Charles Barkley was caught crunk-driving early this morning:
Basketball icon-turned-political hopeful Charles Barkley has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The former athlete, who announced in August (08) his plans to run for Alabama state governor, was held by the Gilbert Police Department at a DUI checkpoint in Arizona on Wednesday (31Dec08). Barkley, 45, had his blood tested on the scene by a mobile DUI task force. He was released shortly afterwards and took a taxi home.
So much for his plans to run for governor. Not that that the simple ass oaf stood a change in the first place.

Charles Barkley was hangin’ with a celebrity party posse before he was popped for DUI in Arizona early this morning — and were told one of the guys in his crew was Jaleel White — aka Steve Urkel!
Barkley spent Tuesday evening at a Scottsdale nightclub called Dirty/Pretty. Sources at the club tell our pals at TheDirty.com that Barkley, Urkel and former NFL superstar Michael Strahan were boozin’ it up at their own private table.
Sources close to the situation also tell TMZ Barkley had some interesting accessories in his car when he was popped at the DUI checkpoint — wine coolers and bear claw donuts.
It must be that time of the month for big burly athletes. Former NFL football star, Andre Rison got in a little hot water in San Antonio, TX last night:
According to the SA News, the 41-year-old five-time Pro Bowl receiver and one time boyfriend of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes arrived at the Crown Plaza Hotel with a friend around 2 a.m., and caused a scene after learning that local bars had closed. Rison and his friend then began to act “rambunctious,” prompting a call from the police.
A hotel spokesperson said that the manager on duty agreed to allow the pair to return to their rooms without consequence, but the responding police officer decided to arrest Rison and his friend. Both men paid an $85 fine, and stayed in jail overnight, before being released at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
