Why would you comment on the appearance of Gabby’s husband, one does not marry for looks alone, he must treat her like a queen. I would rather have an average looking man that treats me well, versus one who is fine and treats me like crap!

No illegitimate kids being born here…he loves his Black Queen, they’ve been married for years, and they have a baby on the way!

Ok, Trudie. You keep living in a world where looks and success don’t matter. Where kindness pays your bills and you can force yourself to be sexually attracted someone. When you get done smoking that, pass it to me.

But while I am still on Earth, I’m going to keep it real. I’m not cruel. This is just a frank discussion. If you worked hard to earn your way of life why can’t I want a man who did the same? If I keep myself up, what is so wrong with saying I like to wake up to a nice smile and body? What is so wrong with not wanting to pump my man with viagra while I’m still in my prime?

I guarantee you I’m not going to work hard for my PhD. and keep my appearance up to settle with someone who’s way past their prime or is not putting for the same effort.

It appears to me that so many brothas and sistas feel the same… UNTIL a white person comes along. Then the list of criteria go out the window. I am speaking the simple truth: a lot of us (black people) set two different standards: 1 for other blacks (we want our dream guy or girl) and 1 for non-blacks (whatever comes along). I am not gonna pretend like I don’t see it.

I bet you right now there is some fat, toothless white girl in Arkansas who truly believes she could take a Nelly from an Ashanti. I also bet you there is some old crusty white guy who thinks he can take a Nicole Parker from a Boris Kodjoe… and the sad thing is they are probably right.

Why can’t black people be fabulous together?

Now, now Trudie, superficiality is an underrated quality, especially when it’s articulated with such clarity, candor and honesty. I applaud Octavia. Ain’t nothing wrong with embracing superficiality…Most people go through life not knowing what they want, but at least Octavia is mentally healthy enough to know what she doesn’t want…And that is to wake up every morning to somebody who she finds unattractive.
