An NYPD sergeant who rose to fame last year when she was photographed with President Obama at the World Trade Center killed herself after a fight with her girlfriend in their Long Island home Tuesday, sources said.

The body of Sgt. Stephanie Moses, 40, was found in the bedroom of her Baldwin home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head, the sources said.

The 17-year veteran was a member of the department’s ceremonial unit.

It appears that there was no note left or signs of other issues that might have made Stephanie feel she needed to end her life.

“On behalf of the New York City Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Stephanie Moses, who was, on so many occasions, the face of the NYPD on the national stage as well as routinely at police ceremonies,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

One neighbor said the couple moved into the two-story house about two years ago.

“They were wonderful friends and neighbors,” said one neighbor, who declined to give her name. “(Moses) was a good person. Very sweet. Very caring.”

Ed Mullins, head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, said the death was nothing short of a tragedy.

“This is a tragic loss,” he said. “She was just a great person. Always laughing, always chipper. It’s just baffling.”
