This is adopted son Moises De La Renta (son of Oscar), #5 on the list of Black Fashionables to invite as a party favor, or decoration:

Now that Obama has been elected, a tipster inside a PR firm tells us, clients are demanding “an increased number of African Americans added to the guest list” at their holiday parties. In the spirit of hope! The email can’t really be “verified,” but appears genuine and is just too important not to share. This firm has even assembled an official internal “Diversified Holiday Guest List,” in which they rank the top 10 acceptable black socialite attendees, in order of desirability. Uh… yes we can? Meet the fashion worlds favorite African-Americans for Obama-era parties.

Job descriptions and order of “desirability,” from the PR firm’s original list (NOT BY US): [Only 5 listed]

1) Bonnie Morrison (PR Guru)

2) Genevieve Jones (Socialite)

3) Maggie Betts (Socialite)

4) Malcolm Harris (Designer/Activist)

5) Moises De La Renta (son of Oscar)

Rachel Roy and Jason Campbell are also among the top 10.

We always knew it was cool to be black, but what do Bossipers think about skin tone being deemed as a commodity to socialites and party goers?

    Damn you Chica :( …lol

  • Redd Tony aka Earth Sign “When everybody thinks alike, nobody is really thinking”

Sheeit Black has been “fashionable” before Barack came along… Fugg outta here…. And dont know about the word “fashionable”, how about envied, duplicated, absorbed

  • Pynk

I thought it was Chris Breezy for a hot second!

  • daughtercreole

It seems as black people, some just can’t get way from the ministrel bias that is placed upon for centuries. It’s now acceptable by whites to have black at a party as an accessory. Isn’t this some f*cked up Shyt

  • Bohwe

This is an insult, and if history serves as a reality check, than this garbage is truth. And you know there will be black folks willing and able to go cut a jig for white people. An invite to a party. In other words, we invite black folks that are desirable to us, but while at the party they must do the following:

    1. Know how to dance, sing, and tell us jokes throughout the whole night.
2.Tell us how Obama being elected has erased any notion that America or the elite or racist people who keep all the resources.
3.To never come to the conclusion that you are actually apart of their elite world; only a tricket, a trend, and everything will work out fine.
    4. Never mind the indirect jabs about black people, take it and smile, possibly go along with the conversation. It’s all in jest.

When will minorities realize that we donot have to be apart of the white elite to succeed. We can develop our own just like them. I’m not impressed by this story, it’s insulting, but since all minorities kiss up to white people and tear each other down, the black folks that are invited probably feel a sense of accomplishment.SAD

  • Bohwe

Oh btw, Cuban leadership is asking Obama to end the embargos placed on Cuba. In reality, I hope he does but with stipulations. Cuba is 85% African black, yet they are of the poorest and uneducated. While the white elite which makes up a small percentage controls everything. I’d say if they want the embargos to be lifted than everyone should be able to education, government jobs, better housing. Actually, the afro-Cubans should have a revolution, because they are oppressed.

  • Aunt Viv

The whole concept of inviting certain people to parties is pretty stupid to me. So shallow.

  • Aunt Viv

That dude looks like a homeless Chris Brown.

  • BlackLADYDoctor

    Bohwe… I agree with you 110%

At one point in my life I thought it was important to attend bougeois social functions, but I found out about the dark side… Bulimia, Drug Abuse/addiction, Gold Diggers, People faking it until they make it…closeted homosexuals, lesbians, and partner swaping. I’ve heard of opportunist stealing identities of others who were more successful financially. These are all the things I witnessed and know about these so-called socialite parties. Most of them are so full of themselves perched high up on their troll bridge laughing, talking down, and plotting on other people who have less than them. I’d rather drink Riesling on my patio alone in my ugg boots before I attend any of that snotty BULLSH!T.

Now I would like to make a toast to Bohwe, for telling the TRUTH.

  • doasisaydo

I personally think this is ridiculous. If I were on “the list” I wouldn’t show. If I wasn’t good enough to get an invite on my own merit, then it ain’t sincere anyway. I hope these folks see past this bull, and throw their own damn parties. We have plenty wealthy blacks out there where we won’t have to be the sideshow.

  • SMDH aka SOY SAUCE

LOL – why are you all so shocked?? This has been the black males stylo for quite some time now.. He has no issues playing the minstrel show token black if it will get him in good with whitey.. It’s apparently coming to fruition now because of the Barack Obama win but you all know full well it’s been going on for a looooong time with the black males support..

it’s just like when tom cruise and nicole kidman, and angelina jolie and brad pitt, adopted black kids. everyone wants to get in on the newest trend. it is an insult.

So funny, I used to be a summer camp counselor for that Moises kid way back in the day. Now he’s #5 on the “It Negro” richter scale. Oh, I got stories on that kid.

  • missbrowneyes

This isn’t new at all. Genevieve Jones and Moises De La Renta are always on the list. These two have also been profiled in quite a few NY society columns as well regarding this so called “diverse pr” effort. Yuck!

  • Wenzel Dashington

we went from ashy to classy

  • d

yes, all the black socialites are the same skin tone or look like Rashida Jones…..Jack and Jill….Links…all their members look like they slept together and arranged marriages for their children. I dare someone to challenge me.

  • JK

I can believe this, however as others have stated there are some black people who feel like they have not truly made it in this world unless accepted by the white society.

  • Nikki

that’s not Oscar’s adopted son. It’s his real son. THe boy’s mother was Oscar De La Renta’s maid. i”m not kidding. read it in town and country a few years back.

  • leta

thats oscar de la renta’s adopted son.H adopted him from DR where hes from.

  • Southern Queen Dee

Makes sense. I’ve seen pics of a few of these people at alot of events recently. Most noteably Rachel Roy, Genevieve Jones, and Maggie Betts. I can’t believe these women and men would allow themselves to be the token negro at some white person’s party, though.

  • Cass

Since when is Rachel Roy black? She’s Indian and Dutch..

  • Ara

How many times have you heard some black person say, ” We’re the only black people that live in a particular neighborhood”, like they have finally arrived. It’s all in how we’ve been programed, now it’s time for us to deprogram ourselves.

  • noni

I wouldn’t be caught dead at one of those fake ass corny parties. Who has time to fake the funk all night. Some people need to learn how to be true to themselves!

  • http://jonathan inapsin

    @ Joe the Haitian
Mussolini occupied Ethiopia from 1936 – 1941. I just spent a month in Haiti ( Jacmel, LaVallee de Jacmel and Leogane )on a medical mission. I think Haiti is still paying for kicking out the french.

  • De

NO big deal. Oscar de la Renta is a Dominican and just adopted ages ago a Dominican boy. Dominicans are a mixture of people.

  • NB

He is a Dominican and grew up bougie anyway

  • Encyclopedia Brown

    He’s still black

  • Christmas Jones

Oh kaayyy, before we start claiming who’s black and whos not black, lets just calm down and let people claim their own heritage. Black people like to stamp the black postage mark on “passers” like its the kiss of death. Maybe thats why people don’t want to claim that…you make it sound like the repo man is coming!

Anyway, why is everyone so upset about this???? You know white people do this allllll the bloody time. They did it with Indians when they need Brain Drain tokens to fill in the surgical and engineering positions. They did it with Japanese girls (Gwen Stefani anyone??) and guys when the craze was all about modernist film and fashion for the 21st century…They ALWAYS do it with Latinos when a night on the town includes hitting up a cozy little salsa hotspot.

White people love to be fascinated with exotic and darker beings…its in their nature.

  • Christmas Jones

    @ Bowhe…nice post.

  • ACD

Just so everybody knows Moises is practically a socialite…he is boy equivalent of Zoe Kravitz…he doesn’t have a real job and he is always at “cool” parties and he he was doing that wayyyy before obama became president…he does hang out with tons of white people (but thats also bc there arent alot of black ppl in that enviroment)

  • HELLO!

FOR THE LAST TIME RACHEL ROY IS EAST INDIAN AND DUTCH!!!! SHE IS “NOT” BLACKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

  • Toni Montana

this has always bothered me about certain parties (not just rich or majority white parties). i’ve never been one to break bread with people who wouldn’t piss on fire to put me out. Hopefully these TOKEN BROWN PEOPLE are taking these invitations at face value and using the guest list as no more than business opportunities.

  • Les

    Everyone looks like Rashida Jones?

RJ looks white. Genevieve Jones & Maggie Betts are 2 different shades, and neither one of them look white. So I challenge you Bowhe.

I doubt all of these people are looking to be tokens. Moises DR most likely was raised with the people he hangs with. His father is a famous fashion designer. Fashion is an industry dominated by whites.

I’ve met blacks raised around whites (rich usually), and they like their friends. I wouldn’t expect them to hang around me, we come from different backgrounds. Personally, I rarely have things in common with rich blacks, so I don’t hang around them.

  • Nina Knows

Why do people think these are the “cool” parties because their are a bunch of white people. There are successful, rich, black people who throw parties as well.

People associate with whom they want to. Like their arent any rich black celeb kids running around here.. puh-lease

  • DR.FUNK

BTW-I don’t know any successful Black person who feels the need to be “legitimized” by a “White Invite”.I sure don’t.

  • Lauren

    Oh well!

  • Nina Knows

    LMAO @ Carolina_Jubilee

You are exactly right, nothing but PUPPETS.

  • http://rent-a-negro.com rent-a-negro.com

    Check it out at rent-a-negro.com

We even have special Age-of-Obama pricing for just these types of occasions!

  • badmeaninggood

@ Aunt Viv…he looks like a homeless Chris Brown? Funny…becuase his father is one of the most respected fashion designers to ever live.

    Hmmmm…

    anyways.

  • Jewish Baby

    allow me to blab:

    i’m jewish i’m not blaaaaccccckkkkkkkkkk!!!!!

  • DR.FUNK

    “”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"

I agree with you.Black Cubans still get a raw deal
in Castro’s Cuba.I also agree that the embargo should be lifted. The reason(s) it probably WON’T is:

    1) The regime would then have to create some other reason to explain why it is that they can’t deliver even basic services.(never mind prosperity)

2)U.S. policy towards Cuba is dictated by a handful of wealthy White Cubans and a mostly White Cuban Republican political elite who are hell bent
on laying claim to the business & real estate holdings they were forced to relinquish in the revolution. To lift the embargo would be to admit defeat on that front. They still think after all this time that if they just squeeze this embargo for coupla’ more years…things will go back to the “good ol’ days”.It’s been 50 YEARS.

    3) Americans have race issues.(understatement)
…but compared to Cuba we are the promised land. Black people in the Caribbean-ESPECIALLY CUBA-are just now getting around to the idea that being of African ancestry is not a bad thing. The inside joke in Miami is that Cubans are the rednecks of the Caribbean. This “White Is Right” mindset affects Afro-Cubans in peculiar ways you would NEVER see Afro-Americans behave. There’s still some consciousness-raising to done on that front.

  • EyeLurveDevon~

I think those two women are his sisters…

  • BossLady

And none of those black people on that list are important or influentual to the real issues plaguing black people today. Cool that Oscar De La Renta’s son is black though. (Coming from a fashionista’s perspective!)
