Taraji P. Henson talks about her role in “Benjamin Button”:

In Benjamin Button, which hits theaters nationwide on Christmas Day, she stars as Brad Pitt’s aging mother, a central role that has industry gums flapping. “She’s in a movie that people are saying is an Oscar contender and could be one of the most successful films of the year,” says Sanaa Lathan, her friend and co-star in Tyler Perry’s recent The Family That Preys (Lionsgate).

Director John Singleton, who has worked often with Henson, goes a step further: “They say she’s in Oscar contention.” But Henson demurs. “I really don’t like to think about the Oscars, because I’ve been hearing that since my very first movie, Baby Boy,” she says, aglow in a green and white zebra-striped Veronica M. sundress and sparkly metallic flip-flops. “If God sees it in my future to win, then that’s incredible because that means I’ve touched that many people. But I can’t think about it. What if it doesn’t happen? I leave it up to the stars.”

She can sit there and act cool, but we ain’t. We love Taraji and can’t wait to see her walk across that stage to accept her award. How do Bossip folk feel about the Oscar talk surrounding her role in “Benjamin Button”?

i think it would be AMAZING if she won because black people RARELY win Oscars, let alone get nominated..

  • jandsmama

Not so sure this time for Oscar since she wasn’t recognized for a Golden Globe. Regardless, she is fantastic in every role she does. Best of luck Taraji!

  • CaRaMeLBuSitBaBy

    I LOVE U TARAJI!!!! U GOOOO GIRRRRLLLL!

  • http://www.olkuntryazzgul.com Toya Anitri

That would be wonderful for Taraji…She’s a great actress and she deserves it. Hell, she deserved it in that movie with Don Cheadle, “Talk to Me”, where he played the ex-con-turned-radio-deejay…It’s been a long time coming. And it’s her time to shine.

  • ShavonDenise

She’s been hearing it since Baby Boy?! What? I love you Taraji but the Oscars aint checking for no “urban” performances like that. Like if thats the case, Vivca AND Jada AND Latifah shouldve got nominated for one for Set It Off! Boyz In the Hood shouldve swept the awards and Larenz Tate shouldve won for playing Frankie Lyman AND Dead Presidents! I still think we need a REAL Black Oscars(not the fake NAACP & other awards). Something that will recognize our people on a grand scale like the Oscars do. Im not implying that the Oscars are for Whites because they arent but there are 101 Reese Witherspoons and only one Halle Berry allowed.

  • http://myspace.com/daintygirlgt anitabonita

I loved her in the movie her lines were great funny and hit perfectly she played her role verrry well along with the rest of the cast. I was wraped up in the film and would love to see any one involved in the film be recognized by someone.

  • Film

I may have to check The Curious Case out soon.

  • S&J

I really think you all should go check out Benjamin Button, it was a GREAT movie and Taraji P. Henson deserves an Oscar nod. It was a bit long but I didn’t notice because the movie had such a beautiful message.

  • jandsmama

ShavonDenise, Terrance Howard was nominated in “Hustle & Flow”…it can happen.

  • BlackLADYDoctor

I still can’t believe it’s hard out here for a pimp received an oscar. It is hard out there.

It was priceless seeing Crunchy Black and them in a room filled with all of that botox and loaned out diamonds.

  • Sydney

I saw this movie this week and loved it — It reminded me a little of Forrest Gump with its personal look at history, star-crossed lovers, etc. I think Ms. Henson did a commendable job in her role.

Another sister, Viola Davis, is also a standout in “Doubt” with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and if I’m not mistaken, she has also been nominated for a supporting actress Golden Globe. So we may see at least two black women contending for Oscars soon. :)

  • Sydney

Here’s a link to a recent Essence.com story on both ladies, FYI:

    http://www.essence.com/news_entertainment/entertainment/articles/tarajisagnominations

  • 7lady

yes she definitly deserves it! the girl is cold! she jus seem so down to earth. i loved her in that movie when she was a pregnant prostitute, living downsouth lookin all hot and greasy lol! she played that part

  • Shanny

Saw the movie last night. It was awesome (although 3 hours long) and Taraji did an AWESOME job!The film will definitely be a hit at the Oscars!

  • Film

    Sydney

You told me you were going to see Doubt yesterday, how was it?

  • Sydney

    Hey Film :)

I saw Doubt yesterday, and I thought it was very well-acted. Viola Davis has a scene in the film, and she put a lot into it. Meryl Streep was mesmerizing as always, as was Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I never saw the play, so I can’t compare it with the film version, but I thought the movie had many layers and complexities.

  • Sydney

The on-screen power struggle between Streep and Hoffman was very interesting. . .

  • Sydney

On a side note, The Curious Case was based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald short story that I’m thinking of reading. . .I hadn’t previously heard of it. I read The Great Gatsby, but that was years ago. . .

  • Film

Is that your families’ tradition to watch a film after a holiday? I remember you saying you saw Four Christmases after thanksgiving.

  • Sydney

    Film

LOL, yes, we like seeing movies during the holidays, and as long as I can remember, we’ve always seen a movie on Christmas Day, usually before dinner.

  • BE

Sydney – who is that in your gravie?

  • Sydney

I thought The Curious Case was a good holiday movie — It had some humorous moments, a love story, family-related themes, and, yes, some sadness as well. It’s also the best Brad Pitt movie I’ve seen to date — I forgot it was him in the movie. He really went through a metamorphosis.

  • Sydney

    Hey BE!

That’s Rosa Parks after she was arrested for not giving up her seat on the bus.

  • BE

Okay, now I understand, I wasn’t sure that was you with a convict in your gravie!

    Hope your Christmas was good!

  • Sydney

    LOL!

OK, maybe it’s time to change my gravie. . .It was my poor attempt to post a depiction of resistance to the status quo, lol.

I had a very nice Christmas! How was yours?

  • Sydney

Here’s a link to background behind my gravie photo, btw:

    http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1866753_1815114,00.html

  • BE

No, it is a good gravie now that I know who it is

My Christmas was good, quiet..can’t wait to get those after Christmas sales

I like Taraji she always seems so real in roles and when she interviews.

  • BE

thanks for the link…are you a teacher? cause you always giving assignments and homework>>>LOL!

  • Sydney

    @BE

The sales should be nice — I just hate all the traffic.

Yes, Taraji is very real in her roles. Overall, I didn’t like Hustle & Flow (just didn’t connect with me), but I liked her performance. And she’s real in this new film.

I’ve started seeing ads for her new T.D. Jakes movie, too.

  • Film

I’m trying to get dress and go to my grandmother’s home.

That’s a nice tradition. Have you ever been to The Met?

  • Sydney

No, I’m not a teacher, LOL!

    I’m sorry — I just really love history. . .

  • Sydney

I’ve been to the Met, but it was years ago. . .Are you headed there or did you go this week?

  • BE

I wasn’t being critical – you have the best information!

Are you a writer? or a lawyer?

These are my other 2 occupations I think fit your personality

  • Film

I’ve been to the Lincoln Center several times, but, no, I didn’t go this week. The Great Gatsby was there some years ago.

    What production/concert did you attend?

  • Film

    LOL

  • Sydney

Writing is a part of my field. :)

Are you a writer? I enjoy your posts.

  • dayg715

i pray that she does get nominated, and win. i think she’s a fantastic actress.

  • dayg715

Taraji’s performances in “Hustle & Flow” and “Talk To Me (w/ Don Cheadle) should have been nominated.

  • Sydney

It was a long time ago, but I recall seeing the Alvin Ailey dancers at the Lincoln Center. . .

  • Film

    But, of course.

  • Sydney

    Be quiet, Film, lol.

  • Film

I’ve been to ask you this. When you saw Rachelle Ferrell, were you in school at the time?

  • Film

    Yes ma’am

  • Film

    been meaning to ask

  • Sydney

    Film

It was years ago, but I think I saw Rachelle Ferrell the summer before I started grad school. I remember The Blue Note being very crowded, and I think we were lucky enough to find seats. I love that venue, and the performance was wonderful. She blew everyone away. . .

  • BE

Syd – no I write alot also at work – my posts are just like my real personality always got my opinion but I like to read the other posts becasue sometimes you can get a different perspective. Some of the posters are funny as hell!! I must admit those make my day go by swiftly sometimes.

  • Crazy Ass Rodney

She won’t win unless she sucks a white man off!!!

  • Film

Okay, I was trying to get an idea of which institution you attended. If it’s in the same locality/city where you saw her perform, then I think I have an idea.

  • Sydney

    @BE

Yes, some of them are very amusing. And then there are the strange and combative ones, lol. But I have learned a lot on here. :)

    @Film

Yeah, I thought you might. :)

  • Film

LOL, I know now (I think). I was accepted at the school I’m thinking of (If I’m right), but I chose another university for a specific program.

  • Sydney

LOL, yeah, you’re probably thinking of the right one — For the program of my choice, it was the perfect setting.

  • Sydney

So did you go to school in the tri-state area?

  • Film

So, are you currently in the profession that you thought you were destined to be in, or did you choose another career path?

  • Sydney

I’m actually contemplating furthering my studies. . .

And that’s all you’re getting out of me.

So who do you think the Oscar contenders will be next year? :)

  • Film

    LOL, maybe..

  • Sydney

Ahem, who will be the Oscar contenders, Film?

  • Film

‘I’m actually contemplating furthering my studies. . .’

Go for it. You’re a smart woman. I would have a Ph.D right now if I would not have chosen another occupation.

Do you mean best picture/actors or both. Have you ever attended the Oscars?

  • Film

‘LOL, maybe..’ was in response to the tri-state question.

  • Sydney

“‘LOL, maybe..’ was in response to the tri-state question.”

    Oh, OK. . .I see.

    Yeah, I’ve always wanted a Ph.D.

No, I’ve never attended the Oscars. Have you? And I’m referring to any category that interests you.

  • Sydney

Has my new gravie popped up yet?

  • SONGBIR09

THATS WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR!…REAL ACTORS DONT DO FILMS FOR OSCAR BUT BECAUSE THEY WANT PEOPLE TO GET THE MESSAGE OF THE FILM AND BECAUSE THEY HAVE A PASSION FOR ACTING…I HOPE SHE AND VIOLA GET THEIR NOMINATIONS….

  • Film

Director- Ridley Scott for Body of Lies

Cinematography – St. Anna (I know Spike probably will not win)

    Editing- Iron Man

    Sound Editing – Dark Editing

Writing – The Curious Case. I haven’t seen it yet, but the synopsis seemed creative

Visual Effects- The Mummy or The Chronicles of Narnia

Yes, I’ve been in attendance at the Kodak before, and I still haven’t seen a lot of movies yet. How about you?

  • Film

No, I still see Ms. Parks.

    Dark Knight. TYPO

  • Film

    Sorry about the typos.

    Screenplay for The Curious Case

  • Film

Oh, yeah the Art Direction for St. Anna or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

  • Sydney

    Impressive list :)

    So how was the Kodak?

No, I haven’t seen a lot of movies either. I still haven’t seen the full list of Golden Globe nominees.

  • Elwood Dills

Angela Bassett is overdue for an Oscar.
I loved her in Strange Days. Especially the scene where the police did a Rodney King on her. No one takes an ass kicking like Angela Bassett. She brings certain nuances to her scenes when she’s getting physically abused. I’ll never forget that scene in What’s Love Got To Do With It, where Lawrence Fishburn’s Ike Backhanded her, dragged and bent her over that recording counsole and sodomized her. The brilliance of that scene, was how Angela was able bring a subtle sense of eroticism while being raped. A sterling example of true animalistic black on black love. She’s a true thespian, worthy of an Oscar.

  • Film

LOL, I had a very great time. I met a few people that I’ve always had high respects for, and I can honestly say that certain rumors were false that pertained to them as far as their pessimistic attitudes (well, that’s my perception). They were very down to earth, and pleasant to be around. A far as the ceremony is concerned, it was lengthy, but I only attended for networking purposes.

I didn’t attend the after parties, but I’m sure they were a blast.

  • Film

This is off topic, but are you familiar with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder)?

  • Sydney

    Who did you meet? :)

You didn’t sneak into one party?

  • Sydney

LOL, what made you bring up DID?

I think I may have heard of it, but elaborate, please.

  • Sydney

Oh, I just looked it up — I know it by the less clinical name, lol.

  • Film

LOL, why so many questions, huh? I had a significant other at the time, and I was very excited before the ceremony concluded, and alcohol would have made my state worse. I’m sure you understand what I mean.

There will be other after parties in the future, so, I can make up for it then.

  • Sydney

Lord have mercy. . .TMI, brother, TMI, lol.
    :)

  • Film

Well, you said, ‘Gotcha,’ yesterday in a response to my comment, so, I figured you’re suffering from the condition (jokingly), but definitely in a good way. :-)

  • Film

    Hey, you asked.

  • Sydney

LOL, did that throw you off?

  • Film

What do you mean by, ‘Throw you off?’

  • Sydney

Did the “Gotcha” throw you off?

  • Film

I took your response to mean something else. Basically, it was you the entire time. Am I wrong?

  • Sydney

    Yes, it was me. :)

  • Film

LOL, I knew it. But out of curiosity, what was the purpose/your intentions?

Oh yeah, you really didn’t understand the ‘put a spell on you comment?’ I may have been mistaken, but I thought that was Nina Simone in your gravie at the time.

  • Sydney

You told me that one of the questions was for someone else, so I was conveying my understanding. What did you mean, Mr. Film?

Yes, that was Nina Simone in my gravie — That was a cute reference, but I was a little confused by your technical difficulties, lol.

  • Soul Touch

IMO she should have been chosen to play Eartha Kitt…not only would she do justice to the part, they also favor eachother.

    still luv ya Bee

  • Film

Okay, Ms. Sydney, I asked you, ‘What about the first question?’ I didn’t recollect until later that night that it wasn’t you that wrote that statement, but someone else. Remember, ‘That wasn’t me?’

Technical difficulties, huh? Microphone checka, 1,2, checka, yeah, that wasn’t funny. :-)

  • Sydney

Ohhh. . .I just connected the dots. Sorry about that, lol.

    No, that wasn’t me. . .

    Um. . .

How’s the weather where you are?

  • roosevelt taylor

    I hope she gets it

  • Film

Okay, Sydney. :-) From what I’ve been told (haven’t been out yet), it’s not that cold, and it’s cloudy out. I’m still waiting on my dad to get here so we can go see my grandmother.

  • Sydney

LOL, that’s nice. You’re going to have dinner with her?

  • Film

What’s so funny, Sydney? No, I’m just visiting her before I leave the city.

  • Sydney

You gave me your weather report.

I think it’s very nice that you’re able to visit your grandmother. I wish mine were still here.

  • Film

Oh, I see. Yeah, she’s pretty old, so I try to visit her whenever I’m at my parents. Are you in D.C. or are you currently located northeast of where I was during Thanksgiving?

  • Sydney

I’m located northeast at the moment — I’m traveling back tomorrow.

I like our conversations, too, by the way. :)

  • Film

I travel back tomorrow as well. We’re behind schedule, so, I have to report back early. Does this city you’re in start with a D, R, or G?

‘I like our conversations, too, by the way.’

I assume that’s from the other day. :-)

  • Sydney

LOL, you are really digging, aren’t you? Yes.

Yes, that’s from the other day. :)

  • Film

Yeah, I know I’m being nosey, but I can’t help it. You’re interesting, too. You actually told me, but I don’t think those were your intentions.

  • Sydney

LOL, yeah, you’ve gotten a lot more out of me than I wanted to disclose. . .

  • Sydney

Oh, off the subject, but I want to see The Reader, too, with Kate Winslet, before the Oscars. . .

And below is a link to a Globe and Mail story on Taraji:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20081226.VAUGHAN26/TPStory/Entertainment

  • Film

No, I meant you told me before today, but I don’t think those were your intentions. I want ask anymore personal questions, okay?

  • Film

    How was your Christmas?

  • Sydney

    No, it’s fine. . .

It’s just, well, you have to be careful on here.

  • Sydney

My Christmas was fun — It’s my favorite holiday.

We drove around the neighborhood last night and looked at lights, and it was still magical to me — I hate winter, but I love the decorations and traditions. And I love Christmas songs. :)

    How was yours?

  • Film

No, I completely understand. I’ve listed my credentials on here before, and I regret it. I think my ego got in the way. I was going to ask you if you wanted to do a Q & A.

  • Film

My favorite seasons are winter and autumn. Our Christmas very exciting this year. My brother proposed to his girlfriend, so, we’ll have a new edition to the family soon. I really like her, too. Other than that, it was a typical day for me. Oh, I always look forward to the basketball games.

  • Film

    was very exciting. TYPO

  • Sydney

You listed your credentials on here? I must have missed that, lol. I know you’re very smart and accomplished and all.

Yeah, I’ve let some things slip out that I shouldn’t have. . .

No, I do not want to do a Q&A! LOL

  • Sydney

Congratulations! Coincidentally, my brother is getting married next week, so there are a lot of changes underway. His fiancee came over for Christmas dinner. We’re going to have another addition to the family in the next several months, but that’s another story. . .

  • Film

Yeah, I listed in detail what I do for a living, and it was very immature. What’s funny is the person didn’t retort at all. I was expecting something negative or positive.

‘No, I do not want to do a Q&A!’

Okay, but just one question, and no more (I promise). Why didn’t I strike you as the pugilist type?

  • Film

    Congratulations to you as well.

  • Sydney

“Why didn’t I strike you as the pugilist type?”

You strike me as a person who’s much more eloquent and effective with words than with physical confrontation. And that’s a good thing. :)

  • Film

When I was in middle school, I used to carry a pocket dictionary around with me. That’s where those multi syllabic words stem from. LOL :-)

  • Sydney

Do you still have that pocket dictionary?

I still have my dictionary from my high school English class, and it’s one of my most treasured possessions. I love words. I started a notebook at home of words and definitions that were unfamiliar to me, so that I could enhance my vocabulary.

    Yes, I’m a nerd.

  • Sydney

When I was a kid, I read a book about Dr. King and his love of words, and how he hated to fight, but he found that he could quell disputes with his eloquence, and I greatly respected that aspect of his life. That he appreciated the power of the language, and his oratory reflected his immense talent.

  • darealwifey

Loves me some, Taraji. She is one of my favorite actresses, and it is nice to see her getting some shine! I would love to see Sanaa, Gabby, Nia Long, Regina King, Morris Chestnut, blah, blah, blah…ALLLLLLLL of these actors deserve to be mainstream, household names like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, etc. But for now, it is nice that Taraji is getting a little shine. Gone Yvette!

  • Film

You too, huh? Yes, I still have it. I attended a convention with my dad when I was in the seventh grade, and the guest speaker was very eloquent; I couldn’t fathom his entire speech or choice of words. So, afterwards, I approached him and asked how was his speech so fluent, so appropriate, and such a powerful discourse. He responded by reaching in his briefcase, and giving me his dictionary.

I have a nickname that is a result from hours spent studying the dictionary. LOL, it’s paid off though.

So, your subject was English, huh? Mine was science.

  • Elwood Dills

    darealwifey

Yes, that scene in Babyboy, where Tyreece goes down on her as a way of appologizing for backhanding her was pure a pure comedic exercise in ghetto wretchedness. She has definitely come a long way to becoming a respectable thespian.

  • Film

Which book about MLK? I read earlier that you liked history. Are you familiar with the Wilmington Race Riot of 1898?

  • Sydney

    LOL, you have a nickname?

Yeah, I think I have at least a couple of dictionaries at home, and I’ve also subscribed to a daily e-mail from m-w.com with a new word. Reading is also a must.

I liked biology, but I was never a good match with math and science. The highest course I took was physics, and it was really challenging for me, lol.

Did you like math as well?

  • Southerntech

I’am going to see the movie today with my girlfreind today. It looks really good and a great cast too Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett & Taraji P. Henson

  • Film

I’m thinking about telling you my nickname. But, no, I never preferred math. I’ve always been passionate science. The hardest math I took was Calculus with Analytic Geometry II. My AP English courses in high school were challenging for me. I became friends with this girl who was like the teacher’s pet after I called her a certain name. Thinking back, I was so scared to go home that day. My father met as soon as I came opened the front door. But, she eventually tutored me and vice versa, so, I still excelled.

  • Sydney

    LOL, what is your nickname?

And what did you call the girl in your class?

I took AP English, too — I loved my teacher. :) You took the exam, right?

  • Film

No, I’ll check that out, and thank you! Speaking of PBS, I’m a huge fan of Jazz A Film by Ken Burns.

  • L.A. Chic

I hope she makes it to the Oscars too. Love her! I wish Taraji nothing but the best. She deserves it all.

  • Film

Yeah, I own it. My parents are avid jazz fans, so, I picked up some habits.

That should be, thinking back, I was scared when I arrived home that day. TYPO

  • Sydney

I like that nickname, Book. It fits. :)

I think a lot of kids (including myself) had similar experiences that mirror yours with feeling a little out of place. When I went to an HBCU for undergrad, I was overwhelmed by how at home I felt among a sea of black nerds, lol.

But your dad was right — That wasn’t you at all, nor should it be.

  • Film

Oh, look who’s digging deep, now. :-)

  • http://WWW.yahoo.COM Man, I just don’t care

wut’s going on in here? wut up Sydney?

    @FILM

Hey bro. The sisters were talkin bout you the other day. They want you to put up a pic of yourself dawg. They were scared to ask and stuff.

  • Sydney

Hey Man, lol. How are you?

    @Film

I guess I am digging deep — I hope you don’t mind. I’ll back off if you do.

  • http://WWW.yahoo.COM Man, I just don’t care

I’m good Sydney. Ima leave but I got my eyes on this cat…..

  • Film

I, my father, and brother all attended HBCUs for our undergraduate studies. Have you ever attended any of the MEAC or CIAA tournaments in the past few years?

  • Sydney

    OK, Man :)

    Film

I haven’t been in a while, but, yes, I’ve been to a number of tournaments, and they’re very entertaining. I love the sartorial displays, the festive half-time shows, the vendors, etc. :)

Yes, we have an HBCU tradition in my family as well.

  • Film

    Man, I just don’t care

The sisters? Who are you referring to? No, I can’t put a photo up of myself. I have to be anonymous on here, for the most part.

    Sydney

No, I don’t mind at all.

  • Sydney

“No, I don’t mind at all.”

    Good :)

  • Film

    Did you pledge?

Does he mean he has his eye on me?

  • http://WWW.yahoo.COM Man, I just don’t care

    @FILM
“The sisters? Who are you referring to? No, I can’t put a photo up of myself. I have to be anonymous on here, for the most part.”
    _____________________________________________________________

I understand if you want to remain “anonymous.” That beind said I’ll allow the females to remain anonymous as well. A couple of them were impressed with your intelligence and conversation.

Well, it’s up to you if you change your mind. Life is short you know…

  • Sydney

    Don’t mind him, lol. He’s just joking. . .

No, I didn’t pledge, did you?

  • Film

    Man, I just don’t care

Okay, I’ll keep that in mind, and I’ll let you know if I change my mind.

  • Sydney

    LOL

  • Film

    Yes, I pledged.

LOL, I can’t believe I told you my nickname.

  • Sydney

It’s OK about your nickname — Are you worried someone might recognize you?

I would ask you which frat you pledged, but that may be too personal.

  • Film

No, I’m not worried. My family and others only know me by that name. I just don’t tell people often.

I might tell you one day about the fraternity.

  • Sydney

Well, we won’t bring that up again, lol. I do like it, though. :)

  • Film

Yeah right, and just like the flying chair? And I’m sure you do like it.

  • Sydney

LOL, I’m sorry — OK, no more chair mentions.

You’re all healed, right? I know you nearly lost consciousness and all. . .

  • Film

That wasn’t me, Sydney at 7:31.

  • Film

At 7:31 i don’t know what came over me. i guess i just typed what i was thinking.

  • Sydney

    Oh, wow, I know that wasn’t you. . .

    SMH.

Anyhoo, moving on. . .You still there?

  • Film

No, it’s okay. I know you’re only joking.

‘I know you nearly lost consciousness and all. . .’

LOL, keep them coming, Sydney. Get it all out.

    No, I feel great.

  • Film

    LOL, yes, I’m still here.

  • Sydney

LOL, it’s all out, and I’m glad you’re OK. :)

  • Film

I like seeing your sense of humor.

  • Sydney

“I like seeing your sense of humor.”

    Good :)

    Don’t mind the troll, btw.

  • Film

Btw, i noticed how MAN came in and out and now my impostor appear. smh

  • Film

So, what were some of the institutions you’ve been accepted to for undergrad or grad school? Or is that a personal question?

  • Sydney

No, this isn’t Man — He doesn’t do that sort of thing. He’s one of the nice posters.

This is one of the impostors, and I think he already tried once to get our attention and when that didn’t work, he decided to impersonate you.

Have you thought about putting up a gravie?

  • Sydney

Also, I noted that the character “Wally” has changed names and is re-using the same posts.

    LOL @ /////

    Thanks, I think. :)

  • Film

Sydney, I did not post that at 7:44 pm. And I’ve never thought about putting a gravie up.

  • Sydney

I can share one of the institutions — Spelman. But I decided to go to a co-ed school.

    How about you?

  • Sydney

If you want to post a gravie, it’s really easy to create one at http://www.gravatar.com. Just a thought.

  • Film

I was accepted to a school in that area as well, Tuskegee, and some others.

  • Film

Actually my dad is one of the original airmen.

  • Film

You want me to put up a gravie, huh? I’ll think about it.

  • Film

I have some gravy for you alright.

  • Sydney

Yeah, I think a gravie may cut down on some of this. . .

  • Film

LOL, okay, I will. Did you check out Okay Player.com yet?

  • HOT THANG

Listen, we all know the Oscars aint what they used to be (and with that Australian guy hosting the 09 version, it’s sure to be a snoozer again). That said if all these ho-hum white actresses can win for good, but not great, performances then give the damn thing to Taraji. Most black actresses can play “honey-baby-chile” roles as well as she did. I think an Oscar will give her access to more unusual material than just mammy or prostitute or ex-con roles. PLEASE DON’T WEAR NO BULLS*** DRESS TO THE CEREMONY!!

  • Sydney

Oh, thanks for reminding me! Yes, I did check out that site, and it’s great. Thanks!

I also saw this article on theroot.com about it:

  • kenya

I like Taraji’s non chanlantness about winning an oscar, i’m sure matt, tina, solange, and beyonce will be raising hell about this one if she does win. Take that Sasha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDUUUUUUUP!!!!!

She’s grown on me. I don’t remember her so much in ‘Baby Boy’ because she was over-shadowed by Adrienne-Joi Johnson who finally showed depth in her performance. I was impressed with Taraji P. Henson’s performance in ‘Hustle And Flow,’ and in ‘Talk To Me’ she had me laughing my ass off. I’m rooting for her and/ or Viola Davis from ‘Doubt’ and (‘Antoine Fisher’). Both of them have that Angela Bassett elite quality to their acting.

  • Sydney

Why was Hugh Jackson picked? That’s an odd choice, don’t you think?

    LOL @ “cretin/shrewd ratio”

    Yes, you can say that.

  • Film

My dad just got back. I’m going to see my grandmother now. She called about thirty minutes ago complaining that it’s her bedtime, and we’re not at her place yet. She told us not to expect a long visit. LOL, I love my granny. Anyway, how long will you be on here?

  • ///////

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWSHADDUUUUUUUP!!!!!

You got blasted on the Eartha Kitt post.

  • Sydney

Enjoy your trip. :) I may be on here for a little while longer.

  • Film

Well, the Oscars’ viewing numbers aren’t as high as they’ve been in the past. From what I was told (maybe false), his international icon status is suppose to give the ratings a boost. The host are usually comedians, so, I’m dubious about how all of this will play out.

  • Film

If I don’t get to talk with you again, have a safe trip back, and a good night!
    :-)

  • Sydney

Thanks, Film. :) Safe travels to you as well.

  • Film

    I think i’m in love :)

  • Razzell Dazzell

I want to see this film. Whether she wins or not, she is a great actress and Brad is a great actor. I’m going to check it out! Good Blessing!

  • Film

If you’re still logged on, are you flying or driving back?

  • http://myspace.com/mockrockstar Mock Rock Star is continuing to have Delusions of Grandeur

I am so happy for her and she deserves it…she has to know that the industry lies because Baby Boy was pure comedy…the only person who deserved an award in that flick was Ving Rhames…but back to post Taraji keep doing your thing…U make black women proud and I’m going to check out that flick cause U’re in it and then review it on myspace.com/mockrockstar but I’m going to go see The Spirit first cause the last movie I watch of Brad Pitt was like watching a “gay” western

  • jonjon23

One of the sexiest women in the world.

  • Sydney

    Film

Sorry, I fell asleep. I’m driving back. I know you’re traveling, too, so have a safe trip. :)

  • Coco Lndn

havent seen the film yet, but have always loved her as an actress- so yeah.

  • Wesley Hikes

    She WILL get a nomination.

  • Toussaint Beaupre

I think she was good in the movie but Other actresses have been better and did not win. Angela in “Whats love got…” Nia in “Love Jones”, Whoopi in the “Color Purple” (nothing by tyler perry should ver be nominated for anything) We do good jobs in some black films and are ignored, when we do a white film and are good we get recognized….. America …. I wish her the best, I loved her in the movie

  • kiko

ewww something about her bothers me but she looks great in that pic. She WOULD be the perfect Eartha Kitt. I would be all over that if they cast her. I don’t like seeing her all ghetto looking and disheveled in films all the time.

  • afrogenetics

Well deserved Oscar buzz, she is great in this film

  • Toni Montana

    ^wow. seek help.

saw the movie yesterday. I wasnt that impressed with her performance. dont get me wrong she did a good job…i dunno…maybe i spent too much time lookin at that little kid with old face..
