people sue for large amounts of money becuase these ambulance chaser bottom of their class attorney’s convince them that they can get this amount of money, or at least settle for a lesser amount. If Brandy is smart she should have a big insurance policy to protect her assets,most people with a considerable amount of money have umbrealla policys that offer millions of dollars in coverage for situations like this, any basic financial advisor should know this.

Isn’t it a little suspicious that the second claimant filed his claim right about the time that Brandy’s cd was released. Don’t get me wrong, it is a little disheartening to see the way that celebrities are held to a different legal standard from the general public – but that has alot more to do with the law (and the value of a good attorney) rather than anything else.

Either way, I feel that $50 million is really excessive, and I have no doubt that Brandy might have $50M (she’s been in the game how long, and a million dollars ain’t what it used to be). I do hope that justice is served, but I also hope that they allow Brandy to move on. Her last cd details the struggles that she’s been through, and it appears as though the plaintiff’s are trying to push her back to her painful past.

When the report came back, it was concluded that Brandy was NOT AT FAULT!!! that’s why no charges were pressed against her. These people are looking for a big pay day…They need to stop.

I thought Brandy was found not at fault as well. If a person is guity they should pay. I don’t understand how a person could be found not at fault for the crime but could still be sued in civil court. This is a great justice system we have here. No charges over Brandy car crash

R&B star Brandy will not face charges over her role in a fatal car accident in California last January.
Police in Los Angeles said there was “insufficient evidence” for a jury to find the 28-year-old actress-singer guilty of vehicular manslaughter.

In January, the California Highway Patrol recommended the vehicular manslaughter charge, which carries a maximum of one year in jail and a fine of $1,000 (£500).

But after investigating the crash with “some of the top accident reconstruction experts in the country”, prosecutors decided there was not enough evidence for a jury to find the R&B star guilty, said Los Angeles City Attorney’s spokesman, Frank Mateljan.

Investigators ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash and say there was no evidence that Brandy, who was alone in her car, was using a phone.

A lawyer for Brandy said she was “extremely pleased” that she would not be charged.

It was an unfortunuate accident. Sometimes you can’t avoid an accident. It is unfortunate that someone died but Brandi did not do it on purpose. She was not intoxicated, on a cell phone, or high.

If the same accident occured with a non celeb, they would have settled with the insurance company. They are looking to get rich.

Brandy was not at fault for that woman’s death. The woman had already crashed before Brandy’s car had contact with hers.

Your right you can’t put a price on a life, but you can’t just ask people to pay up when it was not their fault. That’s the whole thing…Maybe the lady should have been paying attention as well.

You are absolutely correct about the reason why Brandy was not convicted. This guy is looking for a pay-off because now his income will pay for the children. He was already legally seperated from his wife for one and his wife was determined to be dead on impacted with the divider. Brandy did not kill that woman and CSI have already confirmed that. Didn’t Brandy even offer to pay for the funeral? He won’t get any money.

Unfortunately in the state in which it happened, it is not against the law, to use a hand held phone while driving.
Like in other states, so BRANDY could not be charged in a crime.
Now, If it were had been NEW YORK, were it is against the law to use
a hand held while driving, she would have faced criminal charges.
I am close to celebrities, everyday of my life. so trust me, the circles are small.

If the police did not find her guilty of a crime then I side with Brandy. I have had a couple of accidents and fortunately nobody died but it was just something that you can not avoid. Brandi didn’t do it intentionally nor was she under the influence.

These people are taking advantage that Brandi is a celeb. I hope they don’t get a penny from Brandi. They should of settled with the insurance company. People die in car accidents all the time. It does not mean the person at fault has to fork over their entire bank account and wordly possesions. If brandi was drunk then I would say take everything she owns but that was not the case. I think they are doin’ this because she’s a celebrity. I mean its a tragic but if it was any normal person they wouldn’t try n sue. and the lady that died she the one had marijuana in her system not Brandy. It was just a tragic on both ends.

How can you make comments on something you know nothing about? Before making comments on her guilt, know the facts! The dead women slammed on brakes and hit the car in front of her. This caused Brandy to run into her. There was also traces of weed in the dead woman’s system. Eveyone wants to sue Brandy because she’s the only one with a little money. These greedy bastards(including the estranged husband)see this as a payday. It is sad that a life was lost but it was an accident.
