Though, Obama is not in the majority of the African American males who strive not to do anything in their everyday lives. You have young men who feel as though to be a man is to “father” children that he knows he cannot financially take of, young men that feel the need to wander the streets at night with illegal substances in their possession to make a profit and young men that instill the morals that going to jail is good because it gives you street credibility. Where has our generation come to? I feel sorry for our young brothers and sisters because they don’t have the balance of good parenting.

You have girls growing up without their father and end up wanting love from men who dont have anything going for themselves except trips to the clinic as well you have boys who grew up without their father and taking on manhood responsibilites at a very young age. Another side of life is where the father is there but he doesnt know how to raise his kids because he continues the cycle of the stereotypical black male.

Bill Cosby needs to realize that the world cannot change in one day especially when everything around has become so much more influential. Hip Hop is at a stage where its bigger than its ever been, but the problem lies in lyrical content along with the messages that are sent out to the youth. You have the south where “black english” is still valued. That is part of their culture, no matter how educated some southerners can be, in their environment they grew up around their ancestors who talked the exact same way. Same example goes for people in the north, west, and east. Unless there is a genocide where elimination of speech will then occur, people will always talk a certain way.

African Americans as a whole must really do revisions of our lives so we don’t continue the paths that some of us are already taken. We need to understand that everything around us that is influential isn’t always postive and that we do not need to take upon those lifestyles. We can change for the better but everyone has to see the light and make those differences come about.

A network affiliate is a station that pays money for regionally exclusive deals to air network programming in prime time.

In the daytime stations air syndicated material some of which has already been taped (Seinfeld) for instance how in the hell do you think they control a show that is already off the air.

Furthermore Oprah is the highest rated syndicated program. Networks have nothing to do with it, and network affiliates simply aire the program they’ve bought from her. Yes they could theoretically drop her but that does not mean they control her product. Just like Habib at the local gas station could stop saling snickers if he wanted that doesn’t mean he can tell snickers how many nuts to put in their product. You are completely ignorant to the process but steady trying to relegate Oprah to a second class business woman status when she is one of the best business women alive and certainly the greatest business woman in entertainment- That my friend is plantation politics.

Who uses Ebonics?

As a businessman who volunteers in schools I can tell you that Ebonics is a slang dialog no different than Southern Slang, or West Coast cool, or Spanish. I see a bigger problem with Hispanics refusing to learn English than black kids who use a slang that they grow out of after classroom expectations are met.

I personally feel that the Ebonics argument is regional and way overblown. Now I do see poor English use among all Teens; poor kids who have not been taught better and well to do kids trying to be street.
