Nelly is sick and tired of Thickums mom pimpin’ her out:
Nelly is ready to propose to his girlfriend of five years, Ashanti. But there’s just one problem: He can’t stand her mother, Tina Douglas! “Tina sticks her nose in everything because she’s also Ashanti’s manager,” a source tells Star. “She’s always pushing Ashanti to make more money, to always look great. It stresses her out, and Nelly doesn’t like that.”
The rapper, 34, has tried to encourage Ashanti, 28, to become more independent, but “Tina has such a strong personality that she’s kind of afraid of her.” Still, if the singer doesn’t put her mom in her place soon, she won’t be getting that rock she’s been hoping for. “Before he makes her his wife,” adds the source, “Nelly wants to know that Ashanti can make decisions on her own.”
Gotta love them stage moms using their kids like Class A gravy trains & sh*t. Lol at Ashanti being scared of her mom too. How sad. But seriously, we don’t blame Nelly for holding out until Ms. Thicky-kins learns to keep Tina in check – in-law drama is a b*tch. By the by, now we see where ole girl gets them massive hams from.

I actually agree with Nelly on this one. Her mom is her manager in her music career. As far as life Ashanti is a grown woman. No man wants to marry a woman where her momma will be all in their business and I don’t disagree with him. Ashanti needs to talk to her mom and tell her mom that she has a life, she’s in love, and she needs her privacy with her man. Everytime you Ashanti and Nelly her mom is always around somewhere. How can someone enjoy that for the rest of their life? Tina needs another job and worry about her younger daughter being all over the place and out of shape. Stop trying to bank so much and live your dreams through your daughter.

I think that Tina has done a good job with Ashanti, she seems down to earth, and I like her music, but she needs to stand up to miss tina and let her know that it’s her life, and she’ll be with whomever she chooses. At the same time, Nelly needs to respect the fact that tina is her mother, and the bond they share surp*****es any she’ll ever have with anyone else, so tread lightly.
