I really can not say about up there, cause of course I don’t get no radio station up there. LOL. However, ever time I turn on the television, I don’t see no New YOrk rappers in regular rotation, except for the usual suspects which would be Jay-Z and 50. Don’t get me wrong I like Common and Kayne and people on that level but they are more so from the midwesternd region. Fat Joe not selling platinum, and just like you don’t hear the South up there or you stated they don’t sell out venues up there, the same can be said for Northern rappers. *****ody plays Jadakiss or people on that level nor would they but tickets. Like I said I agree some things that have come out have dumbed down hip-hop I never said. However, please know that dumb ***** comes from everywhere North, South, East whateva. Just at this time we the loudest and no one is checking for the dumb ***** coming elsewhere. I live in New Orleans, and I wouldn’t go to a Lil Wayne concert for free. I prefer music from TI, Common and other artist. However, I give respect where respect is due if the South was silent, hell basically hip-hop would be mute at this point. Especially if it was dependent on artist from other areas.
Kanye, eminem, Dre have all sold over a million in a week, but heres the difference, they did it worldwide and stopped selling at about 10,000,000, lil wayne/wack did those numbers in mostly the south and he’s still at only 2.7 million right now. and he cant tour outside the south.

Coming from the West Coast the rest of the world was flat outside of Los Angeles in the late 80’s/early 90s. The only groups that got ANY airplay from the NE was LL and Master P/Luke from the South. I remember watching a video of some rappers from the East and it was just a bunch of niccas in a dirty *ss tunnel lookin’ mean. Beats were golden but nothing to look at and MTV made you in the 90’s.
Im old skool though. I couldnt name a LilWayne song to save my life and *****ody out of the South has been able to bring the club alive like when that ‘uhhhgghhh..na na na na’ used to come on. The crowd would go ka-razy.

While I have to agreed that rich folks don’t suddenly go flat broke but Dame should have handled his business the right way behind the scene. There are dudes in the music industry and even the regular business world that quietly go about making their stacks.
The problem with alot of dudes in Hip-Hop is that they come out with a certain persona and alot of times it’s flash and not who they really are but because they have “branded” themselves that way from the start, they have to put on that act like they are really ballin’ and trying to keep up with other people trying to play “high post”.
Dame bought five houses for what? Now he has to give them up because they won’t sell and he didn’t have to liquid to own them outright. The rich extend themselves with credit just like the average joe does.
Dame would be better served to stop fielding questions about Jay and let him be. Take that energy and rebuilt himself an empire. If he is a talented and creative as he claims, it shouldn’t be hard. Unless, it was really all Jay from the jump and he was just a front man with a big mouth. If he really wants to learn and do something to get back, he should start hanging out with real businessmen who have made and continue to make fortunes…
And on another note, you have to pay attention to the whole Rocafella thing and how it has played itself out over the years.
Right now, Jay and Kanye are the only ones standing. Where’s Memphis Bleek? Beanie Segal? Freeway? Amil? Etc.?? While Jay has blown up, where are those cats? Not all of them had to be that bad or that fawked up not to come up with him. At least one should have broke through.
Kanye from my understanding was already in the game producing before he got down with the Roc. He used them to get himself on and then he distanced himself and is doing his own thing. Remember, when first came out, it was like who is this dude? They had the video with him getting a Roc chain and then all of a sudden he was his own man. Beans, Memphis, Amil and all of them were out there with Jay before Kanye came. Then out of nowhere basically, dude shows up and blows up. That’s why Beans and the others was dissin’ dude because he came in blew-up and distanced himself. All he needed the Roc for was a label to put his solo stuff on. He used them to get on just like Jay used the Roc to blow himself up but *****ody else.
How many of the original members of Rocafella are actually in Jay’s inner circle now? Alot of people dissed that Dehaven dude when he came out with his little YouTube videos talking about he was going to expose Jay. There was some truth into what he was saying about Jay. Not much but some.

Southern hip hop is on some straight up minstrel *****. As a NYer living in Florida, I have to admit that it does fit the landscape. Mainstream Southern black male culture basically boils down to football, pimpin, strip clubs, big booty hoes, rims, and hyper macho posturing. There is clearly a concerted effort to out-ignorant each other and be the most country. Being country is the Southern form of street cred. Its a real shame considering the civil rights movement started here, most of the historical Black colleges are here. The older folks here have so much cl***** and dignity here that it must kill them to see that fruits of standing up to hoses, dogs, crooked cops and the Klan are…T-Pain and Lil Wayne worshipping, gold teeth rockin, dimwits. And I’m talking about the ones who went to college.

And for such a high profile union with Beyonce, you hear nothing negative spill out of that camp. Jay has become a Dame in his own right. A straight up mogul. Dame seems to be shrinking financially and in influence. If Dame was truly the brains of the Roc, then he should be able to find another stud. After all, Jigga did find Rihanna…..
