What I earened about the Hip Hop awards.

1. Anyone with "Lil" in fron of their name is butt

    f*cking ugly (seriously)

2. Most rappers can't spell the designers they try

(and yes, I said try) to rock.

3. Gold/silver/platinum/diamond embedded grills

usually indicate a lower level of intelligence

    suggesting geechy-ism.

4. Parents who bring their children obviously have

    no expectations of them.

5. The peace sign is truly being abused by those who

have no clue of it's true meaning (especially

    felons).

6. Tattoos do not enhance ones looks, they simply

draw attention to the unattractive ones.

7. Apparently purchasing jewelry that will retain

or obtain greater value, is not on a rappers

wish list. However swap meet silver and gold

    is a must have.

8. Color coordination skill that not all rappers

    have mastered.

9. If you dress up your wife, girlfriend etc.,

to accompany you to the awards, please don't

    bring her in "Mall Gear".

10. Black, ashy, flakey lips (from too many hits) is

without a doubt a must have for street cred

    today.

                     Summary

              HIP HOP IS TRULY DEAD!!!

Summary: Hip Hop is truly dead!

My goodness...I bet MLK is turning in his damn grave. Why in the world did anybody from the Jena 6 have to be at the BET Hip Hop Awards and did they really present? Does racism now lead to overnight celebrity? It looks like exploitation to me and we black people are just eating this garbage up. Why?!!! Why?!!!

I have been following the Jena 6 case for awhile now. I chose not to attend the rally, but I did wear black on Thursday. I also sent money to their legal defense fund. I did not support the beating of the white kid, but did not think that the punishment was suitable for the crime. I had not seen any pictures of the boys, other than black and white head shots. After viewing these pictures, I feel like I have been bamboozled by the black media. Why would you think it was OK to make a mockery of the principles of Jena 6 by attending this tomfoolery? Where were the parents, lawyers, or mentors? Did my money pay for those outfits? There are thousands of Jena 6's all over the country. Do you not realize the irreparable damage that you have caused to the movement? I just wish that the black media would have picked a more suitable case to highlight our plight.

An example that supports one of my points--

I conducted two interviews today. The position I held the interviews for was a tow motor operator. One (A) came in with a opened short sleeved button up with a tee-shirt underneath, some jeans, and some sneakers and his hair was neat in corn rows. The other (B) wore a striped long sleeved button up, jeans, and a pair of all white sneakers, hair cut neat. I had both of their applications and they were pretty much on the same level as far as work history, education, etc. My question is--who do you think I took more of an interest in to fill my opened position?

Although I gave both of them a thorough interview, I chose (B) for a second interview. He took the time to dress like he wanted a job. Now (A) wasn't that bad but in my position--a first impression usually has a lasting impression.

My point is--APPERANCE DOES MATTER!!!!!

If those (Jena6 young men) were presenting themselves to America, they should dress appropriately. For some, that may have been the first opportunity that we were able to see them. That would've been a perfect time to dress according and really represented. I'm not saying they should've been "casket sharp" but damn...

"By inviting them to present an award, BET is saying we support the fact that you beat the guy up? Keep in mind, you have not heard what they said. So if you see the show and the boys said “Although our actions were wrong, we appreciate your support in fighting unequal justice in Jena.” Then what?"

That would be the only way it would be acceptable for them to be there. However this is BET and we know how low they are.

I wouldn't be shocked if they did say something like that, but would we ever see it on the air?? I bet it would get edited out and before anyone could claim they did say something, the mainstream media would already have them and BET on blast.

In fact if they did say something like that wouldn't it have leaked out from someone who attended the event? Or would those two have said something by now? I would want it know that I thank people for the support on that show just in case they edit it out.

@Erica

"THEN they were threatened by the DA. THEN one of them was attacked at an all-white party."

When were they threatened by the DA? and if the "all-white" party is the party I think you're talking about, then I don't think it's fair to say that that incident was racially motivated. From what I've heard and read, that party, was a private party, and Robert Bailey, one of the Jena 6 tried to crash, but he didn't have an invitation. So another person, who wasn't a student, got into the face of Bailey and they brawled, and then the girl throwing the party, threw them both out and called the cops. If the situation had been reversed, and most of the people at the party were black, and a white person tried to crash without an invitation, he would have been turned away too, not because he was white, but because it was a private party.
