There are conflicting stories about the talk of Eddie Murphy playing the Riddler in Batman:
Comic book fanboys across the globe are all atwitter after fresh reports that Eddie Murphy will play the Riddler in the next “Batman” movie. The Sun reported today that Christopher Nolan has tapped Murphy for the role in the follow-up film to “The Dark Knight,” which is rumored to be titled “Gotham.” The unconfirmed rumor contradicts earlier whispers that Johnny Depp would reinvent the role in the new film, which is slated to hit theaters in 2010. Jim Carrey played the part in 1995′s “Batman Forever.” The Sun also says that “Transformers” star Shia LeBeouf has been tapped to play Robin, and Rachel Weisz will portray Catwoman.
Then reports today say this…
A rep for Eddie Murphy is denying reports generated by Britain’s Telegraph newspaper that the actor has been cast as The Riddler in the next Batman movie. The tabloid also falsely claimed that Shia LaBeouf will play Robin, Rachel Weisz is up for the Catwoman role and that the movie “will end on a cliffhanger over whether Batman survives a blast at Wayne Towers.” Other rumors have had Angelina Jolie as Catwoman, Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin in the next Batman film. But all of those reports are false, as casting has yet to even take place.
Eddie as the Riddler is a different move. But, we wouldn’t mind seeing Eddie the transgender bender play that role. What do Bossipers think?
