Nore says that Hova promised him the Roc-La-Familia Presidency and pulled out. Eventually Nore says he got depressed and packed on 300 pounds because of it:

During a recent interview with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg, N.O.R.E. aired out his experiences as an artist on Jay-Z’s Roc-La-Familia and how it eventually left him depressed. According to N.O.R.E., the trouble started when Jay backed out on an agreement to make him president. “This is the only problem that I had: He said, ‘Yo N.O.R.E., I’m gonna make you the president of Roc-La-Familia,’” the Queens bred MC stated. “So here I am, I’m like, that’s big for me. And then next week, he says, “Juan Perez is the president of Roc-La-Familia.” Despite the switch up, N.O.R.E. insists that it is still all good between the two of them. “I am not mad at Jay-Z, I really wanna clear that up,” he said. “Jay-Z’s a wonderful businessman. He’s ill. For me to say he’s a wack businessman, then that makes me wack. Clearly that’s not what I’m saying. But with the Spanish music, he clearly did not know.” Things apparently weren’t all good with Perez, however, because things between yhe two of them soon went down hill. “I don’t think he was a Dame Dash, per say, but I think he didn’t have to be a Dame Dash, he had to be who he was at that time but here’s my problem that came up with that,” N.O.R.E. added. “I tell him one day, ‘Yo O.G., I need a flight to Puerto Rico ’cause I gotta do a record with Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, [and] his exact words to me was ‘F*ck Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.’” N.O.R.E. ended up leaving the label in 2007, but things for him got anything but better, as he battled depression, ballooning to 310 lbs.

“I was depressed from what I did with the Reggaeton and I don’t regret what I did with the Reggaeton, I regret how it went down,” he added. “But I became depressed.”

Jay-Z has a lot on his plate, and Reggaeton is still selling like hot cakes out side of the U.S. The record company business is shady as a whole. We just can’t believe N.O.R.E. pulled the old, depressed and cause of my weight gain, card. SMH

NORE was young and believed everything that Jay obviously had to say. First of all, Jay obviously didn’t put it on paper, a legal contract. 2nd. Why would you believe someone just because they are your friends. 3. Why would Jay put anyone over his business, if they don’t have executive experience? 4. Jay has to talk to the board of directors, so maybe they wanted to go in a different direction, i.e. Reggaton?

I will give credit where credit is due.

Jay Z has risen from the ashes of the Marcy Project Slums, NO DOUBT. Even Nas Mr. Ouchwalla’ had to break bread to do business with him. I think Jay Z and his Machiavellian business moves will be studied by future music moguls in Ivy League Universities some day if they’re not already doing it at Morehouse.

When you use your power and money for ILL gotten gains there is only a matter of time before you become poisoned by climbers & followers. I’ve seen it happen… If Nore knew anything about himself he would know never to give anyone the power to control his emotions particularly his anger—depression is anger turned inward. He’s angry, but he doesn’t have the ***** to express himself and just like a guppy fish he gets ate by a much larger predator…JayZ

depression is no joke tho. besides jay, I hope N.O.R.E. got some folks to keep him moving. when you start hearing victims say they are depressed, it can turn ugly.
