I love myself and my race but sometimes I feel so weary and embarrassed to be a young black man with all of these ignorant mofo’s making the headlines for their stupid, crazy behavior. Why don’t they just die out and do the rest of us a favor.

I feel ya, Craig. However, we should not allow our solidarity with our brothas and sistas to lead us to ignore the fact that we have the same type of diversity within our communities as other groups. Hence we ought not to allow a particular societal standard to cause us distance ourselves too far from our own.

I think we expect more out of our people because of our history of oppression, but at the same time we have to recognize that we are not homogenous and young people make mistakes. Whites, Hispanics, and other groups have the same problems; however they are not viewed as representing their whole race the way African Americans are viewed.

I assume also that you’re probably venting and already know what I’m saying, but I just had to vent from my own standpoint. Keep on keeping on, so that we have a diversity of examples out front.

I can understadn what you are saying however, you can’t tell people the truth and expect them to believe it.

I’m in the school system and there are kids that think thisis cool to do. Get locked up and be all hard. I recently lost a student (this past Thursday) to this lifestyle. He was set to go to college and be a cook. Instead he got a gun and with 2 friends tried to rob a police officer, who laided him out with an AK47 (11 rounds worth). He’s dead as is another guy adn the third is locked up.

We as adults can’t teach our child right from wrong when we glorify the wrong. Weezy knows what he did is wrong and he needs to be working on his college degree and not getting arrested.

We have to stop supporting the Vicks, Pacmans, R. Kellys, Superheads and other boneheads that continue to stereotype us. Because we have too many “parents” letting them raise their children. We can’t keep yelling racism all the time. Who is that helping? We know its real but not everything is race related.

I love me some New Orleans n-ggas! They got their own f-ckin unique look – Master P, Lil Wayne, Lloyd. They don’t make em like they do in NOLA goddamnit!
