The one stat that stood out was that 74% of all African-American females 19 under are sexually active it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that 9,10,11,12 year old Black girls are included in that 74%. Black women are 4 times more likely to get an abortion as women and in some parts of this country over 80% of the kids born to Sistas are born out of wedlock & in some Southern states Black women make up the majority of Syphillis cases.

I am a White female who is engaged to a Black male-good-looking, educated and loving. I just don’t understand a lot of Black female’s attitudes about our relationship.
My man decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were slim to none. As he said they were either too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage.
Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why don’t they look at themselves and make some changes.
I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we’re out in public. I would like to hear from some Black men about why we are so appealing and coveted by them.

I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White Girl.
Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta , Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful black men.
I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to set the record straight of why black men date white women. Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated white women was because they were considered easy.
The black girls in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls.
Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have become intimidated by the strength of our black women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses. Because of this fear, many black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control.
I have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on how easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want to set the record straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl to know that not all successful black men date white women.
Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of the spot light, who openly or secretly desire black women over white women. Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie to name a few.
I just don’t want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed Stop thinking that because you are white that you are some type of goddess. Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meat and beating each other over the head with clubs. Read your history!
It was the black woman that taught you how to cook and season your food. It was the black woman that taught you how to raise your children. It was black women who were breast feeding and raising your babies during slavery.
It is the black woman that had to endure watching their fathers, husbands, and children beaten, killed, and thrown in jail. Black women were born with two strikes against them: being black and being a woman. And, through all this, Still They Rise!
It is because of the black women’s strength, elegance, power, love and beauty that I could> never> date anyone except my black Queen. It is not just the outer beauty that captivates and draws me to them. It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and shades that I love them.
Their inner beauty is what I find most appealing about black women. Their strong spirit, loving and nurturing souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome great obstacles, their willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduring great pain and suffering is why I have fallen in love with black women.
I honestly believe that your anger is geared more toward jealousy and envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why do you continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If you are so proud to be white, then why don’t you just be happy with your pale skin? Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and breasts with unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look fuller and more voluptuous?
I think that your anger is really a result of you wanting to have what the black woman has.
BOTTOM LINE: If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately, I am looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be a good wife and mother to my children.
Someone who can be my best friend and understands my struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am looking for a sister and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit the bill.

Although, I think you should drop some, like Rosario Dawson and Traci Bingham, from the list because they do not identify as black. The truth of the matter is that most black women do not find white men even remotely attractive, whether it’s sexually, physically, or culturally.
Another thing you have to realize is that celebrity relationships are often for publicity or career advancement. One of the sisters on your list, Lena Horne, flat out said that she would have preferred to marry a black man but a white man could get her into performance venues that a black man couldn’t.

I personally think that whites in general are scared off by so much black infighting. They don’t want to be a part of it. We must remember that as human beings there is not much difference in how men and women of any color acts. The fact that so many couples on your list are not together anymore proves that point. Being proud of our heritage does not mean we base who we are by how many colors we date. It by the quality of our choices.

If anything, that list was posted to counter Sue’s remark about what type of white men would be attracted to black women . I was wondering why people were initially agreeing with her. I don’t know about that. I don’t think black men aren’t anymore likely to date interracially than white men. Though I am not certain (I haven’t done this type of research) but I think white men have the highest rate of interracial marriage. I also think that the numbers of WM/BF couples/marriages are skewered for a lot of reasons that range from everything to the media’s portrayal of black women to black women often being socialized to date intra-racially for the sake of the “black community.”

Race often plays a role in the perception of people (Surprise, Surprise). All you have to do is read some of these threads and the stereotypes attached to black women in particular in relation to white/non-black women. Race is often a status marker. So to suggest that race plays no role in deciding whom to date or marry is naive.

Actually black men date and marry interracial more than twice of white men. Only 3% of white men are in IR relationships compared to 10% of black. White and black women come in at 6%. White men are least likely to be in IRs. The most common reason has been numbers. There are 200 million whites in America, only 40 million blacks. The average white man simply does not have any reason to date or marry outside his race because there are so many white women. In fact it has been shown that among any group (except asian women) IRs go up in communities where the minorities are way underrepresented. Where blacks are in high numbers black men will almost always chose black women over any other.
White infighting is centered usually around politics and class. Its effects have been growing apathy among voters and class distain. I will agree with you that whites do infight and that it has its negative effects. Our’s almost always seems race based and because it is constantly with us (unlike politics and status) we are instantly isolated by it.
As for race being a decider. While I’m married to a black woman, we both have almost exclusively dated white because of limited past contacts with blacks. We lived in no man’s lands for years before meeting each other. Whites (women in pariticular) feel little threat from black women. I don’t think it’s pollanyish to discard race. I do think people with self esteem issues seek affirmation, and see being desired by a person of another race as part of that affirmation. “If a white person thinks I’m attractive then I must be.” I think that’s the kind of logic we see in the threads here.

I know things can be confusing. But one reason I picked this article as a representation is that it answers most of the questions you bring up. 1) while it does list marriages, it also list cohabitation, which is more likely to occur in the black community. In that black men are again the higher than whites. 2) stats can be confusing because they are a percentage of a number. for example For example 75% of mixed asian marriages may be with white men but there are far fewer asians (14 million) in America compared to blacks (40million) so a higher percent of a lower number may bring in fewer overall couplings when compared to other groups. 3) the article plainly states that while census numbers are based on actually numbers from 54 million couples, numbers from other suverys may be based on far fewer people and thus have a higher margin of error.
Another point you should note is that the rate for IR marriage with black women has been high but so has the divorce rate. In fact black women/white men have the highest rate of divorce. So gains are nulled by loss.
Very few surveys count dating. Since people are much more likely to date than to commit. That is the problem with keeping up with celeb couples. They rarely stay together.
