looking for another job.

  7. Bahama Mama

Hey to each their own, but i mean what is the big deal about covering up every once in a while??

  8. Babegyrl

And we care WHY……. Keep it moving… Next!!!!!

  9. My thing is what is the big deal you all know sex sells and that is how she makes her money!!

  10. Taneshia

^^^^^ I’m sure her momma could throw some ***** together real quick for her. The stuff she be wearing ain’t fly no way. She can cover up them naps w/ a lacefront but she can’t cover up for Malaysia? ***** out her w/ that.

  11. Maybe she feels her show won’t be good enough if she just sits there and sings without being scantily clad

  12. Shasta

She still has the right to express herself in whatever outfit she wants to wear. They are probably not concerned about what she is wearing when they are watching her videos.

  13. linseu

Frankly I don’t blame her…one slip up and those folks might lock her up. She is making enough dough and I’m sure she is going to use that time to unfortunately work on more music. Take a break Beyonce, take a break…

  14. lacyd

Well I guess when you don’t need the money, one performance lost wouldn’t hurt. And man does she look like a robot on crack in that one picture.

  15. anonymousone

Sorry, I am backing B on this one. I HATE double standards.

I respect the right of those who are followers of the Muslim faith to believe as they do. I disagree with their views on women. I always have and always will.

I am glad she canceled the show.

  16. Delta Diva

If they had a problem with the way she dresses; which is not new to them or anyone that watches TV or have seen her concerts on DVD knows how she dresses for her concerts; they should have never booked her in the first place.

Why do you people want her to take a break? Bey is just 26, she is in the prime of her life. She’s out making money, doing what she loves. Do you really want her to end up like Monica, Brandy, or others who took a break and now they can’t sell records.

  17. Karma

While I do agree with the folks who say “enough with the sexiness and more talent”, I have to say good for Beyonce for not complying with Malaysia’s request for her to cover up. That is a form of opression to make women covver thier bodies for what ever reason.

B is B. She flaunts her body and gyrates across the stage, but it is who she is. Why should she wear a full fit? Them Malaysian men (and women)know doggone well they like her for that.

  18. Sandy

She is letting down her fans there, unfortunately every country isn’t like america, but the people there still love her and should be able to see her, CHANCES ARE, HER FANS AREN’T ASKING HER TO COVER UP!

  19. nd1979

She doesn’t need the money away! Go be

  20. Karma

    *Cover…oops

  21. OUCH

    THATS THE POINT.

*****ONCE KNOWS THAT SHE DOESNT HAVE THAT MUCH TALENT AND ALL SHES GOOD AT IS SHAKING HER FAT AZZ.

ITS NOT A BIG DEAL ,JUST COVER UP,ITS NOT LIKE YOU HAVE 2 DO IT 4EVER.

    DUMB *****!!!

  22. Delta Diva

    @ Karma

I completely agree with your statements. If people watched the news instead of videos, they would see that women in this oppressed coutries are fighting for equals rights. They want to dress, talk, walk, and live freely without being worried that they will get stoned to death for showing too much leg…I wish Bey would use this as a tool to get some women’s rights issues out there.

  23. d c dina

why should an american star have to compromise themselves to perform in malaysia, b is is one of the world’s biggest stars, cancelling this show doesn’t count, why contribute to the oppressed state of women in that & many others countries, get informed people, you embar***** yourself on a regular basis, so sad

  24. 504okaay

I’M ONE OF THOSE FOLKS WHO NEED SOME ME TIME AWAY FROM BEYONCE MEANING SHE’S ALL OVER & I’M TIRED OF SEEING HER, HOWEVER I AGREE WITH HER NOT COMPLYING WITH THEIR WISHES. WHEN HAS ANYONE SEEN HER PERFORMING WITH CLOTHES COVERING HER WHOLE BODY FROM NECK TO ANKLES??? I CAN’T REMEMBER ONE INSTANCE SO WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE WHAT YOU (THE MUSLIM FANS) HAVE COME TO KNOW AS BEYONCE ?? HOW ARE YOU GONNA DICTATE HOW SOMEONE SHOULD DRESS FOR “HER” SHOW…..WEIRD. THAT WAS YOUR USED TO SEEING SO PAY TO GO SEE OR STAY HOME !!

  25. camcam781

STOP *****N HATING..THE BYTCH COULD WEAR WHATEVER THE ***** SHE WANT TO..IM SURE HALF OF YALL HOES DRESS LIKE PROSTITUTES UR DAMN SELF..

  26. slimgoody

I wouldn’t have changed either, they knew how she dressed before they scheduled her…she’s not Muslim or whatever they are, she doesn’t have to comply to their rules…

  27. OUCH

HA HA HA SO camcam781 ADMITTED THAT *****ONCE DRESSES LIKE A HOE.

I GUESS THAT MEANS SHE IS A HOE.

    BUT WE ALREADY KNOW THAT.

  28. Will J. Powers

Bossip you LOVE rilin’ up the Beyonce Stans don’t you?

  29. Whoa

She shouldn’t have to cover up her body. If they want her to perform then let her perform. She doesn’t have to conform to their crap. Good for her. She’s not Muslim and doesn’t subscribe to their regulations As for them if they won’t let her perform, good for them. Either way both will be fine. She’ll just perform everywhere else and they are only making their citizens suffer.

  30. bee

If I come to your house and you have certain rules in your house, if, I accept your invitation then that means I have to adhere to the rules in your house. Every country is not America. Some countries actually do have moral standards.

Is her show that dependent on her being half naked that she just can’t put on a dress and dance and sing. I don’t get that. Unless she is just tired and don’t want to go.

  31. NAIS

DC Dina ur an idiot if you think being the “biggest star” should make a nation compromise their religious ideals. i lived with 2 muslim chicks in college they covered up bcuz its what they believed not because they had to. Have any of u BEEN over seas, a lot of places remind u of America. If B was gonna perform in the 1st place, how oppressed could they be? Mayb if we all could believe in something we’d be better off. Really what has B done for u latly? How has she enhanced your life or spirit.

  32. nahnah

real artists don’t have to jump around the stage like they’re in some voodoo ceremony, and fall on their necks to sell. if she really believed in herself, she would not have canceled.

she has become too accustomed to her ways of acting a fool on stage.

  33. xxx

I read on other cite this country also restricts the type of dancing that is done on stage. It would be in Beyonce’s best interest not to perform. I would hate for Sasha to come. She might get the whole staff executed. No pun intended. If you are not sure what I mean, please see the BBC World News.

  34. nahnah

look at the pic with her in the silver dress. she looks like she’s having some paranoia attack or something. i’m not sure what this world has come to, but, umm, what type of art is that?

  35. for serious

i’m not a fan of bey in the slightest, but i will say she made the right choice. if they want her to perform, let her do it the way she is comfortable. besides, bey isn’t muslim the last I heard….

  36. AND...

i actually went and looked up the dress code it’s not chest to knee it’s neck to ankles. women can’t even wear a short sleeve shirt in that country. i don’t think it would hurt to wear that if she wants to be at the same time those people know who beyonce is and if they are so opposed to her dress why ask her to perform there? I STILL LOVE YOU BEY!!!!!!

  37. xxx

I she is so scary talented why don’t she just preform in a beautiful ball gown or some nice pant suits.

  38. xxx

I she is so scary talented why don’t she just preform in a beautiful ball gown or some nice pant suits.

Shouldn’t it be about her beautiful voice.

  39. CROOKE

HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE BEY HATERS…SO WHAT IF GWEN CHOSE TO COVER UP, THAT WAS HER CHOICE AND BEY CHOSE NOT TO DO SO. MADONNA WAS ALWAS NAKED DAMN NEAR, BUT I GUESS BOSSIP HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN HATE ON THE HOTTEST CHICK IN THE GAME LIKE IT OR NOT IT IS WHAT IT IS. WHY BOOK HER IF YOU GON ASK HER TO CHANGE HER ENTIRE SHOW….DONKEYS!!! BESIDES SHE ISNT MUSLIM AND DOESN’T HAVE TO COMPLY WITH THEIR BELIEFS. HAD THIS BEEN ANYONE ELSE *****ODY WOULD CARE…….ESPECIALLY BOSSIP!!!!! GEESH, FIND A NEW TARGET, OH MY BAD U CAN’T CUZ THE REST OF THESE CHICKS TO BUSY TRYNA GET TO WHERE SHE IS!!!!

  40. NAIS

women everywhere aren’t lookin at us American women with envy trust me! We are a very shallow nation. They only envy our opportunities, thats why u don’t see all these immigrants lookin a “hot ***** mess” they are too busy grindin (not all of them but most of them).

  41. candyrain

And she is so great! Puhleeeeze. To heck with her overrated as$. Why is she back over there? Guess she didn’t make enough money to haul to the bank on a bus. The country has values and standars. WHAT BEYONCE IS SAYING IS: I AM NOTHING WITH CLOTHES ON. I MUST SHOW MY PUS$Y TO THE GET THE CROWD SCREAMING MY NAME. Beyonce is so desperate righ now to sell more copies of Boring Day that she is willing to challenge a country’s customs for a buck! BEYONCE GET A CLUE. YOU ARE NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT that chick anymore. Sit your old as$ down!!!!!

  42. candyrain

women don’t envy WEAVE WEARING, BLONDE WEAVE OF ALL THINGS. BEYONCE WANTS TO BE LATINO SHE’S TOO EMBARR*****ED TO ADMIT SHE WANTS STRINGY BECKY HAIR. BRAZILLIAN WOMEN, CUBAN WOMEN, ARE FAR MORE BEAUTIFUL, NATURAL BEAUTIES…AMERICAN WOMEN GET COSMETIC SURGERY AND ARE FAKE.

  43. She’s probably relieved. The girl needs to rest.

  44. CROOKE

U DON’T HAVE TO LIKE HER, HELL WHO CARES IF YOU DO OR DON’T BUT LOOK AT ALL THE ENERGY YALL PUT INTO HER. IF EVERYBODY, LET EVERYONE DO THEIR OWN THANG AND QUIT HAVIN A FREAKIN OPINION THE WORLD WOULD BE SUCH A BETTER PLACE. AND AS FAR AS AMERICAN WOMEN GO I’D RATHER BE AMERICAN WITH FREEDOM THAN SOME FREAKIN SEX SLAVE IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY OR DAMN HOUSE WIFE BAREFOOT AND NAKED IN SOUTH AMERICA! BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL IN OUR OWN WAY. IF EVERYONE LOOKED THE SAME AND ACTED THE SAME WTF SENSE WOULD THAT MAKE! LET HER MAKE HER MONEY HOW SHE WANTS, LIVER HER LIFE HOW SHE WANTS WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE HER BASED UPON HER STAGE PERFORMANCE OR HAIR WEAVE…OMG REALLY IT IS AMAZING HOW A PERSON CAN’T EVEN PERFORM AS WE HAVE BEEN DOIN FOR FREAKIN CENTURIES WITHOUT PPL HAVIN SOMETHING TO SAY, BE IT BEY, RIHANNA, JAY, CHRISTINA, BRITTANY, JANET. THESE PPL ARE LIVING THEIR LIVES, I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME WE DID THE SAME. PEACE BOSSIP!!!

  45. kelis

I remember them asking a while back that she tone it down. If she didn’t want to do that, she could have shut that down a long time ago before all ^^^^ that happened. I say, if she is about her international fans, then she could have gotten it together for them. And to those who say maybe she didn’t have time to get “cute comfy” outfits together… When does this chick ever dance in something that looks comfy?

And another thing.. I am sick of Bossip always labeling posts about Beyonce “For the Stans”. If its so much for the stans, which most of us here are not, then don’t post it, or either treat it like any other post about any other star…

  46. NAIS

    ^very generalized and steroetypical

not all countries have women just being barefoot and prego hell theres women throughout America that do that and bwomen in strip clubs that subject THEMSELVES to being sex slaves for that mighty $. Some of our ghettos are like 3rd world countries. And there are other countries that have women in positions of power that America would never give women. Maybe these ppl are just interested in what she has to say- oops i mean sing (we all know her speech leaves something to be desired). Everyone doesnt want to see a seizure on stage ppl have different concepts of what entertainment is. They dished out the dough to buy the CD & Tickets- the LEAST she could do is where loose fitting pants (if Dereon makes them)

  47. NAIS

I mean seriously ppl these weren’t women who bought the CD in an alley because they are soo oppressed…I bet they were gonna sneak to the concert too right. Use your f*cking brains!

  48. greeneyezjade

simply put when i rome do what the romans do…thank you! She is a performer/entertainer and should be able to do a show in anything that she wears; they ban Ray Charles from the state of GA doing the KKK’s days and she can’t do this for an couple of hours…you are kidding me. If they start banning her music, what would she say then…hmmmmm!!!

  49. Roberto

everyone know Bey doesnt know how to keep her clothes on….but the b@#$# can sing!!!

  50. me

for those of you who support her decision and see it as a decision not to cower to what many see as a sexist and oppressive culture, I ask, what about her fans that live in that country. while it does suck that she has to change her wardrobe, she has the money and should care enough about her fans to do so. afterall, these are the same people that put money in her pockets. since she has no problem taking their money, she needs to be a professional and come through for her fans.

  51. This is an established fact. I’m not in the entertainment field at all. They arrest a lot of entertainers who are actually trying to cover up for indecency. If you’re going to be a global celebrity, you need to respect other people’s cultures and rules. I don’t think she’s being disrespectful. She’s just neglecting her Malaysian fans. If she woulda gone and performed like normal, she’d be disrespectful and then they should arrest her *****.

  52. La. Finest

All she had to do was wear a sexy catsuit and still look sexy but be covered up at the same time.

  53. GLo

    *****

  54. Sholla

Tough decision. Sure sucks for the fan but I would have cancelled too.

The hell with that «women should do this or that» sh*t. She’s an American woman and she’s used to express herself however she wants too.

I respect for not bowing down to oppressive traditions.

  55. txshawty

lol that she’ll fall down the stage and jump up and finish a show for her fans, but won’t cover up temporarily…i see both sides tho…I just found that point hilarious lol love her to death, but I needa 6 month break…

  56. malcolm

I’m glad she canceled .True artist don’t compromise. and she don’t need the money. The way they want her to cover up she would p***** the fvk out like Kelly in Africa. this girl is dancing for 2 hrs under those hot lights just imagine how hot she would be covering up for 2 hrs. plus the show wouldn’t be the same. they would have to change the wardrobe for all the dancers & musicians. for one show. dont worth it

  57. Vanessa

    Good for Beyonce

We North American women like to do what we want, not what men tell us to do. It’s called FREEDOM. Beyonce is a Christian and not a Muslim, so their rules do not apply to us.

  58. She isn’t Gwen, and Gwen isn’t her. so Shut the bluck up!~

  59. Vanessa

Beyonce is a Christian not Muslim. Good for Beyonce

We North American women like to do what we want, not what men tell us to do. It’s called FREEDOM.

  60. Chi

she is the biggest hoe ever. she’s lost her head since destinys child…am tired of all these singing hoes what happened to just selling your music talent and not your body. she needs to go away and think about her life. hoe!

  61. *****. I ain’t mad at her. I’m on Beyonce’s side with this one.

  62. xxx

I don’t think it is only about what she wears, but also they way she dances. they also have strict rules about dancing. Even covered up Beyonce is still overty sexual(and dances like an high end stripper). That she cannot or will not compromise. It is part of her brand and image.

  63. Chi

she aint no christian at all she’s lost all her values. christianity does not incourage her lifestyle . she is a lost little girl and her and jay-z is just a load of rubbish…it aint going anywhere.

  64. saywhat

^^^ umm do u know them personally. hell no so shut the ***** up cause u don’t know what u talking about. How old are some of ya’ll 10? Grown ppl know that a lot goes on behind the scenes and the media only let’s u know what they want u to know. Either way Bey is makeing money, beautiful, and successful and always will be so more power to her. Keep doing your thing Bey and ***** the haters!!

  65. DC Tap Water

I always thought if she werent a singer, that she would be a stripper..hmmmmmm!!???

  66. Oh Bey–

Gwan and do it for the fans! Damn!

Besides, it might be an “enlightening” experience!!!If she pulls it off and sounds halfway decent, then people will consider her uh.. talent?! Lol!!

Do it Bey! I sit with Jay while you’re away!

    **wink-wink***

  67. *I’ll

  68. lala

why don’t you just create a website that is all about hating Beyonece?

  69. xxx

I always thought if she werent a singer, that she would be a stripper..hmmmmmm!!???

She would be the best stripper the State of Texas has ever seen. Hahaha.

  70. Ilish

I don’t know. Not all muslim women disagree with being veiled. I don’t know everything about women in KL, but I do know that KL is not Iran or some really oppressive Muslim regime. I think Muslim women in KL are like Muslim women in Turkey, more secularist Muslim. The fact that Bey’s cd’s and music videos aren’t banned there and that she was welcomed to perform, should let you know that they’re pretty progressive, as far as “Muslim” countries go. I think that if Beyonce wants to perform there that she should respect their customs. To me, if these people are buying enough of her cd’s to warrant performing there, then she should honor her fans with a performance. She wouldn’t lose face by covering up to perform there. We in the West wouldn’t think any less of her. I bet that if the Chinese government asked her to make adjustments to her show that she would do it in a heartbeat, because the Chinese market is huge and there’s a lot of money to be made off of them, but I have a feeling, since the KL market has been open to Western commerce longer, that she’s sold more cd’s there than in China, but I guess it’s more politically correct to alter your tour for communists than for Muslims. I would be mad if I was a Malay woman and Bey didn’t come to town because she didn’t want to put on more clothes. I would think about that before I bought her next cd.

  71. Delta Diva

I wonder why some of ya’ll have so much hate for Bey. What has she done to you? Do you know her personally? If some of you would focus on your own lives instead of worrying about whether someone you don’t know, then maybe the world would be better.Stop being such a HATER get on your GRIND and maybe you wouldn’t have to talk about her so much…..these comments are crazy sometimes.

Plus I bet that most of you that hate on her- sing her songs and dance when they come on the radio…you probably have the CD too.

  72. Sheena

Bey is not the first artist to be asked to change when performign certain places. Many artists have been asked to clean up their act, whether it be clothing, or lyrics, and many adhere to it. It’s just one night, and covering from top of the chest to the knee isn’t really that bad, shoot, add just a little more fabric to the dress in that second pic and she would’ve been good to go!

  73. Uh…in my best white boy (from rare essence) voice

***** them other nighas cause I’m down for my *****aaaaaas

    ***** em ***** em!

    Lol

  74. Beyonce cover it up baby. Cuz in a few years you gonna look like your mom’s and we gonna be begging you to cover up…:)

  75. lucky

I understand artistc right. But for you fan’s and jut plain respect for another culture, damm i don’t think it would have killed her

  76. malcolm

Beyonce will be performing in china and they didn’t put any restrictions. i guess they want bee to put on the bee keeper suite

  77. Why should she change up her routine they knew what she was about before they booked her. ***** Malaysia, Do You Bey!!!!! You earned the ***** right to call the shots regarding YOUR career!!!!

  78. I'm Not a dyme cuz coins get tossed

LOL@the smock…yeah she could do it that one time. it’s not that big of a deal…

  79. U people are *****ing crazy. Now how the ***** they know about Bey. Obviously the same damn way we do. So please why should she change the very things that make them buy her music. Hey her fans happened to be Mulism, they knew that ***** would fly to begain with sense they are choosing to be [oppressed] Opps sorry believe in something.

  80. correction

sorry wouldn’t fly to begin with since

  81. kigali

    slimgoody,

“I wouldn’t have changed either, they knew how she dressed before they scheduled her…she’s not Muslim or whatever they are, she doesn’t have to comply to their rules…”

Technically she does. You know nations fall under this legal term called soveriegn. She didnt want to comply, she cancelled her show. There is really no debate is there. Would you want people coming to the US and not caring about our laws?

  82. kigali

The rhetoric on this topic is too amusing. When people come to perform, live, or trade in this country, and have to alter their behavior because of laws specific to this nation, we dont consider it bowing to anything. We consider it obeying the law.

However when it comes to non Western or more specifically Muslim countries, when people are asked to obey the law, it is considered bowing. Strange! Ok so if some Scandinavian Skin Head Punk Rock group refuses to perform in America because they happen to like burning effigies of blacks with nooses tied aroud the neck, we will consider them bowing to our laws instead of exerscing the freedom they were given in Sweden.

    Language is everything isnt it?

  83. kelis

Since she loves different cultures so much (“I’m jealous I wasn’t born Latina”)… why not embrace their culture for one night and give her fans a show?

  84. Ilish

    Cosign Kigali.

Secret, it’s called diplomacy and good business. Geez, I know who I wouldn’t take with me to any country that didn’t completely adhere to Western values. Gwen Stefani is no less of an artist for showing respect to her Malay fans by adhearing to their dress code when performing in their country. Did she have to do it? no, but the fact that she went out of her way to do it says a lot about her, and it speaks well on our behalf because Gwen like Bey represents America. I’m sure Gwen’s fans there were very appreciative of the gesture. This type of thing just perpetuates this idea of Americans as unflinching imperialists who expect to be accomodated at every turn, and if you don’t cooperate with us, well then, forget you.

When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian Pres. spoke at Columbia this week, he didn’t arrest all of the females in the audience who weren’t veiled, now did he? No, because that’s not how we do it here, but if we were in his country, we would have to be veiled because that’s the custom.

  85. “Good for Beyonce. We North American women like to do what we want, not what men tell us to do. It’s called FREEDOM. Beyonce is a Christian and not a Muslim, so their rules do not apply to us.–Vanessa”

    ————————————

No…it’s not called FREEDOM, it’s called ARROGANCE and IGNORANCE.

You’re doing what some damn man or woman is telling you to do at least five days a week IF YOU HAVE A JOB. 99.9999% of the people posting this crap about Bey not “compromising” compromise everyday when they walk up into some white person’s office/business/private home to work. In most cases, you are not wearing what you want to wear, you are wearing what your employer TELLS/WANTS you to wear. Some people even have to wear uniforms. How’s that for so-called freedom?

Islam also has rules pertaining to men’s dress. Muslim men are also required to dress in a modest manner. For example, it is improper in some Muslim countries for a man to wear shorts or any type of sleeveless shirt. In some orthodox Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, the men are covered from neck to ankle in a long flowing long sleeved robe called a galabaya. They also cover their heads with a kafia. If I visited or was working in such a country, I would respect their customs just as I would want them to respect mine.

This is just another instance of a disrespectful, arrogant, selfish, and ignorant entertainer who thinks the world always has to bend to their will and whim.

  86. yes

all they had to do was put on some jeans and a shirt or sumthin, they aint have to sew nothin up, they got plenty of dereon layin around

  87. yes

bruhmann, i agree, but u cant tell some folks nothin, as for the beyonce part we dont know what the real deal was, like i said in the last post it oculdnt have been hard to find some jeans and cute shirts to wear though

  88. Like I said earlier–

I think that Beyonce SHOULD honor their wishes by covering up and doing the performance. At the end of the day –is it going to hurt her? No! The money stays the same. The only thing I can see it doing is taking focus off her “*****ets” and forcing people to see if she can truly sing. Then again, with all the voice enhancements that performers use, we STILL won’t know.

COVER UP, young lady! Then go out there and give ‘em your best!!!

Let the world know that you can do more than wiggle your booty! Lol!!!

Oh and THANKS to everyone for the birthday shout-outs yesterday!

  89. Lili

B is one of the few performers who actually has the money to do whatever she wants to do. Good for her. If I were in her position I wouldn’t bother doing the show either.

  90. This reminds me of how Luther Vandross actually started performing. Early in Luther’s career, he always sang behind the scenes. One of the problems he had was his weight. (He was also very shy at one time in his life). Anywho– by the time he started performing live, people were already endeared to his voice. Maybe if a lot more performaers started out this way…..

  91. I do find it odd that little Ms. Bible Belt has gone the way of Jessica Simpson (minus the sex with father thing). Is it really that hard to put some clothes on?

  92. meena

    you know what?

as a CHRISTIAN,she dresses all *****in wrong!she’s not soppose to walk around lookin like a hoe and sing bout sex and materia pls tell me where’s the christianity in that??

and beyonce show some *****in respect and cover up!I’m so tired of seeing your jiggly half naked ***** anyways!

  93. nuffsaid

B just proved their point – that she can’t perform without being ***** out.

  94. Let’s say, hypothetically, that you lived in a city or state where weaves were illegal. Let’t also say that you are a huge fan of Bey and you are hyped that she is coming to perform in your city. Only thing is, she got to leave the weave at home. Bey says “*****k that, I ain’t coming if I can’t wear my premium deluxe Diana Ross lacefront”. Fan’s go out of their way to purchase her CD’s and pay outrageous sums of money for her concerts (i.e. strip shows). Whould you, as a Bey supporter, have some difficulty understanding why she could not compromise on one small point (for a few hours) to accommodate her supporters in a particular area? No entertainer should behave arrogantly because no one has to buy what they are selling.

  95. B just proved their point – that she can’t perform without being ***** out.–nuffsaid

Yeah. So sad. Once you take away the distractions of the jiggling *****ies, wiggling *****, and flashy costumes, you have to concentrate on her “singing”, which is average at best.

  96. i agree with beyonce why should she have to compromise with athors beliefe what about her what if she said on christians can be in the audiance its not rite if they know her they take her FLAWS AND ALL with or without cloths if they so high and mighty and religous why r they listing to her muzzzzzic

  97. hotgirl

This doesn’t suprise me. Beyonce already thinks she’s a mega star diva. She couldn’t be women enough to cover up for a couple hours? to give her fans what they want? She act like can’t no body tell her nothing. But it was all about her fans, which she let down..

  98. crooke

  99. jazi

Bey & her management should have taken the time to research where she was going to perform & find out their beliefs before adding them to the tour. They’re not asking her to wear a tent, just cover up some. Is she that insecure that she doesn’t think she can be sexy without showing the goods?

  100. okay

^^^^ Bey’s voice average? LMAO U must be getting her mixed up w/ Mya or somebody b/c need I remind u of her hits DIL, Listen, Emotions, Stand up for Love. Some of ya’ll Beyonce-haters are very very sick ppl. Beyonce has performed DIL and Listen live at the Grammy’s in beautiful gowns and got standing ovations even then and all her c.d’s always sells millions so that PROVES that ppl love Beyonce b/c she CAN sing and she is extremely TALENTED. SMDH @ ppl trying to use this as an exscuse for her “*****ests” making her performances when everybody else in the world who doesn’t have sick hatred towards beyonce knows that this girl can wear a beautiful gown and sing and still get a standing ovation i.e. the grammy’s.

Call me a stan or whatever but I stated facts and the fact is that bey has performed covered up and still got a standing ovation so what the hell are some of ya’ll talking about she can’t perform w/o shaking it? I’mma seriously pray for some of ya’ll b/c not liking her or her music is one thing but to state stuff that u know isn’t true or u don’t know for a fact about her is sad. Those of you who hate Beyonce that much who you’ve never met please get some help ASAP!!!

  101. “^^^^ Bey’s voice average? LMAO U must be getting her mixed up w/ Mya or somebody b/c need I remind u of her hits DIL, Listen, Emotions, Stand up for Love. ——————————-

Ok…whatever. Music, like any art form is subjective. What sounds excellent to you may only sound average to me. Who am I getting her mixed up with? Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston (before the drugs *****ked up her voice), Cece Winans, Vanessa Williams, Tamia, Rachelle Ferrell, Shanice Wilson, and Anita Baker, just to name a few.

Just because someone has an effective marketing plan and has sold millions of units, does not mean what they are selling is of high quality or even of any merit. Some people in Columbia have became billionaires by selling a lot of cocaine. I guess I should admire them for being successful international businessmen and distributing a product that millions of people love and has such worldwide appeal?

I am not a Bey “hater” as you put it. I don’t have to hate something or someone to disagree with what they stand for or how they represent themselves. Actually, I find her and other “singers/strippers” of her ilk, like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, very amusing…in a cartoonish sort of way…otherwise I wouldn’t pay them any attention at all. I’m glad that Bey was able to find a way to make some real money. The entertainment business has been a traditional avenue for ex (Jay Z) and current criminals (Michael Vick) and a limited number of people with limited intellectual capacity (Bey) and limited educational attainment (Britney Spears) to acquire a decent standard of living that is u*****tainable by working in retail.

  102. CiCi

    ^^^Co-Sign with OKAY…

Hate to use the played-out term, but you know there are still sum haters out there talkin about Beyonce’s singing is “average AT BEST”!!! LoL give me a f*ckin break…And I aint even that much of a fan of the girl (Mary J fan) but I aint dumb either.

  103. solizzay

Bruhmann ripped the words RIGHT out of my mouth, in his/her’s last 3 commments in this post. I understand Beyonce [Sasha] wants her rights to express herself full out with the sexy costumes & etc. BUT – her fans did not make the laws and it’s not like the women down their chose to cover up themselves. They have no choice. Beyonce talks about women empowerment so much, she shouldve went down there and atleast sang to her little female fans (since all of her music from her new bday is more towards the female species) that look up to her who WISH they could have the option to make these “yes & no”’s. Fact is they spend all these $$ down their she should atleast go down there. If she feels that she won’t be able to go out on stage covered up singing her uptempo songs maybe she should atleast go out their and sing ballads. But then again, Im pretty sure their are other reasons Bee isn’t going. They probably won’t let her sing about “Gettin Me Bodied; bein Me, Myself and a man being irreplaceable” without arresting her *****. They might think she’s tryin to start a revolution in Malaysia. I take that back! Beyonce don’t go. ;D (a har har)

  104. Vanessa

To all the people who said Beyonce should have covered up – WHY?

Malaysia had a right to cancel the show and Beyonce had a right not to perform. So, I believe there was mutual respect there.

You can be a Chrisitan and still dance sexy and dress sexy. Besides, people can act as holy as they want, but only God knows the true heart.

    Christian & Loving It.

    * He (God) turns our mourning into dancing! (Ps 30:11)

    * Praise His name with dancing! (Ps 149:3)

    * Praise Him with timbral and dancing! (Ps 150:4) ~ should be timbale, eh?

    * There is a time to mourn … a time to dance! (Eccles 3:4)

  105. John

Hey, Beys’ body is 90% of her show!!

  106. FOXYCLEOPATRA

    1. SHE SHOULD JUST HAVE COVERED UP.

    2. LET’S FACE FACTS, LOOK AT THE TOP STARS OF THE PAST 50 YEARS. WHEN ASKED TO TONE DOWN THEIR LYRICS OR DRESS CODE, THEY REFUSED EG MADONNA, ROLLING STONES ETC SO MAYBE BEYONCE IS IN THEIR LEAGUE (YEAH RIGHT).

    3. THEY KNEW HER DRESS SENSE BEFORE THEY BOOKED HER SO WHY BOTHER HER NOW? AS MUCH AS I DO NOT AGREE WITH HER DRESSING, I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN FREEDOMS. NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO IMPOSE THEIR VIEWS OR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ON ANYONE ELSE. THESE MUSLIMS ARE VERY FOND OF THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR. IF THEY DON’T WANT HER, DON’T BOOK HER THEN SIMPLE.

  107. Amani

Beyonce knew to back down from this one. No sense in taking any chances foreal, Malaysia is not Amercia.

  108. Lady Architect

lol Vanessa…nice quotes from the Bible but I don’t think Beyonce’s dancing could be done to Christian music…hahaha…but anyways I feel Beyonce had a choice…She couldve been thinking about how much more money would have to be put in for new outfits and knowing when to change plus the heat of the lights…I think next time she throws a world tour she has to do some research on the different rules in each country out of respect for them…you can’t just *****ume you’re an exception. So I guess she decided to just take a loss on this one, but it’s sad that her fans there can’t get to see her and she should’ve considered that and covered up. We have to respect their rules as they respect ours.

  109. Lucy

Thank you Lady Architect finally a voice of reason. Its called research people something her management did not do. I say Malaysia’s lucky not having to hear or see her no big deal.

  110. solizzay

-Quit blaming the Malaysians first of all to most of you.

*My response to Vanessa & all others who said she shouldnt have covered up. Why do people keep saying that since the Malaysians knew that she dressed sexy they shouldn’t have booked her when it was really beyonces TOUR MANAGER who did the booking. I believe its up to the TOUR MANAGER to check for the different laws within different countries and their have been artists who covered up to meet the different customs so I could see why the Malaysians wouldve thought oh shes just going to cover up. The fact is. her concerts have been sold out worldwide and it is partially her fault/her tour managers fault. Her tour manager should’ve asked all of the venues are their certain customs in this country that may affect our artists freedom of expression from the GIT GO. I love beyonce, but as a fan if I bought that ticket and knew she wouldnt comply with my government laws just to cover up I’d be upset. I hope she atleast puts out a letter of apology. It’s the same principle as when someone invited you over their house but their rules are more strict. All rules/laws are right restricting. All I’m saying is everyone should quit blaming the Malaysians and blame some of the people in bee’s camp cause i know as a fan id be HEATED.

  111. JustDaFactsMam

Gee, ugly people can be so insensitive LOL! Yall big brawd brigades stay SALTY don’t yall? Y don’t u lose a coupla dress sizes wear more make-up and get a hobby and/or man. Thanks and Ciao

  112. if you ain’t been to Malaysia, then shut your effing jealous *****. Bootleg vids everywhere & Bey’s selling – the Ayatollahs cannot change that. With all the adultries mainly by Imams in that country – they’ve got a nerve!!!

  113. solizzay

i just read what vanessa said. i shouldve just cosigned then right that long ***** essay cause we basically said the same thing. LOL

  114. @ Delta Diva……news according to who?? America pshhhhh…just cause America thinks its ok to walk around naked doesnt make it ok for other countries. Just because your “news” tells you that those women are oppressed does not mean its true. Instead of watching “news” you would rather travel or read a book or better still talk to someone who covers up or is from a country like Malaysia who can give you first hand info. So tired of people thinking the American way is the highway. You have been too propagandized!

  115. hear hear @ Kigali, Ilish and Bruhmann.

Its not Malayan wishes people….its the law. Do not get it twisted.

  116. dani

I agree with Lady Architect and Solizzay

  117. solizzay

well i just fount out on beyonceworld.net that not only will beyonce have to cover up but she wont be able to shout or jump. She’d probably get through 20 seconds of her performance and get arrested. i understand why bee canceled now. she’d have to shut sasha down and just stand there.

  118. @ okay–

I read your comments and it seems that you actually used some of my words from my comments to make me think yours were directed at me so I’ll “politely” respond—

First and foremost, I’m not a “hater” of Beyonce. Am I a 100% loyal fan that just dies when someone says something negative about her? No! Does my very existence depend on a woman who knows absolutely nothing about me or that may only care that I buy her music so that she may continue to live the lifestyle her parents craved for her for so many years? Again, no! Will I die if she performs 1/2 naked or not? Sorry to disappoint you but, no! Do I live, eat, breathe, sleep, *****, Beyonce or ANYONE else for that matter? No (oh, unless you count my children! Lol!)

My point I’m trying to make hun is—

It’s not that serious! Lol! She entertainss the world and we entertain ourselves here by commenting on how she entertains the world! That simple! At then end of the day, she’s doing her and I’m…commenting on it!

And last but certainly not least….

Oh and I do like her as an artist! With the limited amount of talent we have nowadays–she’s OK.

    Thanks for understanding.

    Now Rihanna—that’s another story! Lmao!!!!!!!!!

  119. BTW—I typed “*****ets”. You typed “*****ests” so maybe you weren’t referring to me in the 1st place!

  120. @ Bruhman

Once again, your intelligence and the way you articulate yourself is very refreshing and enlightning! It’s always a pleasure to read your comments!

  121. dani

Solizzay I wouldn’t go there to find a accurate story because that is a stan site..I would try something else lol..but all in all..it would be nice to see if beyonce can sing with out shaking booty for once..it would be different but that’s the image she sells so she has to with it…lol

  122. Roni

Half naked is what she does! She has no real talent. If she didn’t have the clothes to keep peoples attention, they would actually have to hear her “sing”.

  123. Yeah!

If they are so Muslim and so religious then why would they be checking for an American performer who dresses like her? Hhmmm. They were obviously aware of her wardrobe before the concert since they asked her to change. If she’s such an infidel . . . why would they even be listening to her music? I agree with Bey; it would be hipocritical to change her style of dress – even for one day. This woman is famous for a song about Independant women! Why would she conform to the male chauvinism under the guise of spiritual beliefs?

  124. ankie

I respect religion, but it’s common knowlege that many of these Malay muslim groups are not respecting the rights of woman. In some areas of Malaysia, woman are arrested for alleged prostitution if her hair is showing to much or if she has make-up on, beacuse that’s a trademark for prostitutes according to these muslim leaders… Sad sad sad..

Go Beyonce, I have more respect for her now.

  125. Thank you True Diva for your kind words and happy belated birthday.

  126. E

I don’t think I’d be willing to go to a Beyonce concert without all the dancing and costumes. I’d surely wouldn’t go to just HEAR Beyonce sing.

I would choose to see the following women JUST for their voice: Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, (in the 80’s), Chaka Khan (in the early years), Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, the magnificent Ella Fitzgerald, Vannessa Williams (the girl can sing her ***** off) and countless more REAL singers (oh yeah, and Nancy Wilson).

Beyonce is a performer who sings and dances and does a GREAT job at it but without the hotness she is as exciting as white bread.

I think Vanessa Williams could have the 80’s Beyonce but those pics slowed her down.

  127. “I think Vanessa Williams could have [been] the 80’s Beyonce but those pics slowed her down.”–E

    ———————————–

You bring up an interesting point. I have always thought that Vanessa Williams could have had a broader audience if she had used her sex appeal instead of toning it all the way down because of the pics incident. I am not opposed to a singer or any other entertainer using sex appeal, as long as there is more to them than their appearance. We all like to look at good looking things, whether it is people or just material objects. If you have real talent and you use your looks to attract people to that…more power to you. I think Vanessa went to an extreme in trying not to be seen as just a sex object.

By the way, I think Vanessa has one of the clearest, most articulate voices in the industry. You can always clearly hear and understand what she’s singing.

  128. If you go to YouTube and see Gwen Stefani’s performance in Malaysia, it’s kinda ridiculous to cancel the concert. You can’t really tell anything other than she’s not showing her belly. She even worse short shorts but threw some leggings in underneath. They are not telling her to wear a burqa.

  129. samira

Her whole image is based on her looks…NOT her talent. The only ones missing out is the fans. She should cover and perform…or can she perform covered?

  130. Beyonce needs to cover her crotch up a notch am so sick and tired of them putting her in the spotlight like she some dam goddess or something.shes not the only celebrity .just cause she has a little paper you guys think that makes her better than everyone else .please bossip get a life

  131. s*****ychick

O.K this rule applies to ALL female performers that perform there but I don’t blame Beyonce. It’s just messed up that her fans over there won’t get to see her perform b/c she can perform her ***** off!

  132. If I were one of her fans there who bought a ticket, I’d be mad as hell.

    http://whoseamerica.blogspot.com/

  133. say2

The stans, I mean Beyonce’s *****es are crazy!!! You hear that *****es? You guys are *****ing crazy!!! B ain’t no God, she needs to sit her ***** down and chill. She can sing, she has a nice body but she isn’t that preety and she is hyped up because she is only 1 of a handful in that Hollywood town that can sing and she dances like a strippershe don’t then who gives a *****? None of these celebs care about their fans, when they look at the fans, they see $$$$. And when the *****es look at her, they see GOD,GOD,GOD-lol DAM, pitiful sorry motherfucas!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  134. Its not about her being the biggest star……Its just you have to respect people cultures & she has lots of fans over there she could have at least done it for them im shall they would have been very grateful….how sad for her fans in malaysia to find out how much she appreciates their support!!!!!!

  135. pam

Is she the same person that sang about Nasty Girls Putting some clothes on with Destinys Child LOL… Her act is very overtly sexual. Its possible to be sexy in a less in your face manner but shes never done that and I see no way she would have found a new way to do it before the show. That said, she should have understood what counrty she was going to and the implications before accepting a gig and disappointing fans. I think if Gwen could axe the micro shorts and do the show good for her! But Gwen is more about being eclectic, high fashion and quirky so her act can survive the dress code. Beyonce might not. I think all the talk about banning jumping up and down is crap. Watch Gwens performance. Oddly enough this reminds me of when I watched Shakiras mtv unplugged. This was after the hip grinding whenever wherever days…. She was shockingly covered from head to foot in pants, a turtle neck, boots and she was as sexy as hell…. damn!

  136. Ja

According to Billboard.com, there was to be ‘no jumping or shouting’ in the audience. What kind of concert is that? Also, “female performers must show no skin from the tops of their chests to their knees.”

She had the right to not go if she chose.

According to billboard.com, “Tickets for Beyonce’s show, which was to have been held at Kuala Lumpur’s 9,000-seat Putra Stadium, had not yet gone on sale. A ministry official says Pineapple had not applied for a license to hold the concert.”

So, she did the right thing by letting them know early before tickets went on sale.

The article also says, “Many Muslim groups, including the 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students, had urged the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, which in 2005 introduced a compulsory dress code and other rules for performers, to stop the concert from being held.”

If a lot of people didn’t want her to go, I think she did the right thing by avoiding conflict within that country. While the country has the right to have it’s own rules, artists also have the right to not parti*****te if they choose not to. I don’t understand how people say she needs to go sit down, and then turn around and criticize her for NOT giving a concert.

  137. Wow, someone at Bossip really is a Beyonce hater! Damn. “Gwen Stefani did it.” Ok… so? If an artist doesn’t want to change their show to comply with social codes that he/she doesn’t even agree with, they have a right to protest.

  138. anonymous

Beyonce is off da chain covered up or not covered up!!! Is Janet covered up when she performs? NO Beyonce is not the only one some of ya’ll sound pathetic as hell. Do ya’ll wake up saying I’m gonna bash Beyonce today? She is suppose to entertain that’s her job. Personally the girl is beautiful and can sing her ***** off so no matter what she do she will be successful. Get off her ***** already!!

  139. JRiddles

This is not the US where anything goes. Yes it may be time-consuming and expensive to do over everyone outfits, but she can afford it and she should have known beforehand wha is acceptable and what is not. Doesn’t she pay someone to check up on that kinda stuff. I am not hating on her, she can sing and dance, so she should not have to sell her ***** and ***** all the time–especially when a whole country will be offended. Disappointing fans? Not good.

  140. JRiddles

Oh, and modsty is not oppression. Oppression is the Jena 6. When Reggae artists perform in certain places with anti-homo lyrics, some of them have been arrested. Also, using profane words has gotten certain artists arrested in certain places. If u r gonna be an international artist, u need to understand international customs.

  141. Slimgoody

She makes me so damn mad. Phony *****, can’t complete a full sentence to save her life! Do you ever notice when she goes to accept her awards she says the same thing all the time ” I am so bad at these acceptance speeches. Just think your fans, your mama, and god and get the hell off the stage you dumb broad!

  142. Ja

If a celebrity makes you ’so damn mad,’ you need to log off of Bossip, and seek help. Don’t let a celebrity or anybody steal your joy. It’s not that serious.

  143. Slimgoody

Not mad like that Ja. Like Im losing sleep over it. But, somethings she does is annoying as hell. This is my first time submiting a comment. I just felt i had to address that about her. OK!

  144. kb

    Ja

I agree, itss more that clothing but mostly I think people are just mad because its BEYONCE!!! Had it been anyone else like Alica Keys who turned them down, I’m Willing to bet money that most of these peoples attitude would have changed in a HEARTBEAT! But because its Beyonce, people are goin off like they good and crazy LOL!

  145. mactank

i like her!! http://www.mactanque.com full gallery video INTRO

  146. lucky

No wonder this world in such bad condition, seriously if you read some of the post (in which ever body have the right to say what the feel)We are a ignorant and arrogant society we don’t respect each other cultures.

seriously it wouldn’t have killed her to put on something to cover up her body stop making excuses for ignorance

  147. The bad grammar in your post is ignorant. Here’s some advice. The next time you criticize or label someone as ignorant, use complete sentences.

  148. Slimgoody

This just shows she don’t give a damn about her fans. If she did she would have done the show. It would not have hurted her at all. Just a *****!

  149. TopThat!

U dont kno what all the issues was. Plus maybe she feels like its about time they started gettin with the year 2007 or maybe it was time for women to stand up for them sleves and stop letting these ignorant men think they can totally tell u what to where how to dress and what to say.

Goddamn these Do this or get stoned countries. Hello its a new day!! Plus if they wee fans of Beyonce in the first place then they new what to expect when they bought tickets so why should she change. She’s a GROWN ***** WOMAN she would think at age 25 she can wear whatever she wants!!

  150. dana

uummm, where tha ***** is malaysia? LOL!!

  151. shoog

That is crazy. How hard is it to throw some jeans on and perform? I would figure it would make life easier. She along with people allwoing their children to grow up with the tv as a role model is why young girls don’t realize sexy is on the inside. Its more of an attitude than what you wear.

  152. Ro Ro

It just goes to show how ignorant she is. I understand that she has her “standards” or whatever “rights.” But that is their country and their rules and their people. If u want to spread your propoganda across the nation then the least u can do is abide by one simple rule. Put on some jeans, a long sleeve top and cover up that weave bomb and do what you are suppose to. If u want to look like a glorified hoochie and show all your splendor then perhaps you should just stay your ***** in the U.S.

I am so over Beyonce’ and her whack as clothes anyway. POOOOOOOOOOF….BE GONE.

  153. Insatiable_qt

I am with Beyonce on this one. The outfits are apart of her performance…it is apart of her. If you take that away than you are not getting the true Beyonce. The Malaysia Muslim Group obviously like her and her music and it is not right for them to dictate how she does her show…oh well…it is their loss….

  154. There were protests. I wouldn’t send my artist into that environment. If there’s people protesting your visit, why put yourself in the midst of that? Nothing was ever finalized anyway. You all are acting like the band was on stage, and she never showed up.

  155. Mississippi Girl

Well personally I think that she should have just complied to the rules. If that is their religion then you cant expect them to alter the rules for her performances. Im sure that her fans were very disappointed that she did this. I dont think that is was a big deal for her to find some cute outfits for this. She had plenty of time because we have been reading about this for months now.

  156. TWise

Well if they do not agree with the dress code of Beyonce, then they do not need to be watching her in the first place.

  157. nono

    she needs to sit down.

  158. chick

I think the matter was resolved in a proper manner. Mayalasia is a sovereign country with their own laws and standards. Beyonce has her own standards which seem to conflict with that country, so she stays her ***** at home where she can do what she likes.

  159. JHakjsd

Maybe Malasia should stop trying to enforce their rules onto the heads of people that are not Malasian. Last time i checked, beyonce wasnt malaysian. they should stop being so snooty. im glad beyonce stould up for herself.. its their loss not hers

  160. Lala

Update: Beyonce will be performing in Jakarta, Indonesia on that day now. According to MTV news, the show was canceled amid protests.

  161. Derrick

You can say what you want to say,but the bottomline is most americans have no morals. The women dress and act like prostitutes. Some of you have the nerve to call yourselves christians. When some of you close your eyes for the last time you are going to be in for a very rude awakening…believe that.

  162. Its not that hard for a day but its about more than just covering up for a day….. To cover up or to agree with there terms would be adopting their religion for a day…. Would a Muslim adopt to a Christians religion for a day to make money?????? The Answer is NO not only NO BUT HELLLLLLLL NOOOOOOO

  163. Gwen In Charlotte

Those Malaysian FANS want the real Beyoncé, but, their government won’t break their rules. I understand and agree with all sides. The government rules the country, not the fans and not the visiting performers. Therefore, the best & only solution; since Beyoncé didn’t care to perform in respect to their laws; JUST CANCEL THE DAMN SHOW– and she did! I respect that!

In Beyoncé doing that, she definitely showed that SHE “IS NOT” A ROBOT! She is known, AROUND THE WORLD, for being a super sexy performer! She also showed that she isn’t an attention hog, by not creating a media scene, by launching a fight with their government to eradicate their laws against women. She just CANCELED!

Like T.I.; when he was turned down to buy a mansion in a white community, he didn’t waste his time and energy fighting with those crackers. He just moved on with his wad of cash. Because, $green$ will work elsewhere, even where “BLACK” is discriminated against! So, Good for you Beyoncé, for quietly and peaceably looking out for yourself! ..And, good for the Malaysian Government, for standing by their own rules! I wouldn’t want The U.S. to drop our policies for one night (or “50″ nights) of entertainment either.

    RESPONSE, from Gwen In Charlotte:

You sound very stupid! Malaysia isn’t infiltrating other countries, trying to make their citizens abide by their (Malaysian) rules and laws. Malaysia is only enforcing “their own” laws within “their own” country. Anyone who comes into “their country” has to abide by “their” laws! I don’t see it as “Beyoncé standing up for herself”, because, she didn’t have to defend herself, nor was there a battle. It just seems that she and her “company” were informed of Malaysian Policies, and she (& “company”) were left with a choice, she chose to CANCEL!

I don’t see where either side actually lost! Neither gained, but it ended even. I don’t fault their government for not dropping their rules, because, IT would be disastrous for “any” country to do that. And, I don’t fault Beyoncé for opting to just not change her performance appearance & style, thus jeopardizing her career. But, I do fault the Malaysian Concert Promoters for booking her, because, they already know (or should had already known) WHO SHE IS, WHAT SHE DOES, AND HOW SHE DRESSES DURING HER SHOWS! It’s “their” country, they know their laws and rules. They shouldn’t had relied on her complying (Gwen Stefani), thus, disappointing their own people!

However, I do applaud Beyoncé for her decision, and for her quick, easy, and dignified way of handling it! At least, she didn’t allow some money-grubbing Promoters to catapult her into an embarr*****ing show-stopping “Diana Ross -RTL 2000- Debacle!

Some of you are extremly ignorant because it isn’t about Beyonce standing up for her rights it is about having respect for other countries customs and traditions. If you are going to travel outside of the good ole’ USA maybe some of you need to sign up to traveling etiquette cl*****es because most of you would be killed on the spot. Point blank just because her name is Beyonce Knowles doesn’t mean everyone has to kiss her butt to make her happy and if other celebrities can RESEPCT the culture and traditions of other countires then so can Beyonce Knowles. This generations is the “ME” generation and all you just think about is MONEY and not the having the RESPECT first and then the MONEY because me you get alot more money when you give more respect!

not only would have beyonce had to create a whole new wardrobe for herself..she would have had do have done it for most of the other dances. Also, there could be no touching of the opposite sex or interacting with the fans. So basically she would have had to change HER whole concert…making it less entertaining even though she’s an entertainer at heart. The price tag on that would have been enourmous. allfor one concert. i would have cancelled it as well.
