I was just checking the blog when I saw this heated debate. So i decided to read the comments (not all of them, just the ones that were making a decent point).

I’m pro-marriage. marriage is not for everyone. i agree. but i’m tired of seeing celebs (the white ones too) pop out , or buy in Angelina Jolie’s case, babies with people they are just screwing for the time being.

true, i may not know the level of love that the couple has.

but why have a baby with someone you aren’t married to or even know that well????

That is so awkward to me. I can’t imagine having some guy’s baby who didn’t love me to the point where he wanted to marry me.

and this bull about, ‘oh, well he takes care of his kid…”, screw the kid, let’s talk about houw much we as women value ourselves.

basically, having a baby but the dude not wanting to marry you is like saying you got cut from the team because of the baby.

I don’t know much about Carmelo and LaLa (he obviously plays basketball and she’s that girl on BET/VH1/MTV.

i remember vaguely hearing that she was pregant. okay, maybe they’ll get married after she loses the baby-fat. but that didn’t happen.

and i hate to be mean (because i have nothing against LaLa) but i won’t be surprise if she doesn’t have another baby before the little boy (who is a cutie) starts pre-school.

then she’ll become a Kim Porter. a girl who had her own life, but decides to be a baby popper while the rest of the world forgets that you have a production company (or whatever you guys say LaLa does now). you’re just Carmelo’s babymama.

and if he gets some other chick knocked up, it’s all gravy because he’s still a great dad for taking care of his kid, “because there are so many black men who don’t”.

women do depreciate over time.

i would imagine if you were in a committed relationship and both parties were tested, you probably would opt to go bare. And NuevaRing doesn’t always work.

but it seems to me that when you decide to take the relationship to the next level, you would sit down and really evaluate the person you’re doing this with.

“is this someone i would want to have a child with if such occured?”

what if the guy is traditional and insists on getting married if you become pregnant? would you want to marry him?

are you ready for that risk?
