Celebrities Who Used To Be Homeless

The rags to riches stories are the American dream. But some rags are extreme to the point where the celebrity went all the way from being homeless to being famous. Basically, if they can do it, you can too.

So hear the stories and get inspired.

DMX – His mom left him in a halfway house when he was a teenager and he had to pull himself up. Quite remarkable and even sadder when you see him falling back.

Halle Berry – When she was 21 and getting her acting chops together, she stayed at a homeless shelter in NY. That’s hard work.

Tupac – He lived in a few homeless shelters as a kid growing up in NY before getting into his performing arts school.

djimon hounsou

Djimon Hounsou – He lived under the Eiffel Tower for two years when he was a teenager trying to get his start.

Kelsey Grammer – He camped out behind a theater and his motorcycle while getting his career on track.

Kelly Clarkson performs on her 'Stronger' tour at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Kelly Clarkson – She had to live in a shelter when her house burned down after just moving to the big city. But her and her roommate both made it to success too.

Tyler Perry – He lived in his car writing plays and dreaming of days with fake boobs and a high-pitched lady voice.

Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone – He lived in a bus stop for three weeks. Probably pumping iron the whole time.

Ella Fitzgerald – She was raised as a homeless girl in Brooklyn before singing her way to success.

Jim Carrey – His family lived in his sister’s front yard when he was a teenager doing comedy. Then he moved to L.A. and the rest is history.
