According to Livesteez, this young man, Billey Joe Johnson, allegedly committed suicide while being pulled over for a routine stop:

Less than one week after the tragic death of George County, Mississippi football star, Billey Joe Johnson, the family has hired Jerome Carter of The Cochran Firm in Mobile, Alabama to represent them. Billey Joe Johnson, 17, died early Monday morning, Dec. 8, after what authorities say was a routine traffic stop. A George County sheriff’s deputy pulled Johnson over after he reportedly ran a stop sign and a red light. While checking the license information, the deputy said he heard a gunshot and then saw Johnson on the ground by the driver’s door of the vehicle the youth had been driving. The shotgun was found lying on Johnson’s chest. Billey Joe was known as one of the state’s most gifted athletes. He had received scholarship offers from many universities, including Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Oregon. “There has been so much speculation in the community surrounding the circumstances of the death of one of the most respected high school athletic stars in the area,” says Jerome Carter, with The Cochran Firm Mobile. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has been called because a deputy was present at the scene of the incident. They are looking into the possibility that Johnson may have died from a self-inflicted, gunshot wound.

“The family cannot understand why their son would take his own life with such a bright future ahead of him,” continued Carter. “They are looking for answers.”

This story f*cking stinks just like a classic deep south cover up.  Everyone knows how shady One-Time can be, so what do Bossipers think???

D@MN thats messed up! But just becasue he had a bright future doesn’t mean he was happy. But I don’t trust cops either. Hopefully the truth comes to light!

This is truly heartbreaking. I feel for this young mans family. A young man that is obviously on the right track who loses his life. Makes NO sense!!!

Makes no sense at all. I thought police cars had video cameras that recorded any traffic stops or any time an officer pulled someone over. So my question is Where is the tape.

I DON’T BELIEVE YOU, YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE! I DEFINATELY HOPE HIS FAMILY WON’T LET THIS SITUATION DIE DOWN AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THIS WAS A SUICIDE WHEREAS IT COULD POSSIBLY BE MURDER. I PRAY THIS IS PROPERLY INVESTIGATED AND HAVE PEACE FOR THIS FAMILY.

I trust that an thorough investigation will uncover the truth. As unlikely as it seems, he may have been distraught causing him to run the red light and stop sign. Of course, there should be gun powder on his hand. It would be too obvious had the police shot him and the coverup story unlikely. Regardless, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

    Purpple:

Even though he had a promising future (which was good), doesnt mean he was happy internally. Like the saying…”money cant buy happiness”.

And neither can any worldly thing or things.

I hope, for his family’s sake, that they find out why he would do this. It may be hard if he’s never talked to anyone about any unsettling issues within himself. Ugh! I couldnt stand not knowing if that were my son…..

My heart goes out to them.

  • Naija Gal

Blessings to him and his family in JESUS’S name…Amen.

I’m from MS and I don’t believe it was a suicide. Once you start looking at the county where this happened, and the situation around it – you know what it is – A MURDER.

I hope they find the person that did this, and my prayers go to his loved ones.

  • blaq

They murdered that beautiful young man, and covered it up. I just want to know if he was dating the daughter of a white sheriff? Just a thought

  • Ohhhkaaaay

Something isn’t right with this story. I pray that justice prevails. God bless his family.

  • Raquel26

    So…wait a minute.

My mind is thinking out loud…..

    1) He was obviously on his way to commit this “suicide” if he sped through a red light and a stop sign. He already had a gun in his possession.

    2) Forensics would be able to tell if it was a murder or suicide.

    3) Check the cops gun and bullets as well.

I just dont trust cops in the South. Where a black man can still get killed for looking at a white chick. And we all know how much white girls like black athletes.

  • Queen Z

God bless his family. I pray that the truth is revealed soon for the sake of his family……..One time is so shady!!! When will they stop?

  • JUJU

@elusive I AM TOTALLY AGREEING WITH YOU, IT JUST DOESN’T SOUND SIGNIFICANT. YEAH ALTHOUGH HE MAY APPEAR TO BE HAPPY AND PROBABLY WAS NOT BUT THIS SORT OF STORY COMING OUT OF MS, JUST DOESN’T SIT PROPER WITH ME.

  • Raquel26

*moving finger from my eyes to your eyes*

    @BLAQ:

We’re on the same page. I feel that too.

  • MsMonroe

I just wanted to say that Billy was a friend of my brothers and it is very sad that here in the south people are still blinded by race….it wont change and he surely did not deserve to die over who he was dating…..

I’m black and I’m from Arkansas and these things happen and are routinely covered up, but the system we have is the only one we have so we have to rely on it and hope its works. It may have went down the way its stated and who’s to say the cop wasnt black. Let’s just pray for the fam and hope for the best although its a sad situation.
