I really like Kelly Rowland’s CD. The problem is that it is being marketed to to wrong(hip-hop) group. The reason why many young people don’t get it is because her lyrics are a little too mature for them. If she would market to a mature audience(contemporary R&B) I believe she would have more success. What I liked most about her CD was that her lyrics and musical arrangements are mature and they remind me of classic Whitney Houston. Most of the young people who don’t get her are most likely Beyonce fans, which kinda speaks for it self. Beyonce lyrics are catchy, but lack subtance and that is what unfortunately most of the young people like today.

Whoever said she should act on TV I agree. That’s something that she does better than Beyonce. I love both singers but Beyonce is dominating the music market and Kelly will never be seen as anything in the industry except as a former Destiny’s Child member. But I have seen her act, I especially liked her in that movie with Duane Martin. What was that called? The Seat Filler? Something like that. It was cheaply done, but cute. I disagree with someone saying that Kelly will never blow up. Personally I think she is already there. Look at all she has done? She has a large following of fans. She has actual talent and is smart enough to know that life isn’t all about seeing how much sex you can have, and she is right, it’s so overrated. The most important thing in life is self actualization, we all strive for this. On the real, I think they could have promoted her album a bit more. I love that she did with Eve and her album is nice. There are a few possibilities for hit singles. She needs more radio airplay, heavy rotation is crucial. She also needs to do some publicity. They should play up her nice girl image a bit more, I think it is refreshing. Perhaps she can do something to help inner city kids or something, something to show her giving back to the community. Another good thing to do would be photographed with Gospel artists like Yolanda Adams and even make an appearance at the Stellar Awards. She could perform and that would drum up some questions if she will be doing gospel music or not. A movie deal wouldn’t hurt either. I’m sure Tyler Perry will be working on something else real soon.
