DMX Nabbed by One-Time in Florida

Our troubled uncle, DMX, has been apprehended in Florida:

A day after a $5,000 reward was offered by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office for his capture, fugitive rapper DMX (born Earl Simmons) was arrested in Florida on Tuesday (December 9) on a warrant issued by a Phoenix judge after he failed to appear in court last Friday.

Attorney Bradford Cohen told MTV News that the rapper was picked up by FBI agents on Tuesday after patient-confidentiality laws prevented Miami police from confirming whether X was at a local rehab facility. “A call went out earlier this morning in regards to his location, and the regular police went out to that location, which was a recovery clinic, but because of health care laws, the clinic wouldn’t confirm whether he was there,” Cohen said. “So the cops left, and apparently the sheriff down here didn’t like that too much, so he called in the feds.”

FBI agents then apprehended DMX at the Palm Island mansion of producer Scott Storch. According to TMZ, an unnamed woman in Georgia tipped off the Arizona sheriff’s department officials to X’s whereabouts when she heard about the $5,000 reward being offered for information leading to his arrest. Cohen said he is not sure what Storch and X’s personal relationship is, or if Storch was home at the time of the arrest. The producer had a warrant out for his arrest earlier this year, when he failed to appear in court for a child-support case, and has been working on straightening out his finances after his home was foreclosed in July.

X is being held in jail until he goes before a judge in Miami on Wednesday morning. Cohen expects that the judge will not grant bond and that DMX will be extradited to Arizona within 15 days.

DMX was due in court last week for a status hearing on his upcoming trial related to charges of drug possession, identity theft and animal cruelty. When he failed to appear, the judge in the case upped his bond to $120,000 cash, and his public defender in Arizona, Charles Kozelka, said he expects the troubled rapper to remain in jail for “a while” as he awaits trial on the charges. Cohen said he thought DMX had checked into a rehab facility around December 1, but he was unsure if the MC had been in that clinic consistently since then.

Isn’t it about time the courts gave DMX the jail time he has worked tirelessly to achieve? SMH

On another note, did Scott Storch burn X for the 5 stacks? Talk about doin’ him greasy.

I’m glad to hear he was at least trying to do something about his addiction. Ultimately that is at the root of all of his problems. Too bad the treatment was interrupted.

Seriously, though, our society needs a comprehensive system to deal with all the drug addicts. Jail is not the answer for addiction.

Every time X rolls through his hood, EVERYONE shows him love, and he does the same for them. It seemed like no one has anything bad to say about him…(I saw this on one of my hubby’s hood DVD’s, lol).

Hopefully he can clean himeself up before he’s too far too gone.

I have no sympathy for DMX: after he sounded off on so many Hip Hop stars and rappers, dissin Jay-Z and what not. If he put the same energy into getting himself together he’d stop getting locked up every week. The final straw came last summer, when, during an interview he said he didn’t know that a black man was running for Prez. What’s worse, is when the interview said the man’s name was Barack Obama, X started laughing and hollering “GTFOH! Aint no n—- named Osama/Obama runnig for president. For real?!? Obama huh? GTFOH!! GTFOH!! What an ignoramus!!

Its not DMX finding trouble, its trouble finding him! The sherriff in Maracopa county AZ is an *****hole for bringing in the feds to arrest him. He’s in rehab trying to get his ***** together. After his rehab you can do whatever legal matters that apply to this case. But abusing federal powers for petty crimes shows you how black men are targeted, especially celebrity black males.

Since when is Scott Storch’s house a “rehab”. If he was in rehab, his ***** should have been at the damn facility. DMX needs to go the prison for a long minute, so that his ***** can dry up…

It’s a damn shame. He was at Weezy’s status 10 years ago, Now its all down to this. But this is also partially X’s fault too. He should’ve stayed out of trouble and Gone to Rehab, why isn’t anyone doing something about this. They need to have him on celebrity rehab next season, or put him on intervention. Seriously if he doesnt get help, his kids will lose a father, and we’ll lose a hip hop legend. He is still my favorite rapper to this day, and better than most of these cats out now. I hope he realizes that what he is doing is not only hurting himself, it’s hurting others. Sorry to sound all sappy and stuff but it’s true.

I don’t feel sorry for him, and “no his butt was not in anyone’s rehab or clinic X was simply running from the law. But it’s the judge’s fault for constantly giving him bail, then he jumps bail and cops or feds have to look for his azz. He is a father, and that’s not even enough for him to try to do right. He needs jail time, because he deserves his punishment. Jail will keep him drug free for a long while.

how do you know he’s *****ing dudes in jail? come on, it’s one thing to say you ain’t got pity for him but it’s another thing to write stupid ***** like “wish he would die already” are you serious? DMX was a very good MC, he started taking drugs and it’s obviously *****ing him up, homeboy needs to seek help and go to rehab, he got sons that look up to him. i hope everything works out for him in the long run.
