Owning your own private island is the ultimate status symbol and typically something reserved for the super rich.

But if you’ve always longed for the privacy of your own hidden getaway surrounded by water, the country’s cheapest island is currently on the market and available at a bargain price of just under $120,000.

Nay Pond Island certainly isn’t the most glamorous of private islands. It is a rather basic setup, consisting of a simple 400-square-foot log cabin and half an acre of scenic land.

However it offers many of the same benefits as any other private islands, and is ideal for someone looking to get close to nature who enjoys boating and other water-related activities.

Another factor impacting on the price of Nay Pond is its location. Milan, New Hampshire isn’t a sought after location for private islands, the most sought private islands tend to be near Florida.

On the other side of the spectrum…

That (Florida) is the location of the country’s most expensive private island at just under $30million, which is also currently on the market.

Available for $29,500,000, Little Bokeelia Island consist of 104-acres and includes an updated manor house that was originally built in 1928.

The elegant property consists of four bedrooms and four bathrooms. As well a large main house, the island near Bokeelia, Florida, also includes several small cottages.

According to real estate experts, private islands are selling once again after a difficult couple of years following the financial crisis.
