Keyla Snowden is a former standout basketball player at the University of Kentucky and an aspiring entertainment personality. She graduated from UK with a degree in communications and a minor in telecommunications and then earned a second degree in media arts and studies. In addition to being a highly-decorated student-athlete, Keyla served as an on-air personality on the weekly Matthew Mitchell Show during her final two seasons at Kentucky.

A native of Lexington, KY, Keyla was an All-State guard at Lexington Catholic High School where she won two Kentucky State Championships and was named Sweet Sixteen MVP in 2006. She led Lexington Catholic to a 130-14 record over her four-year career and three consecutive state title game appearances. For her career, she totaled 1,908 career points while setting state records for single-season free throw percentage (91.0% as a senior) and career free throw percentage (84.7%).

Following her prep career, Keyla earned a scholarship to the University of Akron where she was named to the MAC All-Freshman team and broke the school record for most 3-pointers in a season with 91. Following her freshman season, she transferred to the University of Kentucky. After sitting out a season due to transfer rules, she was an integral piece in UK’s run to the Elite Eight of the 2010 NCAA Tournament. She saw action in all 36 games of her sophomore season but earned a starting assignment late in the year and started in the Wildcats’ final nine games of the season.

As a junior, she started in 18 games including the last seven of the season. She played her best in Kentucky’s biggest games, which included five 3-pointers and 17 points in a win over No. 12 Notre Dame and a team-high 15 points against No. 3 Duke. She was named SEC Player of the Week on Dec. 27, 2010 after scoring a career-high 28 points in only 19 minutes against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

During her senior season, Keyla was third on the team in scoring as Kentucky spent most of the year ranked among the nation’s Top-10. She led UK to the school’s first SEC Championship in three decades and another Elite Eight appearance in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Her honors included being named the SEC Co-6th Women of the Year, SEC All-Tournament Team recognition, and receiving the Ms. Wildcat title for all of UK Athletics for the 2011-12 school year.
