Tiray– in some interview, I not sure which mag, but i think it was Essence, he pretty much blamed black women for his failed shows. He believes we should have supported his shows by watching it. So he *****ed of some black women for those comments since it really isn’t our jobs to support him.
I won’t watch a show if I don’t find it interesting (I only watch one show consistently anyway.)

Taye never blamed women for his failed shows. I love how no one really read the interview, but just jumped on the “Taye hates Black Women” bandwagon because they they dislike him. The interviewer is the one who made all the comments. All Taye said was that if his costar wasn’t white, African American women wouldn’t have been as upset and if they dislike the fact he is with his wife, then they should go find someone else to watch on the screen. I can’t say I disagree with him at all.
Anyways. This picture is from 1995/1996 when they were doing RENT together on Broadway. Age has done them both well. Too bad he is apparently stepping out on her. No one deserves that. Then again if he is and she knows, why does she stay? It isn’t like she needs his money or anything. I guess it is the fact they have been together 10+ years that makes it hard.

I read the interview and based on his statement – Taye Diggs was inferring that the race of his co-star basically is what drove black women from supporting that show! Nevermind the fact that we may not have been interested, or watching something else or most-likely at work or school.
He even mentioned in another article that if the woman is Latina, we are more accepting!
Taye Diggs can marry who the ***** he wants, but the ***** that emanates from his pie hole is what makes me dislike him.
That interview wasn’t the first time he talked and inferred ***** about black women.

I will just agree to disagree about his interview. I read it as a man who was fed up that about having to defend his wife and his life choices. Even the interviewer pointed out it was messed up to even “go there” but he/she did it anyways because that his/her job they had to go there, to push button and sell their story. People have every right to dislike Taye Diggs. I am not his biggest fan myself. He is a fine stage actor (I have seen him on Broadway a few times; “The Wild Party” was a favorite, which also starred his wife by the way) but his film work is not my cup of tea. I just feel that some people like to rag on him for the sake of *****ing and moaning and screaming “uncle tom” for whatever reason. He is corny. He is gay. He is whatever.
Where else has Taye “talked *****” about black women?
That interview (which again many people haven’t even read completely and even admit to it when asked) is the only one that I can think of and is the ONLY one people ever refer too. In that interview Taye made references to being glad Kevin Hill was cancelled because they made the show about to be another “black show” and targeted a black audience when they knew that is wasn’t like that. There were what, two black characters on that show? And his comments about Will and Denzel, well was he wrong? Denzel has admitted to changing things about his movies to cater to the African American community knowing that wouldn’t be happy seeing him kiss his white costars. Will admits that he casted Eva Mendes over a white and black actress because it was “playing it safe”. A black actress wouldn’t have made it a commercial success (sadly) and a white actress would have *****ed people off (predictably). Again how what Taye said any different other than he was a little more *****ed off about it because of his wife’s connection?

I doubt he is with Idina because other woman didn’t want him due to his skin color. I would guess because Taye was in musical theatre singing and dancing his ***** off during the time that people like Tupac and Biggie were at the height of their careers…people probably thought he was gay or “corny”. So he dated people who understood his p*****ion and Idina just so happened to be white. They were orginating a musical together which meant they were together long ***** hours over the course of 2 years. A lot can happen in 2 years.

I think Idina is very pretty. I met her outside of “The Wild Party” and “Wicked” and she is a lovely human being. She has quite the fan following in NYC, always a TON of people trying to take her picture or get an autograph. It is a shame people rag on her without even trying to know her.
