Some parents get lazy and let tv, the streets, etc. raise their children and the outcome is predictable. The father was “in her life” but was he a part of it? Nothing is guaranteed, but odds are if your child is under constant guidance now there will be no need to proclaim your childs innocence later.

Sounds like a job for the parents to me…….just saying. No, my parents weren’t always behind my back either but wherever I went I carried their teachings with me……to not be weak, always think for yourself and know the consequences or rewards of your actions, understand your self worth and with all that, know that you are loved. I’m sure you had the benefit of the same type parental involvement. If you can’t supply an alibi for your 15 year old child (as in: “She was home with me”) then, as a parent, you slipping. my parents worked a lot! my father was a banker and my mother was an accountant something, at 10 or 11 they were sleeping! and it was like EASY to get out and come back without them noticing! as my parents never wanted me to go out, i just sneaked out of the house! authority is one thing, but you can deny your kids to make mistakes or their own experience. then the majority of the parents are failing. when your kid spend 8 to 10 hours at school and only get to see you on the week end and few hours at night! you can’t be held responsible for everything. As a young person, I know that you have to construct yourself and try to find your place in this society (school, neighbour, etc), WITHOUT your parents! This why you are so conflicted because it is the time when you want to think by yourself and you just go against your parents because they are the one that are actually forcing you to sleep early, not to go out not to do this or that! You cant tell me you never felt that way! this is the time when you experience thngs. Coming from a very catholic family, i never discuss sex with my parents but I know my mother was really into that no sex before the marriage thing. but guess waht, things did not go that way! Some parents don’t have any problem with their daughters having sex with men or experiencing. I even know a mother who bought the birth control pill for her daughter who was 14.
each person has its own values and cannot make their kids be what they want! all they can do is teach them what is right or wrong! you cant force your kids to be doctor or to stay virgin because most of all they are people who are ENTITLED to teir choice in life. To me kids are NOT our products! we don’t get to decide what their life is gonna be, we just help them take the best decision for themselves. We try to give them the right cards, that’s it!

In retrospect, it is just too bad it was OJ…..not the best example of “Black Pride”.

The system is corrupt…..starting with flooding our streets with law enforcement (“for our protection”), the unjust laws enacted, backwards sentencing guidlines, conflict of interest within the public defenders office (they are paid by the same state trying to lock you up) a growing (in size and PROFIT) disproportionately Black prison population and the prisons (which are more and more becoming privatized) that house them. Where do we start? The only place I can think of is home…teach your children the above (they can handle it) so they know exactly what they are up against. Don’t let society tell them that “justice will prevail”…. just for starters. Hopefully you WILL be in a position to change just one of those miscarriages of justice I elluded to. Good luck.

well good for you! I also stayed virgin until i was 20 (and im 26 now), not because i did not want to but because i was afraid my parents found out and be disapppointed in me! All my life i was just tryng to please them! and some how, i am not mad at my brother because he is not really doing any wrong, just living his life and not asking himself many questions because when you get older, you have all those kind of questions, troubles, taxes to pay, etc.. i have different kind of parents! they wanted to do well, i atually think im a good person who don’t really do no harm around me! but i used to feel so frustrated because ive never been able to be myself! I just wanted them to be proud of me! To me, if you can make sure that your kid has a sense of respect, a high self esteem and a good education, not only at school but if you can make them read or be curious about the world thay live in and never refrain them from their own sensitivity ,then im good! after that, i would just want them to be HAPPY! Im not a judemental person and i can understand them making mistakes! but if they has this sense of respect and high self esteem and the feeling that they can achieve anything they want, i think i could sleep at night without no worry!

As much as I would like to blame the parents in this, I have to say that is not necessarily the case. I think when children are born, they grow up to be either leaders or followers. Leaders can be criminals but most of them have the ability to be honest and successful adults. Leaders are rarely misled by others. They’re usually the ones delegating. Followers, on the other hand, are easily misled. The problem with them is they always need someone to “latch” on for guidance. Sometimes that guidance may be good and sometimes it may be bad. This girl is clearly a follower like most gang members. She wanted to be a part of something and she got drawn into a bad situation that is going to cost her life!!! Sad times!!!

I pray that when or if I have children, they will be born leaders!!! That way, I have a better chance of raising a successful adult!!

The raging Staten Island mother accused of beating her 10-year-old son to death told fellow inmates she “just lost it” with the boy, and confessed to police that she’d been beating him for years.

“She was telling a lot of people that the kid got out of hand and she just lost it,” one inmate said as he was released yesterday morning.

Police arrived at Melissa Sekulski’s apartment in St. George on Friday night and found Jaquan Porter dead on the floor. Sekulski, 30, confessed to the crime and a three-year barrage of abuse.

Sekulski is accused of pummeling Jaquan with a belt and knocking the overweight, 250-pound child against a wall in their apartment Friday night. Jaquan hit his head in the fall and didn’t receive immediate medical attention.

Sekulski’s next-door neighbor said the frantic mother ran to his home about 7 p.m. on Saturday, screaming that her son couldn’t breathe.

“I went over to the house. The kid was on the ground completely lifeless,” said J.R. Moore, 50.

“There was a lot of fluid coming out of his nose. His mother told me he was having trouble breathing and he wanted to lay down on the floor.

“I was thinking, poor woman – I was really feeling sorry for her,” he said.

Prosecutors at the Staten Island courthouse told a different story at her arraignment yesterday, saying she confessed to routinely beating her son over the past three years, including the deadly bout on the night of the attack.

“The defendant has been physically abusing the victim for years. She failed to provide adequate medical care for him,” said Assistant District Attorney Michael Shollar.

Shollar called their home uninhabitable and said there was insect poison throughout the home. He also said Sekulski confessed to repeatedly burning Jaquan with a spoon.

Sekulski will appear in court again today on an outstanding warrant for a domestic incident. Police would not comment on the nature of the charge but said it was filed against Sekulski concerning her now-dead son.

Stunned family members called her an excellent mother.

“They were always side by side. That was her world, and this is a total shock to the whole family,” said her older brother Ogie Sekulski.

“She was trying to get a new place to live through the shelter system,” he said. “They won’t let us go into the apartment to get anything. It’s just an unbelievable situation.

“She didn’t do it on purpose. She needs to be on suicide watch,” he said.

Ogie Sekulski said the boy’s father, Charles Porter, went to Staten Island to claim the body and was “in the process of grieving his son.”

most of us know disrepectful lil children, who think they know everything and don’t even no how to piss properly, who get in trouble almost all of the time. all i can state is this lil girl will be passed around like a blunt in jail

All that I can say is hold your kids close, very close. Don’t just watch them grow up, but participate. And for the person who watched this girl grow up, instead of cussing in your post, please enlighten us as to how this all went so drastically wrong. It’s tragic, but telling the story may save someone else’s children.

Burn that murderer at the stake. To the father this is what happens when teens spend large amounts of time alone and not keeping her minor ass on lock down your just as guilty as she is. If you want to fell like you belong to a team or “family” join the YWCA not a gang.

Why are folks talking to her like she is a child. When you commit such savage crimes like this…you are an adult…period. She needs to be shot…literally…shot..she is no good to society and wont ever be. She doesn’t need a spanking or time out…she is a savage nut who needs to be shot…so the rest of society can breath. Kids are so dumb these days, they think they are so grown. I say if they want to battle like this with gangs send their asses over to Iraq and leave them there.

Oh, and if she did it her conscious will get her. Trust me that poor boy’s dismembered body and the other boy she helped kill will be the last things and faces she sees before she sleeps at night, and the first she sees before she wakes.

When young people start commiting crimes, you can’t slap them on the wrist and give them probation. You have to put them in jail, so thaey know that crime dosn’t pay. If they decide when they get out to commit more crime put them back in jail for a longer period. Stop making excuses for our youth. They should be held accountable for all of their actions. As far as the white people posting stupid comments, serial killers are usally white, %90 of people who kill their babies are white. Napolian, Hitler, Mussalini, The Pilgrams were all serial killers. Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dalmer, Ted Bundy, just to name a few has brought disgrace to your race also. So sit down and STFU.

Now I feel she can be saved if her mother is not already a crack head and her daddy is not the local neighborhood pimp/pusher, but someone better get to her before she has kids by either Pookie, Ray-Ray, or Earl or maybe even the father, brother or uncle, or some other low-life loser who is going to jump her into the gang and then take her to a party where she will be gang raped.
