Obama’s new Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, is setting things straight right from the bat and sternly suggests foreign powers not try Obama:

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates warned Saturday that foreign powers should not try to “test” President-elect Barack Obama with a crisis in his first months in office and that Mr. Obama remained committed to the security of the Persian Gulf and American interests in the region. Mr. Gates, speaking at a conference on regional security here, said that Mr. Obama and his advisers had done more extensive planning across the government for the transition than at any time he could remember and asserted that they would therefore be prepared from day one. Mr. Gates, who is staying on as Defense secretary, has worked for seven presidents. Mr. Obama will be his eighth.

Rightfully so. We wonder if some countries think they can get over on the U.S. because a brother is in office. Do Bossipers think our main man, Obama, is going to get tested early?

Discuss it out…

First! This has never happen. Yes! Ok back to the subject. I think it is a possibility that foriegn coutries will try Obama because his a brother and because his message of hope. Obama really hasn’t shown a war monger side like Bush. I know he has an aggressive side though. He couldn’t show it during the campagne because they would have label him as the angry black man.

  • clear

yeah they will try him but a brother is the wrong one to try

  • brightseat_bully

sounds like if they do test him, they gon’ find out the hard way how them southside dudes don’t play that ish.

Get over because hes a Brother??? How ridiculous?????!!!!!!

  • RetAF

He will probably be tested, because there are doubts about how he will be supported by the Republicans and their supporters; who were leery/scared of a brother. It seems there are a lot of people who are more inclined to bring him down; just so they can say “I told you a black man could not handle the Presidency.” However, they will be in for a surprise to find that he is a strong man, who will defend this country and call out those that are trying to put wrench in the process. He has already shown that he understands what is required to bring down the extremist muslim terrorist and that is to finish what we started in Afghanistan to bring Osama and Al Qaieda/Taliban down.

FYI, another brother may join Obama’s cabinet:

WASHINGTON — Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk is a finalist to be secretary of transportation in an Obama Administration, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Kirk himself confirmed in an interview that he was under consideration and spoke from his Dallas law office Thursday evening while he said he was filling out a final vetting form for the Obama transition team.

“Yes, I am being vetted. I’ve met with the transition team,” said Kirk, the first black mayor of Dallas. “I’m honored. I got into this interesting relationship with Sen. Obama. I’m honored that my name would even be mentioned.”

Kirk, a partner at Houston-based Vinson & Elkins law firm, was an early supporter of Sen. Barack Obama for president.

It is evident that our President Elect Barack Obama has a majority of support across the world and it would be severely unintelligent for any cunning strategist to try a person of such power without first observing his method of leadership. Do I think he will be tested? Yes however I think it will first come during negotiations rather than a full on attack. Passive aggression and psychological test will e what he first encounters from even those that appear to support his rule. Then possibly in the future some unintelligent or overconfident schemer may try his power but I am confident Barack’s actions will prevail and that we will have more Allies than we need to crush our enemies into nonexistence.

Barack’s going to set things straight and I believe the entire world is ready for it to be so.

This is off the subject a bit. A friend just sent it to me and I think its amusing:

A stranger was seated next to a little black girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, “Let’s talk. I’ve heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.” The little girl, who had just opened her coloring book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, “What would you like to talk about?” “Oh, I don’t know,” said the stranger. “Since you are a Negro, do you think that So-called President Elect Barak Obama is qualified for the job?” and he smiles. “OK”, she said. ‘That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff – grass -. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?” The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence, thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.” To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to discuss President Barak Obama… when you don’t know sh*t?”

Sadly, I think Barack will be tested but I can’t help but feel a great deal of confidence in this man. I think he will meet many challenges during his presidency – some along the lines of people trying to sabotage him but I think the way he will handle them is going to make us proud. The history books is going to remember Obama – and it won’t be only because he was the nation’s first Black president.

  • Jason B. Real

It would be nice if Obama, overturned all these counterproductive foreign policies that the US consistently supports and enforces, no matter if there is a Democrat or Republican in office.

  • memchee

    Robert Gates is grandstanding.

There was no need to worn foreign powers anymore than the warning already in place.

He should have been communicating that Foreign Powers would have an ear in Washington, but would not necessarily get our backing on their policies.

  • TAMEKA NOT USHER WIFE LOL

YEAH THEY WILL TEST HIM BUT IT WILL BACK FIRED ON THERE AZZZZZZZZZ BECOUSE HE IS A BLACK MEN.

  • tmoe

All the previos presidents before him have been tested why not him. We have been at war in the middle east since George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr.

  • StopTheMadness

I do think that certain foreign countries may test President Obama (I like how that just rolls off my lips) but not because he is black, but due to the changing of the guard, so to speak. I think that they would try any president. I am not to worried though, it seems that President Obama is on top of the issues that lay before him and our country. What I do worry about is our fellow americans giving President Obama a fair chance to clean up 8 long years of bush’s mess. He is going to need alot of help and understanding from ALL OF US! Let me be one of the first to ask “President Obama, what do you need me to do?”

  • HarlemWorld

No, you should of voted for Cynthis McKninney! She tried to expose bogus 9/11 to the public via Congress.

  • Makizar

    @Monster
Although I see where you’re coming from, I think that after Bush’s legacy, it’s a little naive to think that it is mostly the president who makes the final decisions and that he cannot be strongly influenced by other parties, especially the people who are members of his Cabinet (I’m pretty convinced that Bush spent 8 years being almost clueless, Cheney making many if not most of his decisions for him). And if you’re going to base your whole campaign on “change”, you better make the biggest changes on the points that are the most sensitive to the American people (ie: the war is certainly one of them). But I also believe that part of the problem resides on the american mentality. If Obama just took out the troups of Iraq, it is guaranteed that he would get grief just like LBJ would have had he taken out the troops of Vietnam. So he kept them there. It puts Obama in a very difficult position. I think many Americans need to dissociate themselves from this mentality and admit when they’ve made a bad political decision instead of sticking to it through Hell and back. Americans are not the designated defenders of freedom, because if they were, they would’ve lead the way during the Rwandan genocide or the actual Darfur war (although I understand the issue at hand is a lot more complicated than that).
Obama was certainly the best of the candidates, but he decided to take on the toughest job right now, and we cannot support blindly just like Americans did with Bush. Look where it got us.

  • Makizar

    @Harlem World

She is an admirable woman but the Americans are not ready for someone like Cynthia McKinney. In this day and age, they would have never voted for her.

  • shabs

Sharmaine & alwaysknew- PLEASE WAKE UP!

Osama is dead. Obama is a warmonger. Don’t be mad at the messengers for speaking the truth early. It is not that we have failed for continuing to have faith in our government. It is that they have throughly deceived us and manipulated our minds to only believe what they need us to believe. Obama is gonna be the worst, and that’s real talk friends. Wake up.

He’s more of the same, but much more frightening because people blindly have faith in him. Before we wanted peace, and now we want to go back after those terrorist. We begged for Bush & Cheney to be tried for war crimes, yet listen happily while Obama describes the perfect setup for WWIII. It’s not a joke people. Just because he’s black, don’t mean it’s all good. Wake up children.
